I recieved a call from 315-294-9470 on friday on my cell phone and at my job they were threating to have me locked up. they said i owed some kind of pay day loan company and never paid them back. The men told me i had to pay so much by that day or they wer ecoming to my job or my house to pick me up. I checked them out that day and found out that it was a scheme they wer ejust trying to get money. I called them back that same day and told them i couldnt pay the money they would just have to do what ever they had to and hung up on him. The man called me right back thats when i told him i knew they were just trying to steal money and told him in an unfriendly way not to call my job or my cell phone again i said some other choice words to him and hung up. Tried to call him back on saturday the number was not working. Then today monday morning this same a** called my cell and my job again talking s**t to me but this time he called from this number 719-466-4354 and 719-466-4248 i told him not to call me again or i was going to call the damn police. he hung up. If anyone knows how or who to call to get this to stop please let us know. Very upsetting and stressful.

I got a call from this number too.  I told them not to call anymore, but of course they did.  Left a message that I could barely understand because of accent. They tried to make is sound urgent so I would respond. I didnt but if anyone know's how to get them off the call list I'd apreciated it. Scammers

I have gotten a call from them as well. Not the first time. They buy defaulted pay day loans this of course after you have paid many payments of intrest. If they call again tell them to send the police that you will be waiting for them.  The calls will stop.  They are doing this now because its tax time and they think you are coming into extra income. You can also file a report with the FTC and AG in your state. But call thier bluff. It is against the law for them to threaten you. If they call again tell them you want anything showing proof that you owe in writing mailed to you. If they have your phone number and it is a outstanding loan they will have that information as well  Good Luck

I have goten several phone calls from this number and one prior to it. Unfortunately I got scared on the first one and gave them the money they were asking. I soon found out it was a scam and quickly filed a fraud report on them. They are very pressing and demanding and it is really sad that they are doing this. If anyone else has a way of stopping them, please do so. I called the number and got a BRAD SMITH and a JAMES SMITH. Funny-such american names for such foreign people. Good Luck everyone...this has been very stressful on me and my family.

Oh yes.  They called me but on a different number and a different name. But the same type of information was giving.  This person's name was Jack Harrison. and the number is 772-257-4977. When I asked him to give me his office number instead of his cell phone number he paused and then gave me a 772-257-4988 number. They call my job a lot actually.  This number I looked up and it is in Florida. I called the police department there, due to the fact he said he was an "officer".  They have no record, but did take all the information.  My local police did the same and told me what to do from here on out.  So now I am just waiting.

They have called me twice at my job, during hours I am not even there.  I've tried several times to return the call, to find out who or what this is.  Each time, I am told the mailbox for that extension is full.
If they call again, they'll be facing a law suit.

Prank Call
I received a call on March 18th. A man with a middle eastern accent by the name of Sean Thomas. He stated in the message that it is important and urgent for me to call him back. I called the number back three time in reference to this message and i kept receiving a phone message that all circuits are busy. The same man called back the next day the only number that showed up on the caller i.d was the # 1. I called the same number back from the day before and a man picked claiming that I did not pay back a loan and that i was being charged and being taken to court. This man threatented me by informing me that there is a lawsuit against me. This company had my email address, my previous place of employment and the name of my best friend. I advised him that I did not get any notice of a lawsuit. The man then stated that if I dont make a payment right there to day that the poliice will come to either my job or home and arrest me. He also continued to state that since I used my best friend for a referrence on this so called loan that she would be arrested and have charges brought up her. I googled this number and found out  that this is a scam.

My mother got a call from these jerks while she was at work. She stated that they had her bank account information, ssn, banking pin, and other information. She has been sick ever since she got the call. If I find out who's calling there will be hell to pay. I am going to file the biggest lawsuit I can.

I just received a call at work that said I owed money and they gave a SS# and wanted me to verify the number and I asked them who they were and they said they would give me that information after I verified my SS#.  They said if I did not verify the number they would have me arrested.  Did they ask anyone else to verify their SS#?

Was called this morning, very threatening phone call! Sheriff to come and pick me up in a couple hours if I do not pay.  I requested their company name, he said that was not important, I said how am I to pay you if I don't have your company name, so then he gave it to me stating they were LLC Law office of New York - The address they gave me is to a Dr. office in New York.
I got off the phone, checked the internet, already knowing that they were a scam.

I called them back and advised them that I had reported them to the Attorney General's office for the State of Oregon.  That they were to not to call my number again or I would report it as a second offense.  There was a long pause and then he hung up on me.

They call me every once in awhile, leaving this very threatening message that if I don't call them back, all they can do is wish me the best of luck. It is a joke and I would love to report the b*****ds.

I received a call from this number, saying that I had failed to repay a "payday" loan, that a warrant was sworn out for my arrest, and that I was being charged with fraud . . . at first, he refused to provide the name of the company to which I allegedly owed the money.  Then, he provided a name.  I double checked and called the company - they don't do business in my state! Furthermore, they are aware that a scam siting their company name is running.  Back on the call with "LLC New York" ... he continued to threaten me with suit, arrest, etc. I hung up, and I called the Missouri attorney general's office and reported the number, as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

I got a call this morning from an unknown caller, without a phone number showing.  I have a partial recording from my answering machine before I picked up the phone.  He left a number of 315-294-9470.

He said his name was Shawn Richards, with a thick accent (maybe indian, but seemed more of an indian/australian/african accent combined).  The message he began to leave was that I needed "to contact him the very second I received this call, or your retained attorney of record.  This short time is very time sensitive."  Then he said something inaudible.  I picked up the phone at this point so I could get some information so I could report whoever it was, knowing that these type of calls are scams or beyond statue of limitation debt.

When I first answered, I asked the name of the company.  He said LLC Law office--I made him repeat it twice and spell it out.  At first he said I had a lawsuit against me, but then he asked for information about a close friend of mine saying that he (although "he" is actually a she) had a lawsuit filed against "him", but they didn't have current information for "him".  I told him that if someone was filing a lawsuit that they should really have that information.  He tried to get me to verify "his" phone numbers, first saying they were unlisted, then giving me numbers.  I told him that I wouldn't verify anything and not to call again. Shawn said that "he" listed me on the documents as a reference.  Again I told him not to call this number again and he hung up the phone.

I want to know how people are getting this type of information.  Where are they getting people's social sercurity numbers, and how are they connecting people.  I understand that the internet has a ton of information; however, the friend that this company was calling for is not on the internet -- doesn't even had a pc or laptop at home.

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.
