My daughter was without a job for over a year. We have being helping her.. Our saving are gone.
She consolidated her students loans and it will take a few weeks to get all the information together. Sallie Mae do not care. I told them I was out on disability for most of the year out of savings now they still call me every single day 3 to 5 times daily. God please help us and our kids that are fighting for a higher education.

Chris, Chapter 7 does not apply to Sallie Mae, or any other student loan. I know because I just came out of one.

I believe it is Sallie Mae, yes I owe them money and I would like to pay it but when I got back from full time active duty in the Army I learned that my job, with the Philips Lighting company had laid me off while I was serving. That's another story. Though just like everyone else I'm actively looking for work, but it just takes time to find the right job, especially the job that can pay off Sallie Mae. While in the Army they couldn't call me, that is illegal, but now these guys call 3 times in one minute. I mean it's not like I'm going to change my mind and pick up the phone because I missed the first 2 calls. Tried to make payment arrangements but they want 150 while I'm not working, and when push comes to shove, I need to eat and gas in the car to get to interviews, can't do that even if I gave them half of what they are asking for. These guys drive me crazy, the Army was less stressful. I guess they never heard of "you can catch more flies with honey"? If their policies were more generous they probably could get more payments from people.

They absolutely have no respect i losr my job because i been teaching and the school closed so now i cant even pay my bills eapecially with unemployment not paying me half the time. I had a teacher loan forgiveness application I turned in to them so i can get 5000 taken care of had to call them back to find out a date was wrong and thats why it didnt go through. But they made sure they called to say your missing payments. They dont ask or care that that you lost your job....then one evil person went off on me and said WELL YOU PAY YOUR CARE NOTE ......UM yes i do pay my care note if i dont have a car then how the heck can i get to work .....smh i WISH I NEVER went back to school to get a second degree ....and i wont go back to school for teaching unless the school i teach at pays for it ..many money making charter schools dont do that or pay their teachers enough to even livje off of so its a messed up situation . Everyone it will get better we will one day be out of debt

They also use a number beginning with 301. Don't answer any calls not listed in my phone. Wearing me out. I don"t have a loan with them and have had my number for over 10 years! Don't count on them removing your number from their list either.
JB 2013-10-30 17:01:28 Unknown
sometimes they leave a message saying they are Sallie Mae and want to help me with my student loans....I don't have student loans!
Danny 2013-10-26 12:16:48 Unknown
I'm still a student. I've told them this. And they still call over and over.
Chuck Wells 2013-08-07 17:32:37 Unknown
I am tired of being harrased
Jonathan 2013-07-19 13:14:12 Unknown
Hey ticked, it's probably just because the person who USED to own that number took out loans a long time ago. With portability, numbers are actually more scarce with cell phones than people realize so they are recylved quite often.

Oh, so they ARE a Sallie Mae Company?! Thought it was just another bogus caller (this is an office # they're calling). When they called there was nothing on the other end (common bogus/scam tactic). So I called back. They wanted me to enter my social security # !! Yeah, like I'm going to do that! I entered 123456789 and waited. To my surprise Angela picked up. I wanted her last name but she wouldn't give it. I asked her for HER social security number - she wouldn't give it. I asked her if she's a scam artist. Told her she reached a business - not a home or personal number. Then hung up on her. Sorry if they are legitimate but I get about 8-10 bogus, scam calls a day (A DAY !!!). It's so tiring to deal with them.

If Sallie Mae or any debt collector calls you before 8 AM or after 9 PM you have a law suit against them. By law they are not allowed to call before or after the aforementioned times. As long as you have a written log and proof of this, I would advise you to call an attorney and start a law suit against Sallie Mae, AES, or any other student loan collector immediately.
Best of luck!

Chris 2012-07-01 20:03:44 Unknown
I got an email from an attorney that said Sallie Mae and it's affiliates agreed to stop calls from their automated system but they still call. Lawsuit against them already for this.
Sallie Mae Sucks : Fact 2012-05-21 22:36:07 Debt Collector
Sally Mae does suck, and the MORONS who make the calls are about as dumb as you can get...they can call all they want - I love caller ID - my payment due isn't as much as their phone calls costs plus the salary they pay these MONKEYS making the calls. MONKEY MONKEY MONKEY! COME GET A BANANA MONKEY...jerk o**s

They have called my phone repeatedly looking from some individual I don't even know. I have requested over and over again for them to remove my number from their call list and they have not. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau shortly as this is on the verge of harrassment.

