I just read a message from Achieve Card saying they didn't send these messages. I didn't know there was an Achieve Card, so I apologize for claiming they sent it. It is obviously a phishing scam.

I received a text from 317-550-9276 stating the following: ACHIEVECARD ALERT:Your CARD starting with 5300 has been DEACTIVATED. Please call 512-430-4842. I did call from work the next day and call dropped after one ring.

THIS IS A COMMON PHISHING SCAM AIMED AT MOBILE PHONE USERS
DO NOT CALL THE PHONE NUMBER IN THE MESSAGE
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PIN NUMBER
REPORT ALL SMS PHISHING MESSAGES TO YOUR MOBILE PHONE PROVIDER ? THEY CAN HELP STOP THEM AT THE SOURCE.

I received the following message on Feb. 22, 2011 at 2:30pm:
ACHIEVECARD ALERT: Your CARD starting with 5300 has been DEACTIVATED. Please call: 512-430-4842

I live in the Austin area (512 area code), but I do not have any cards starting with 5300. This is obviously a scam and I will not call the number from my phones. I will stop at a pay phone today and call. I will let you all know what happens. I HATE SCAMS!

I got one yesterday afternoon too. With the ACHIEVECARD beginning with 5300. Nothing that I have. Either phishing... or I suspect it's one of those things that'll confirm your phone number and bombard you with advertising texts. I'm not responding.

I also received this message from a 317 with a 512 callback. The digits listed do not correspond to my card, obviously a scam.

Sent me a text message that said, "FINANCE CENTER FCU Alert: Your CARD starting 4219 with has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 317-550-9258." Yes, I did not type this as a mistake, your card starting 4219 with"...and the number to call is only 2 numbers off from the one that texted me. I checked all my credit cards and none of them start with these numbers. I have not called back but wanted to report this. I may phone back from a pay phone.
