The best thing to do to combat these types of solicitations is to report every one you get. The more complaints there are the more they will be apt to be investigated for any criminal acts. As I see it it is a form of harassment, I have received several of these cards over the past couple of years at different adresses. I have tried to call and told them to stop sending me things in the mail. Finally I reported them and notified them they had been reported. I have not gotten anything since.

When you buy a new home your name, address, who you bought the house from and how much you paid for it is all public record and listed in the local newspapers. That's where they got your info. It is a scam to get you to buy thier product.

This is not a scam.... unfortunately with the do not call lists, advertising has changed over the years.  We could put a billboard in your yard asking you to call to get your water tested and no one would call.  Most people who do have us out to test their water are very satisfied with the results and out of the people who do decide to clean up their water, believe the best thing they could have done was to call the number and schedule a water test.  There is no cost or obligation with the presentation and we would love the opportunity to come out and show you what is in it.  So please call the number and set up an appointment, It could be the best choice you have ever made.  We do not target any group of people, we target new home owners no matter what age, race, religion, or any other group you may think of.

The same guy must have come to our house.  I was on my way to the hospital and my husband agreed to purchase because we had just moved in and needed a water softner.  The product is good Aqua Maid but the price was outrageous and the service is non-existant.  We haven't received all the promo gifts and the financing company "didn't receive our first payment" until a month after we sent it causing us to pay late fees.  This company is awful.  Stay away from them.  It's the worst I have ever been scammed.

Yikes! Just received the same Yellow postcard dated 8/23/2011, from AM Distribution, 840S Edgewood AVe. Jacksonville, FL  32205.  Thought it was a scam so I Googled it and found this! Thank goodness I did. How do these spammers get our home addresses.

Any idea who I should report this to?

I got one of these in the mail too, but it was an orange card, not yellow.  I'm glad I looked up this thread.  I just bought a house a few months ago and I was warned that this information on my purchase was public and that I'd receive solicitations, but at least the other solicitations I've received were not so damned misleading and secretive.

Solicitor!!!!  In Short...called the number and an operator needed the reference number since they didn't know exactly which solicitation company was "pitching" us.  They asked for our address??? Is it not on the yellow card you mailed us?  She said, we would like to send someone to your home to "deliver" the package.  Really?  Tell us what the package is.  "Well how many loads of laundry does your family do a week?"  Really.  You want to send someone to deliver laundry detergent?

I recieved my card and got the same response form Dispatch. Stupid is to give your phone number and new home address to people that sent you a card in the mail for a free water test. You have no idea the backgrounds of these salemen coming to your home. How do you know they are not just looking around your home to find entry points? The same test you can purchase in home depot for cheap and know they are not biased. You are the reason the elderly and naive get ripped off.

to all of you calling this a scam without even calling i say "are you ignorant or just plain stupid". i read this garbage and called anyway and was suprised to find that it wasnt a scam. i got my tide and my water test and it cost me nothing. i suggest to anyone who reads this to try it...they dont ask for more than your name address and phone number. and if you have been watching the news lately its more dangerous to post on here than to give them that info. they dont ask for anything but 30 mins of your time, no cc# no ss#

I got a yellow card too. I seen a lot on scams over past years. Be careful of people calling you over the phone showing on your caller I. D. "IMPORTANT." Watch your debit/credit card statements to see if the debit is yours.

Like the rest of you, I got an orange card with 888-315-3292 after buying a new home.  Thanks for this thread.  Our homeseller provided local names and phone numbers for water conditioning dealers that they deal with all the time.  These dealers sent reputable brochures and documentation on themselves and their products.  I'll stick with them and throw the card away.  Thanks again.

I received a yellow post card.  Called the # and told them I didn't know who they were and what package I should be expecting.  She said "let me check on that for you".  It was for 2 lrg bottles of Tide and they wanted to check my water and it would only take 30 minutes of my time. I declined saying it didn't fit into my schedule as I was booked up with appointments on my day off for weeks to come.  I believe they got my name as a recent home buyer.

I received the green card said that "We have been trying to reach you to deliver your package and we know how our schedule get hectic. Please call us today at 877-418-5562, so we can deliver your package promptly". I called them and one lady told me that the houston city wants to check the water quality in my house. I agreed to see them. Then they send a guy to demonstrate the water filter and try to sell it for 1 hour. I don't agree to buy it, then he called his boss, then I talked to his boss, but still don't want to buy it. And the old man left.

After he left, I wonder if this is a trick to access my house with bad intention ??? (I recorded his plate number - just in case). This can be also a fraud marketing.

Thanks to this thread I didn't get scammed. I just bought a new house and got quite a few "offers". But all the rest said what the offer was for and didn't try to pose as some sort of delivery mixup. The yellow card from AM Distributions, 840S Englewood Ave, Jacksonville, Fl 32205 with the exact same message as the poster above, was dated a little less than one month after I bought the house.

I did call the number. A young woman answered "Dispatch" and that was enough. I hung up and am throwing away the card.
