Thanks for all the info on Scott.  He is my neighbor and the talk of the street.  Pathetic.  Heavy into drugs. Doing a search to see if any of the churches or people swindled have done a police report.  Found info he has scammed in other states - but no warrant.  He needs to go into the Big House or a treatment center to dry up.
He lives in Orlando.

Just got the same call today. Called me right before Church. Gave me the exact same story. When I told him his name was all over the internet he hung up on me. Called from 407-488-7248

Received a call from him this morning. Same story. Mother killed by drunk driver. Needed money ($125.00 for bus fare) because car was broke down. Wanted me to wire it to Wal-Mart. Called from 407-488-7248

Same story!  Scott Koren called my house last night and spoke to my wife.  He told my wife that he visited our church a few weeks ago and that she would remember his wife Christina and daughter Jessica.  He did his homework as he asked for me by name and the pastor of our church by name.  Said his mother was killed by a drunk driver and that his family needed $125 for bus fare home from Florida.  After being questioned by another member of our church council, he hung up the phone.  He used the # 407-488-7248.  We are a small church in South Kansas City, MO.

I was a childhood friend of Scott Koren (real name).  We grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He has been in jail before and has been a scam artist all his life.  He is not married.  He lives in Orlando, Florida.  He has been arrested as a habitual drug user.  Has a daughter who does not live with him and spends his time swindling churches mostly.  Talked to him last night after our 25th high school reunion (which he did not attend).  He then gave me a sob story and asked for money.  When I didn't agree to send it (I know him to well), he hung up on me.  Most of his friends were surprised he was not in jail or dead by now.  Guess he is floating just below the surface, but hasn't changed.  Lying is very easy for him and very convincing.  Called from 407-488-7248.

We got a call from a Scott Corn at 407-488-7248.  He knew the pastors names, and we do have a lot of visitors, so we fell for it.  Same story.  My Husband prayed for him.

Yup, got a call from Scott in florida today on my answer machine which is private but takes messages for a small church.  He just asked me to call back. When I got home and tried to return the call his message box was full, which caused me to investigate googling his number, and here I came.  

Maybe he is in jail or something by now? We get so many walk- in requests like this that w started having them fill out a form so we can have a committee review it and check the info before giving $5 to $25 to all comers.  They have to have some verifiable ID and then if its a scam we have the data on them to report.

Scott called our church this morning with the exact same story shared by Mike. He said he had two daughters instead of just one. We are located in NH so he is calling all over the country. He used the 407-488-7248 Florida number. When I started to question his story and told him I did not recognize his family he hung up on me.

Scott called me over the weekend. Same Story, but going to Friendswood, TX. He even gave me a local home address. I am a pastor of a larger church and don't know everyone who visits, but I began to check out his story. When I pressed him on his mother's name and funeral home he gave 2 different phone numbers for the home - both not valid. I could tell he was getting upset by my questioning. I strung him along for a while saying I could help (having a bit of fun myself). Finally, called him on it and told him about all I read about him and his ongoing scam, and when I told him that some day he would stand before Christ and give an account of himself, he hung up.

By the way, we are a little country church in northern Indiana- this scam artist is far reaching, I have seen he has called pastors in WI, WA, etc. all over the place! Beware!

I think Scott Koren tried another number prior to 321-848-1313, again from Florida: 407-488-7248.
Other details I forgot to mention earlier: he said his mother had been killed by a drunk driver, and he even had the nerve to ask me to pray for him during the phone call!

Getting calls today, 4-5-12, from Scott Koren at 321-848-1313- you can find him on this site with this name and with slightly altered spellings. Same scam or very similar to others listed for numbers 321-460-3066, 321-442-4206, etc. Called my small church saying he visited 6 or 7 weeks ago, he and his wife Christine and daughter Jessica. Only problem is, I pastor a small church and I talk to every person that comes in and out the doors, and I know they were not there, and others have verified this. The short of his story is: went to Florida for mom's funeral, headed back to area and Olds threw a rod, have enough money for wife to return but need money wired to them quickly for tickets for he and daughter to return. Tells me to go to Wal-Mart and they can wire it to him at the Wal-Mart near him in Fern Park, FL where he is stranded.
UPDATE: He just called me back as I was typing, he asked if I as going to help, I said I was not because he was a scam artist, I looked him up online, and that I was going to pray for him and that I hoped he would stop scamming people... and he abruptly hung up.
