Charities that have "police" or "fire department"  in their name are notorious for being frauds.  They typically keep at least 95% of every donation to cover expenses.  Don't give then any money.  

If you are getting lots of calls from the same number contact your provider to see if the number can be blocked.  If they are calling your cell phone put them in your contacts list and assign them the ring tone "no ring".

Received a call from this number yesterday.  Caller said he was with Brevard County FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) collecting annual donations.  I asked him to fax me information regarding the fundraiser and the letter head says--Brevard County Fraternal Order of Police, 566 Barton Blvd. #8, Rockledge, FL  32955, 321-635-8861.  Went to their website and it doesn't look like it's been updated since 2007.

I have received multiple calls ( usually daily) on my do not call listed cell phone. They never leave a message and when I have attempted to answer there is no response. Finally out of frustration I called the number back and let it ring for a very long time--finally a machine picked up the call and I heard people in background. I spoke loudly HELLO HELLO into the phone until a person answered--They claim to be Police Benevolent Association. I requested not to be called again
