This is second of these type of calls. When I answer a male voice says "hi" and then the call is dropped. Computer auto-dialer? Wish Sprint could do something about these. Quite annoying. Last time it was a different number, same voice.

Got a call a few minutes ago. Referenced a previous conversation that we never had with someone named Doug Adams (of Hitchhikers Guide no doubt). Left call back number of 888-442-0803.
Said the name of the company was "Debt Relief" When I said I had no problems, they claimed it must be a misdial by someone in the customer service area.
Text of the message (via Google Voice transcription)
At Doug Adams here again. Hey we spoke last week on the phone regarding possible for your interest rates and services minutes on your credit card. I want to let you know I did find it. The program that we got can go over those printers as well as 1.5, 1st impossible got your monthly payment in half. I've been said you were only making the minimum payments this. He great office. This will be the last courtesy call, but I will make. So please, okay. You can reach me here at 1(888) 442-0803 again that is toll free at 1(888) 442-0803.

You know, you might be right. I've been applying and posting resume's lately. I answered the call, and the guy just said, "Hello, ugh..."
Could be a service used by employers to verify phone numbers. Then again, it could be a telemarketer that got my phone number from a jobs website.
Man, I don't like the internet sometimes....

How funny! I just got a call with that same exact message & number... never talked to the guy in my life either!

I just received a call about this phone number - to the company where I work.
As the call went through our swithboard I only caught the end of the message, "This will be the last courtesy call, but I will make. So please, okay. You can reach me here at 1(888) 442-0803 again that is toll free at 1(888) 442-0803."
I did not call back.

BigD - it's doubtful this has anything to do with a background check for a job you applied for. They seem to be calling random cell phone numbers and leaving voice mail messages about offering low interest rates with low monthly payments. Some kind of dodgy offer for debt consolidation. The thing that caught my attention is after listening to the message it sounds as if they called you by mistake, and the call was important to someone, for example, someone whose home is being foreclosed on. But in reality it seems that it's all a ruse to get as many being people as possible to call the 1-800 number.

Hello everyone,
Here is my situation with this phone number. I work in aerospace. Twice now I have applied online for positions at Boeing St. Louis. Twice now I have recieved but missed a call from the same number. Each time I get this call it is the day after I get an automated response from Boeing's website stating they have recieved my application, etc. Since this has happened twice now I am begining to think it might be a service that verifies information for employers.
I have no idea - but what are the odds of this scenario playing out twice with the same phone number? Anybody else applying for jobs then have the mystery number call?

Me too - "Uh, hi" then dropped. WTF?
Buzz 2011-06-06 20:45:51 Unknown
Ditto.

I just got the same thing -- same number, then a male "hi" then the call immediately dropped.

I had the same problem with almost identical same message. The only difference was I just got the second half of the message not the name of who they were asking for or who they were.
Nell 2010-03-02 21:30:41 Unknown
I answered...complete silence on the other end. I hung up and called back, and a machine said the number was no longer in service. Irritating.

Some jerk with a list of cell phone #'s calling just to annoy people and make them spend $ on their phone bill. He left me a voicemail with that BS about lowering credit card debt. I also have no credit cards
taylor 2010-02-25 14:21:20 Unknown
Same deal here. I'm in south dakota. Some people just don't have a life I guess

Left a voicemail saying we had spoken last week about lowering my credit card interest rate--we hadn't. I don't have any credit cards--probably a crook of some sort.

got a call from 314-628-0503. a guy finally said "hello" then hung up. someone should put an end to this harrassment. they need to throw wierdos like this in jail. Calling people, and then hanging up. Get a life!
NoThx 2010-02-24 21:54:33 Telemarketer
Man started leaving the message before the VM started recording. Wanted to lower interest rates on some credit card but didn't say which one. Stated this would be his last "courtesy call". Left a toll free number to call back - 888-442-0803. No company name and no caller name left on VM.
chuck 2010-02-24 21:53:12 Telemarketer
They left a voice mail and said we had a conversation about my Credit Cards. I don't carry any credit cards. There are no credit cards on my credit report.
Buzz 2010-02-24 21:47:08 Unknown
Same thing just happened.
Adam 2010-02-24 21:45:20 Telemarketer

terry 2010-02-24 21:40:44 Unknown
called me but i didnt answer, didnt leave a message. seems like this a** is calling everybody and saying hello then hanging up... weird??
Bothered at work 2010-02-24 21:34:53 Telemarketer
Called and left a voice mail message on my work phone regarding how we spoke last week about lowering interest rates but I never spoke to anyone about that. Suspect phishing or telemarketing scam.
