Called right a dinner time - They are a piece of work.  My phone itself has a call block feature so when the number rings, it will give a half ring then say "Call Blocked" and that's it.  These people keep rotating numbers.  I have about 10 in the call block system so far.

They use the PSTN to terminate their calls because they are calling everyone regardless of if they are using VoIP or not, therefore you can't grab their IP.  Why?  Because to send out a call on the PSTN they either send it out through a VoIP provider (cheap) or local Telco line (expensive) and not via IP from their own PC direct to your phone.  Therefore the rest of your plan is moot.

What someone could try is contacting all VoIP providers and asking for them to check their outgoing logs for the numbers listed on 800 Notes.  If they find matches, cut the service off because that's the scammer making the calls.  That would take a lot of time for the person contacting all the VoIP providers, and more than likely the VoIP providers wouldn't do it because it means lost income to them (these scamers are paying to use the VoIP service) and more work for the providers to keep looking up the numbers listed at 800 Notes, and there may be some kind of privacy law protecting the scammer and what number he sends out as his CallerID.

In general, it would be a waste of everyone's time, but this truly is the only way to put an end to these calls from happening as blocking numbers is a waste of time because the scammer just changes it and keeps calling and no one can keep up with the new spoofed numbers being used.  The VoIP providers have to be more pro-active at putting an end to allowing scammers access to send out any CallerID thay want to.

Another idea would be to generate a confirmed list of scammers and import that into a block list.  If you use VoIP it would work, or like myself if you run a VoIP service all customers who use that VoIP service would be protected, until a new number pops up.  If you only block the numbers on your personal phone a list like this wouldn't work for you.  It needs to be applied at the service level before it reaches your home/office.

I add all known confirmed numbers to our inbound calling before allowing the call to go out to the customers, so everyone is protected.  However, there are just under 1000 numbers there now and the calls still come in now and then.  There is NO way to stop them all using this method because they just change the numbers, it only cuts them down somewhat...

Good luck to all.

I get these calls numerous times a month. This is another phishing-call - from people using a well knows name like "Google Business listing"   to get access to your information by phone. Like: phones numbers, emails, address, personal information and to use that information to create fake credits cards or for any other illegal purpose.

I've been thinking about that as well.  My idea would only work with VoIP systems and it would involve somehow grabbing the IP address of the phone, launching a proxy app and then somehow sending a packet down the line to the IP of their phone and hope that the phone is connected to the same local network as their home PC and fry the lot of them.  I have no idea if this is even possible but it sure would be a cool app to write,

If someone could invent something that we can put on our phones that can blast the caller and fry their computer it would be the best invention ever. I've blocked a lot of these calls ,they start up again from another number so that doesn't work either.
