This is a scam, they sent me a text saying it was from directexpress and my card was inactive and needed to call them. All they wanted was my personal information and change my cards so they can access to it. Be careful cause from my understanding any debt collector or card holder would NOT be calling you from a local number. Only a scam does that. You should be getting a call from a 1 800 or 888 number if it was from your debt collector. this number is definitely a scam.

It's depressing enough to have lost a job and home and family ! Are Creditors really unaware of the suffering and unfortunate circumstances of others?

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Collection calls at those hours are "an invasion" of nothing until you have given notice that certain hours are inconvenient.

You can ask, but you aren't getting those things. Unsecured credit card contracts won't have your signature anyway. Use of the account becomes your agreement to the terms. A handful of billing statements obtained from the lender, while proving little, are enough to satisfy debt validation.
"Discharge" of debt is something you do in bankruptcy. Possibly you meant "charge off", which a creditor is REQUIRED to do by federal law. Lender contracts all say the debt can be assigned or sold to any collector they please, so you don't control that either.
When demanding validation it is enough to state that you dispute the debt claim. It's the collector's problem to make meaning of that. Making a shopping list of legal discovery-type items won't enforce your rights, but it will create a road map for defeating you if the creditor decides to file suit.

I've had numerous calls from this number in the last week, out of the blue. I found it on another website for reporting calls and they say it's Pinnacle Collections, a debt collector. I've got no outstanding debts, so don't know why they're calling me. When I did answer one time, nobody was there. Totally annoying.

Pinnacle Collections
THATS EXCATLY WHAT IT IS.
DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY..
Ask them for your "SIGNED IN INK" contract that made the debt valid.
and also for a copy of the contract you signed stating that some entity had been given permission to discharge the debt.
they will try to argue, but they cant, so they have no power.
piss on em.

Had several calls the past few days from this number (Oct 2012), answered once and had a woman asking for someone that has never had this number (it has been our number for over 10 years). Told them they had the wrong number and she hung up on me. I blocked the #.

This number was on caller ID, no ID listed on phone. We usually do not return calls to numbers that are not identified, or even answer them. Look them up, usually the same type noted above: If we do answer, there is no one on the line, or if we call back, it is disconnected or no one answers. No reason for a debt collector to be calling.
| X 2010-01-28 20:11:58 Unknown |
They called me and it was disconnected. I called back and talked to a lady that said she would transfer me, disconnected again. Called again because I am waiting for an important call, and I was disconnected again. Weird...
