that is funny, they hire felons, and not handicapped people, this company screws its employees at it does the customers. the employees still have to get hand outs from the government like food stamps and whatever else they can get because they don't take care of their employees. The physical address is 12601 N Cave Creek Rd #113 Phoenix AZ 85022 they run a messed up daycare and ahdw out of the same building. They purchase cheap merchandise to sell to the customers. It is not a donation, it is to line their own pockets. The owner and office manager are not even from this country. 480-948-0858 is the office number, contact them an advise then to remove your number, and then file charges with the better business bureau, they do not want this to happen, since they want to put your information on the post cards it is only right you have theirs.

okay. so here is the gist of it. this group adhw calls all kinds of people a day. i myself am pushed to use sympathy and make up stories of being disabled and such to get money from older people. i am disgusted how they operate. i work in the pontiac office or atleast i will for another day or so. i sincerely appologize if i called you. policy is three rings and on to the next person. we are told to present ourselves as handicapped or disadvantaged, which some of us are. still its a shame what they tell people to get them to buy light bulbs. and the kicker is that they only keep those that make sales. so some are given a chance and if they got a heart they don't make it. i myself don't push or pressure people. i am disadvantaged where i find it hard to get hired by other companies.
now some workers present themselves as vets or that we are helping vets and battered women. the stories vary with the caller. now these people are only trying to make a living. the owner is to blame. its not about the product its about the story.
i hope this helps. as for the dearborn employee, i wouldn't want to give up my identity either. but i feel this falls under the whistle blower law. if u do answer simply ask to be taken off their list. i do but i can't vouch for others.

I was one of those that was sent out without authorization.  They called for my elderly father, to verify he still lived at the number and address. I verified it and they updated it stating that they would mail him an info pack, and the lady said her supervisor would call back to confirm that she had in fact spoken with someone.
The supervisor called to verify my name, and the address was still correct.  AT NO TIME was a product or price ever discussed.
I THINK THAT QUALIFIES AS DISHONEST AND A SCAM.  If I agree to by $.88 light bulbs for $99.00 then that is one thing, but if I have no idea I am making a purchase and am sent items and a bill I did not request, then that is a scam.
I worked within the financial and insurance industries for decades. You can't ask someone to pay for what they don't order.
And if the calls  are being monitored as they say then I don't have a worry in the world, they have proof I didn't order any bulbs.

I received a call from this number to verify that my dads address had not changed. My dad is elderly and over the years he and my mom had contributed to a number of charities and organizations. I verified the address was correct and gave them my name as the contact name they spoke with.  10 days later I receive a package in the mail, addressed to me(wrong spelling of name) containing an (American Mills 3pk)  dish towel, potholder, and oven mitt with a due now bill for $59.99.
I did not order a kitchen set, especially one that can be obtained from Wal Mart at a fraction of the cost. I am most upset that they took my name and sent me info that I had not requested from a phone call to verify my dads information.
Now had they sent him the light bulbs he and my mom had gotten for years, they would have most likely gotten a donation. Had they asked me outright to make a donationto the organization, they would have most likely gotten a donation. However since they are scamming I am returing the package to them(registered mail) with a note to remove me from their mailing list.
Should I get any type of collection from them I will sue the pants off of them.

Your company continues to call my home asking for me.  I tell them that I am not home, and you all continue to call.  Luckily, this is not my real name so they can continue to call.  I am enjoying the light bulbs Sucker.  I bet you the next time that you try to threaten somebody by sending them to collections, that you think about getting the correct information from the person that you are trying to scam.  Peace!!!!  And on a side note: stop using the disavantaged and handicapped as your way to sucker people in.  That is really a messed up thing to do.

I worked for this company for about a week.  They are a legitamate company, but they definately border on the boundaries of being illegal (And in some ways they might be breaking the law).

1)  They are not a charity.  They are a for Profit company.  They sell common household items at vastly inflated rates (For example, 8 lightbulbs for $99).  By law there aren't any restrictions on the prices that you are charged.  If I could talk you into buying an empty soda can for a thousand dollars, then its a legal sale.  It might be ethically wrong, but it's legal.

