it's a scam! they're just trying to get your credit card details
They called and offered their help with my problems I'm having with my PC. They tried to make me fill the forms with my credit card details to purchase some software. They provided me with tons of reports that I have errors in my computer. I never fell for it thank to the Internet - there's plenty of reports about this company. Stay away from them!

The same call as above complaints, except my call came as `Out of Area'; claimed she was calling from Windows Tech Maint. Same heavy accent and boiler room type background noises. I asked for a call back number and this is the call back # given. I didn't call back but reported the scam to Microsoft.

total scam....I wouldn't talk to him without disconnecting my internet. My daughter come in and told me to get a number and call them back. Then she went on internet and typed the number in and it showed it was a scam

I was called at least twice a day for the last week by a international number starting with 011. They never left a message. I picked up the phone today and it was somebody claiming to work as a licensee from Microsoft tech support and my computer was downloading malicious messages to the internet. When I asked for a number to call back I was given 315-636-4810. All he wanted to do was access my computer to "fix" it. What a joke.

I have recieved two calls from these "Microsoft technicians" who told me that my computer was going to crash immediately if I did turn my computer over to them. I would not do it and ask for their phone # and name. They gave me this # and the name of Jack Williams (although he had such a heavy Indian accent I could barely understand him). I called the phone # and it was answered "hello, I mean customer service for Windows computers", I thought this was a total SCAM...

I got the same call. Caller claimed to be Jack, from Microsoft technical maintenance. Thanks to your post I did not give any information and hung up.

two phone calls from the same source. I refused to open my computer for these "Microsoft technicians" but got their number so my computer savvy husband could deal with them. I googled the phone number and got this website. Threaten to call the police and they may give up bothering you.

Same call (twice). Total bunch of F'g idiots. Sent the info, including a link to this page to the FBI. Of course, they're too busy chasing single mothers who's kids download a few MP3's illegally.
I told them to contact my IT department at the following number: 800-642-7676

I received the same called claimed to be calling from Microsoft "technical Maintainance" Claimed that "Error warning messages" were being received by "Technical Maintainance" and that I had downloaded malicious software. He had asked me to log into logme123.com site so he can help me to remove the unwanted software. I told him I don't want to give him access to my system and hung up the phone.

Scam call from 315-636-4810. Caller claimed to be "David Roster," claimed to be calling from Microsoft "technical Maintainance" Claimed that "Error warning messages" were being received by "Technical Maintainance" and that I had downloaded malicious software. Said he could "prove he was who he said he was (when I questioned him) because he knew my "computer license security I.D. code" which only Microsoft and the owner had access to. He wanted me to open my computer to "prove" this by showing it to me. (then other less pleasant things would have happened, no doubt.)
I talked to him for a while, then said I had to verify his info first. He gave me the above phone number, name, and the "CSL code" : 888 DCA 60 - FC0A - 11CF - 8F0F - 00C04FD 7D062 (or, close enough). He claimed this number was unique to my computer.
I hung up and googled "cls i.d. scam" and got to this web page, below, which explains the scam. (Basically, this number is in all or most windows machines)

An obvious telemarketer is at this phone number. Although, their accents are middle eastern or Indian, I believe they are calling from New York. Ask what they're selling...betsy, they'll tell you your computer has a terrible virus and you've been receiving the warnings.
See Sue's complaint also. I sure hope she has changed her credit card number....
Have always said that it is the innocent who pay for the sins of the guilty...we're watching that maxim play out again in the world of the internet.

Thanks Rick and Sue, for confirming what I thought...oh Sue, they're not in India....they're in New York.....
I had one tell me "this is a real job (I had suggested he get one) and that I shouldn't waste his time...(his is obviously more valuable than mine).
| sue 2012-05-31 18:14:47 Unknown |
When you call them on it, naturally they deny it and say they will refund your money. (Yes, my husband fell for this at the tune of $349). In order to refund your money, they want either your credit card number, or access to your computer. They say they can't refund without it. The warnings out there are that they get into your computer and get your history and all info. I've had several calls from these same people, who happen to be in India, and insist on refunding our $$. When I mentioned a complaint with the Attorney General, I got a very quick hangup.