After calling Sallie Mae several times and asking them to remove my number from their system because I don,t have any accounts with them, the calls did not stop. I called back and spoke with a Manager name Richard and he was not able to find my number in their system, he said that he will email their system specialist to reserch my number and have it removed.
I will keep you posted to see if they really did something this time...

This is Sallie Mae Loans, second tier. Basically, if they don't have success reaching you through their "765" number, they escalate the process and use this number instead, arguably to persuade you to answer since it is a different number. They will not leave a message, possibly because it is an automated system generated call.
Fed Up 2012-01-26 01:50:19 Unknown
I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, especially when they are out of area. It's truly ridiculous how many times a day they call. And they NEVER leave a message. It's just plain annoying!
Sallie Mae Hater 2012-01-20 21:35:34 Debt Collector
I too owe Sallie Mae money, and they also call me 6 times a day. I told them after I file bankruptcy then I will start paying them. They didnt care, said it was unacceptable that i wouldnt pay my balance over the phone. I told the guy I will feed my family and you can have whats left and he said that was unacceptable. I too was at work and he was arguing with me. I told him I was busy and he said I was the one making the conversation last longer, so i said "well not any more" and i hung up on his natzi collecting a**. Sallie Mae can definitely suck it. God i wish there was a way to include school loans in a bankruptcy.
SHARK 2011-12-23 17:29:50 Debt Collector
They are great , don't leave a message -just call 8 times a day from 3 different phone #s
I got screwed as a unknowing cosigner by my brother for my Nephew Tyler
There is no working with these people
My nephew should have his school loan pulled / class canceled
Maybe that would get his Georgetown a** to pay his interest only loan himself
They don't care when i tell themI have been unemployed since March i can't make his $100 a month payment
Their reply -get a job
Word of advise ,don't get tricked into co-signing for anyone -Especially family !!!

1- I don't have a student loan with Sallie Mae
2- They call my cell, which I only give out to friends.
3- I don't answer numbers that I don't recognize.
Why in the world are they harassing me?
Patrick 2011-12-20 21:47:04 Unknown
well said... SallieMae can suck it.
kgersty 2011-12-20 18:54:22 Unknown
They called me on my cell phone when I was having lunch with friends. I told them that they were driving me crazy with all the phone calls, and to stop calling me, I asked them if they were trying to drive me to commit to suicide. They said they were going to have to call the State Police, to report me attempting suicide, can you imagine! I laughed and said that I was out having lunch with friends. The next thing I know, the State Police were calling me,to see if I was Ok!
The State Police had gone to my home and my youngest daughter of 11 years old answered the door. The Throoper asked if " I was at home?" and of course my daughter said that I was having lunch with friends.
I apologised to the Throoper for the inconvience and expained what had happened with Sallie Mae. He replied, " I just wanted to make sure you were ok."
I no longer answer any calls that are unknown or from out of state. I would pay my student loans, if I had a job, but because of this sucky economy, I work part-time, for less than what I made before I obtained any of my degrees. Something needs to be done about Sallie Mae.
Sarah 2011-12-20 18:13:08 Debt Collector
I realize I owe them (SallieMae) money... but I'm making payments every month (just not as many and as much as they demand) the best I can. They will not allow me to defer any of my loans... if I can't pay and I answer their phone calls, they will take everything I owe (interest and late fees included) and add it to my principle balance. they call 5-7 times a day, even on weekends... and now they've started calling me at work! (SO embarrassing when my secretary offers to pay my loan for me if I'm too poor) is all that really necessary? I'm doing the best I can.
A friend of mine told them she couldn't afford payments and the lady actually told her to try using washable cloth instead of tampons to save money! seriously!?!? these people are out of control.
agreed - ignore calls and pretend I'm lost in the wilderness somewhere. they can come find my body and take the change in my pocket if it means that much to them.
Chad 2011-11-02 21:21:29 Unknown
I also owe sallie mae money, and get calls from this number much in the same way they call me. So we can be pretty sure it's them. Let's all just turn off the lights, pop in a movie (at low volume of course), and pretend we're not home.
fed up 2011-09-08 15:47:16 Debt Collector
Even when you call them back and let them know you are aware you are a little behind and will make a payment on the 15th (not even a month behind), they keep calling. Drives me nuts. I could just avoid their calls instead of calling them back (which is what I think I will do now).
leasy 2011-09-03 14:47:11 Unknown
i am constantly receiving calls from this number. the person on the other end never identifies self or leaves a message.