2)  They get by claiming that they only hire handicapped workers, and that the products are all packaged, processed, and shipped by handicapped workers (As well as the telemarketers all being handicapped).  They operate under the disguise that they're selling the products at vastly inflated rates in order to provide handicapped workers a job.  But,

1b)  Many of the employees they employ are in fact, NOT handicapped.  I was not handicapped when they hired me.  All they asked me when I called to inquire about the job was "Do you have telemarketing experience?"  During my interview they informed me that they only hire handicapped personell, but depression, anxiety, or any other diagnosis will qualify.  They do NOT verify that you have the disability that you claim to have.

2b)  Their "telemarketers" blatantly lie.  They routinely tell people it is a donation or a contribution, when in fact it is not.  They will say things like "And for your donation of $50 I'm gonna send you a gift of lightbulbs!"  This is not true.  It is a purchase, at a vastly inflated rate, that is suppose to help keep the handicapped individual employed.

2c)  I saw people NOT in wheelchairs tell customers they were in a wheelchair, and I saw guys in their 20's/30's telling people they just got out of the hospital from a Stroke.  One guy I worked with would talk like a "retard" when he was on the phone, but he had no actual disability.  Another guy claimed he was a crippled veteran from the Iraq war, when in fact he wasn't a Veteran let alone crippled.

-----

Their motto is "It's not the price or the Product, it's your Story!!"  They sell household items so they have something that everyone uses, but the prices are around 10X retail value (And if they can get more out of you, they will).

Most of their customers are misled into thinking it is a charity, or that they are specifically helping a handicapped person out.  Many of their customers are the elderly, or people who can't really tell what they're doing over the phone.

As far as them overcharging, I didn't personally see that happening.  I also am not aware of any orders being sent out without authorization (They have a second person validate that the order is legitamate, but I guess they didn't always do that so it is likely people use to ship out products with bills, or overcharged people's credit cards.)

Those of you getting called multiple times a day, they work on an Auto-Dialer system.  So if you don't answer they just press a button and call the next number.  But it recylces you in the queue and will often call you back many times in the same day.

My direct Opion:  Their telemarketers are dishonest (But very good at it), and the company is exploiting what HAS to be a loophole somewhere to sell cheap crap at expensive prices.  When you purchase from them you ARE helping someone out -- The company profits, and the telemarketer makes a commission off of each and every sale.  If they do not maintain a quota of sales they will get fired, so even the actual Handicapped people that work for the company have no job security -- And since most of the "Good" telemarketers are NOT handicapped, those are the people who work with the company long term.

DO NOT send them any money.  This is a scam and they are making thousands of calls like this.  DO NOT let their threats scare you.  They do not have your social security number and cannot submit you to a collection agency for a bill you do no owe.  Call the Better Business Bureau if you need reassurance - they have a file on them a mile thick.

This company is a pain in the a**!  My mother who is not mentally capable of making decisions is being harrassed.  They called on the day my father died.  She did not agree to order anything.  Then a week later, trash bags were delivered.  I wrote an explanation and sent the product back.  They continue to call 3 times a day insisting to speak to my incompetent mother.  I don't know how many times I need to explain to them that I am her power of attorney and she is incapable of making decisions.  I told them never to call again and they continue to call.  Any suggestions?  This company is awful.

I also want to know why my husband purchased light bulbs from the same organization about 5 months ago....seems a little odd dont you think?

This company harrasses my mother with Alzheimers.  They call continually.  She is a generous person and don't mind donating, however, these people are ridiculous.  Unfortunately, she is not in a mental capacity to understand not to give out her bank acct and credit card number.  She was double charged a couple months ago, and yesterday money drafted out of her account.  Left messages, no return phone calls.  She has a garage full of their $200 trash bags.  I'm tired of it!  My daughter was even called a "bad name" after saying my mother wasn't available to take the call.  Companies like these cause others not to want to donate.  Geez.

