oh funny.............there are two calls from these people my two comments above.........idiots

This is the second FAKE CALL I HAVE GOTTEN. The first one the women found my info on linked. I owe nothing, I know this because everything has to be paid off in order to purchase my home. which i am in the process of doing so this is all BS SCAMS I wouldnt pay any of these companies a dime, this has happened to me twice and they have called for the office managers FRIEND...who also owes nothing, and WTF are you doing calling her "friend" at her job to talk about her, LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do not fall for this S***, karma will get you idiots. May your forever rot.

I got a call from this # on Thursday May 29th 2014 @ 2:48 pm CST. A woman asked for Lauren (I don't remember the last name she used because I was not familiar with it.) and she acted as though she & the woman she asked for were friends. I have another phone number & received, but did not answer, a call from this same #. I've had both #'s for over 6 years, & this is becoming a real pain. Is this some kind of scam? Shouldn't these people know the correct numbers to call?

They called me a bit ago. Verified me by birthdate but tried by SSN. I declined them doing that and they tried for about 3 minutes and I would not disclose  not over a cell phone.

Called them back at 323-446-0630, put me on hold for about 2 minutes after I went through their stupid automated menu.  When he came back, he gave me the "somebody might have used you as a 'reference' at one time" BS, and I said "Reference?  What for?"  to which he replied "Uh... maybe just to use you as a reference, but actually, in the future if we need to get a hold of you, it would be helpful if you could just give us your social, and..."

I cut him off and said, "How about you just remove my number from your system and don't call me again."

"Okay sir, we can do that."

"Do it right now."

F*** these guys, something shady going on.

In the past week this number has called me everyday all hours even after 9on. When asking who they are I always get the same smart reply cti, they can't give anymore information until I verify everything they want, my dob, ss#, and address. Once I told them I refuse to give person info like that to someone calling from 3000 miles away they started calling out information about me, which is 14 years old, how do you manage to get a current number but nothing else that is current. The main info they want verified is my social, no way will that happen. If this is in reguards to a student loan then why don't they have the correct address that was put on the application? Who do I contact to get the calls to stop?

Here is my story and let me be clear I am not amused!!!!!

This woman called my "work" asking for me, asking if I had received the "correspondence" she sent. The women who answered the phone was smart enough to see that the caller ID said Collection Tech Inc. When the caller found out that I was not at that business she hung up.
My first clue that this was a scam was the fact that I had just paid off the last little bit of debt on my credit report due to the fact we will be purchasing our first house. You can say well maybe its a debt that company didn't see when they pulled your report. 1. I know what debts I had and 2. it was pulled by 6 different companies none of which brought this companies name up. I've also seen my credit reports.
So annoyed I googled the number and came across all of these stories, which mine seems to match. I called this number back explaining that someone was looking for me, wanting to get to the bottom of this BS. I gave her my name and she replied we have no record of your name, you must have been put down as a reference, really why would you be sending me "correspondence"  if I was a "reference"  
My facebook does not say where I work so I had no idea how these people got my number, until I realized I had not checked my Linkedin account in some time, sure enough ONE VIEW with this collection agents name. They saw where they "thought" I worked and probably decided to google the info, to get what out of me exactly I have no clue......BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! If they try to contact me again I will be reporting them!!!

I am getting unwanted calls from this number, 323-446-0630, I think they are phishing for me to call back and get info. I wihs this would stop

Answered call and they asked for Elizabeth XXXXX.  I said you have the wrong number.  My guess is that it is a collection agency.

They called my work wanting to do an employment verification. And said it was a personal matter wouldn't give any information. Who is this? And if it's just a collection agency are they allowed to do that?

I would like this place whatever it is to stop calling my job.

Fine. But when you call people and they attempt to answer and navigate through your system and you don't respond or they can't get through it comes across as something not legitimate and its alot of that going on.  When you begin to make payments and then it is transferred to someone people don't know who you are unless you state that.

They called me and asked for Winston, I told them they had a wrong number.

They then said did I know Winston and told the lady no.   She act like I was hiding some Winston person.

Duh, already told her she had a wrong number.

Enough already this number calls at least two times a day. They have really pissed me off.

This number called yesterday and I have never heard of them and I owe no money.  It came up on CID as Collection Tech.  Maybe it was just a wrong number, who knows.

Called asking if this was the P..... residence, since that is my two year old grandsons last name I said yes.  They were seeking to talk to his father in regard to a friend of his.

This company is a legitimate company that works with delinquent student loan debtors to work out your federal student loan debt and to get it paid off in a timely fashion, opposed  to ignoring it and letting eat up your credit report.

Also, If they are contacting you asking about a relative that is because the relative gave you as a reference. you have to give three references so, guess what, they gave you as one of them. so instead of yelling at the person on the phone calling you, call the relative and ask them why they gave you as a reference.

This is called fishing. They r fishing for info. Them they will take u to cleaners. Don't answer because when u do they r stealing info from your phone.

These people are extremely rude. They will ask for your personal information. They will ask where you bank, other loans you have, and references to get ahold of you. After talking to my financial advisors, you are not supposed to give any of this information to them. They called late in the evening and I told them I could not speak to them at this point in time. They tried a scare tactic and said it has been over a year and you haven't talked to us.  I scheduled an appointment with them the next day. The person I spoke with had to get off the phone because of a meeting. They said they would call back within 20 minutes. It took them 2 hours to return the call. They offered me ways to pay my loan back. I do not have a job and kept telling them I did not. They said: "why don't you ask your mom for payments?" They said I was uncooperative and they would not this on my file. I was trying to explain to them I would make payments once I obtained a job, while the woman was talking over me. I said I wasn't uncooperative because I was returning their phone call and I cannot make the payments because I don't have a job. She asked why did I even call if I wasn't planning on paying or setting up a payment plan. The lady said she would note on my file again, and then I hung up on me. After speaking to my financial advisors, they said to report them to Consumer Financial Bureau 855-411-2372. My financial advisors also told me to contact my state Attorney General. They scared me. Were completely rude. They have all my information they I didn't know I was not supposed to give. The woman I spoke with has looked on my Linkedin profile. All there last names are "Smith" (i believe for their protection). BE CAREFUL dealing with these people. I am trying to be responsible about my student loan debt.  I spent almost over 6 hours dealing with these people and to find out what happened and what I did wrong. Calling back and forth through my bank and filing complaints.

I have no outstanding anything..loans, debt, etc...calls from this number are interupting my classes (i am a teacher) .  I want to sue this number because of unjustifiable harrassment, and interuption of work and school day.

Stop calling. Its criminal to harass people.
