BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies setting up businesses in the Upstate New York area over the past several years. In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with Federal Law, we are asking for specific information from all collection agencies operating in our service area. The requests includes the following: :Federal Employee Identification Number-EIN :Proof Of Licensing, bonding and or registration by the city, town in which your business is located. :Proof of licensing required by any state in which you operate by mail or telephone or email. 1.) This collection agency has not responded to our requests. BBB advises consumers to be aware of their legal rights in regard to collections. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a statue enacted in 1978 which seeks to eliminate abusive and harassing behavior by any debt or collection agency. The act states specific practices and rules under which debt collectors must abide by. There are penalties for agencies found breaking these laws. Some of these laws state that a collection agency is forbidden to harass a debtor, which includes threatening violence or threats of legal action. They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name. If a consumer believes a debt or collection agency has violated any of the FDCPA laws the BBB encourages them to file complaints with the BBB at bbb.org and with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov.

SCAM!!!!   This is for a fact - Robert James & assoc. of Buffalo, NY.  How do I know?   Because they scammed my 80 year old mother out of $1400 saying I was going to jail for check fraud if she did not pay.  This is the company name on her credit card statement.   Yes - I called them back and asked them about it and where my debt validation letter was.  They hung up on me.  They PROMISED to send it to her.   BEWARE - SCAM!   I am filing charges against them.

This JERK " Mr.Moody" has been harassing & threatening me for 5 months! He claims it's regarding a legal matter. BS!!! It is a SCAM ...

Got call from this number as did my husband and son asking for a "statement" from me about an urgent matter pertaining to my son.  Husband also called and this "Mr Moody" claimed he needed and addesss to send legal papers.  If he had legal papers he would know the address!  People beware.

The company he "works for" RGA Capital is based out of Florida and only has 2 employees. This guy is calling with a Syracuse, New York #. He's full of s*** IMO

I got called repeatedly by this # as well as did both of my parents. Mr. Moody. Stated he is with RGA Capital and to call to avoid legal papers. RGA Capital is a real firm but I think he is using them as a cover for a scam based on the information I have gathered on the internet about this # and "Mr. Moody." Will update as I know more

This is a scam. They called me saying i am a reference in a case against someone i have never even heard of. Trying to get me to pay someone elses debt.

Received a call from this number. They stated they were looking for my Ex. The man calling was named Mr. Moody. I repeatedly told him not to call my phone anymore, and as I was telling him this, he incessantly fired away questions about my Ex.

man as a attornt i am doin an investigation but i will have you know everything i heard so far about him is legit he is legal. you have to realize you have a bunch of interest and late fee's on the acc so i understand how your bill is that much just be have he didn"t charge you with back check writing.

315-410-2065 is calling my home 4 time in 2 minute,,how is stop this,,any help..

I defaulted on a $300 pdl and had to close my bank acct.  This debt collector called my 80 year old mother and harassed her into giving out her credit card to pay MY $1357!.  She believed everything he said and she is so angry with me.  He told her he was taking me to court and that I owed $537 for a loan and $1200 in bank charges.  Reduced bank charges to $800.  It got her so upset.  I cannot believe this.   I hope it is not a scam artist.   All she got was this phone number and Mr. Williams was his name.   No account #, nothing.  NOTHING IN WRITING.  I think I may have a stroke.