I'm all for people do their jobs in call centers, God knows I've had to take jobs doing call center work to pick up extra $, and I'm all for abled and disabled people finding work, but I am on the DNC list and I still get one call after another from one company after another and I'm sick of it...what do we have to do to have companies adhere to the DNC list.   I feel sorry on the call center reps because I get so angry after 3 doz calls back to back and it's not fair to them, but enuf is enuf.

I'm in the same boat. I purchased something two years ago, and today they called back. That's after they called twice yesterday my day off. I told them "I don't deal with telemarketers do you have a website?". thy Caller said "Did we do anything wrong?" I replied. "No I just don't give my info over the phone."
Good thing . I looked them up and found this site. Phew!

A tip-- just get websites. look them up and talk to family about where and when to donate. It saves a big headache and gets you out of  so many traps.

Just received the scissors that we "ordered" in today's mail. No one in our household spoke to anyone from this organization, nor did we order the scissirs. We only give to a few select charities and politely decline most telemarketers, they skim their profit off of the donations that are to go to a worthy cause. We don't have caller ID, but most telemarketing calls can be identified by the background noise when you answer and they delayed response on the other end. We just hang up before they come on the line.

I've been victimized by scams like this before, receiving the threatening letters from collection agencies until I found out this practice is illegal. Here is an excerpt from the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs Civil Code Section 1584.5http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/mail.pdf:

"It is illegal for a business to try to sell you something by sending you merchandise that you have not ordered or consented to receive. A business cannot send you unordered merchandise unless the merchandise is:
?    a free sample which is clearly and conspicuously marked as such, or
?    mailed by a charitable organization that is soliciting contributions and is marked as a gift.

If a business sends you something in the mail that you did not order or consent to receive, and has done so with the intention of selling it or another product or service to you, you have no obligation to either return the unordered item or pay for it. It is illegal for a company that sends unordered merchandise to follow the mailing with a bill or a demand for payment. (This rule does not apply where you have agreed with a business in advance to receive merchandise on a periodic basis, and it also does not apply to a good faith error on the part of the business that sent the merchandise.)"

You can learn more at  the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs website:

http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/mail.pdf

Basically, you are under no obligation to return or pay for the unsolicited item. The website suggests how to deal with it, too.

It gets worse. They sold me garbage bags, ( i thought this was the legitimate charity that had  called last year-not) They said three rolls at 199.00. What? I said to cancel, I can buy cheaper at Costco and hung up. Guess what- package showed up last week, only 2 rolls with an invoice that says three for 199.00. This is not a charity it is a scam. No way to send back or call. Infact, couldn't even get to the invoice without opening the package. And they will do the credit report thing. Am going to pay, along with a letter to take me off list, never call again and all information has been forwarded to State Attn. General. Of course making copies of everything, might even get a notary.

If you're a high ranking employee, then why are you anonymous?  Since you're bored, I can only imagine the rest of your co-workers and bored to and that is why they call, hang up and call again and again bothering folks who might have contributed to your cause once.  However, we've all learned the hard way that one contribution means we're going to be annoyed mutliple times by pure rudeness, lack of respect for folks who have meaning in their lives and didn't particulary relish having hangup call after hangup call day and day out.  Get a life and find something productive to do with your time.

My husband received  a call from adhw over a year ago about giving a donation. He told the rep., he would give them five or ten dollars. They did not want that so the conversation ended. We started receiving phone calls every day 2 or 3 times a day. The rep. said my husband entered into some type of verbal agreement and owed them 35 dollars. A pair of scissors came in the mail some time later. One day I answered the phone and the person was saying they were trying to close this account. All we were thinking is what account? Stop harassing me.We told them numerous times to stop calling us. I asked the rep. what did she want me to do with the scissors and she told me, I could throw them in the trash, they did not want them back, because this was not about the scissors, it was about the commitment. My husband never agreed to anything .Now we have received a letter from Galaxy Debt Collectors. OH MY GOD. Are these people insane? And  this is  just the beginning. Stay tuned for more of the story.
