I asked why she don't pay the movers herself and answer with anger that she was too busy, this what worried me most in fact and the fact that ou have to pay by western union (in france, it is always a scum if they ask you to pay by western union). I don't know what kind of scum it is, I'm french and I have never seen this kind of scum in France ??

Richard Potter sent me an email regarding an item I had for sale on Craigslist. A couple red flags were that he asked me to send him pics and my final asking price. Those details were already on my post. I asked him what time he wanted to come by to see my item and he responded with very broken English. He wanted to arrange payment without seeing my item in person. No way man!!

I too got an email concerning a boat prop I had advertised on Craig's List. The first thing that caught my eye was the sending email address... "intheairlo.vemakingsexual@gmail.com"

I went ahead and answered and the next thing was I got a rather lengthy reply almost immediately which made me more suspicious, and then some of the wording seemed strange. "OK with the condition", "extra $40 for you to hold item", "I will have my handler come for pickup", payment is "bound to delivered within 2 to 3 days", "...i really need this and would appreciates that you help hold this for me"

By now I really thinking this is scam, so I googled "jholt6262" and lo and behold I find this little place.

Spread the word, I'm reporting to Craig's List right after this.

Later and cautious selling.

How timely is that!   I was wondering, how does "Richard Potter" profit from this scam?  I have an antique Danish modern chair that is listed on Craigslist Seattle for $600.  Potter sent the typical email, promising me an extra $40 to hold the chair and cancel my listing (I have not done this).  The last email from him promised me a US$2540 check (Cashier's? Bank draft?) along with this message:

"Thanks for sending the requested Information for payments. Additional
funds for pick up charges as quoted by my movers will be sent along
with your funds on a single check, you are to pay the movers via
Walmart Western union or Money Gram after check clearance with the
additional funds, I am i  no rush with you as I will await bank
clearance before we proceed further once you received the payments.
Payments will be out through Express Post and you should get it at
your address in the next 2-3 days, you can delete the advert today and
consider it sold to avoid interruption by others, then write me back
so i can proceed with payment ASAP."

So, presumably Potter expected me to hand his "movers" a
Walmart Western union or Money Gram money order in the amount of $1900.  I have already told him to Fr@k off but the scenario got me wondering how his outfit would make money, especially if I waited for his $2500 check to clear my bank.

I have received the same type of emails asking me to hold an item and then pay his movers to pick it up.  I did email him my street address before I found this forum.  If he sends me a check I will probably just destroy it.
I did not receive a call.

I got the same message through Craigslist. I told him I  would send him a check for 1,000,000 yen and when he cashed it. He could give me my part and keep the rest all i needed was his contact info.
then I forwarded the message to Spam@uce.gov, Craigslist and gmail phishing contacts. We don't need to ignore this stuff so they can prey on someone else we need to report it or hunt them down and torture them.

Good thing I had a gut feeling. As soon as i responded back to his email "is this still available?" It literally took 3seconds before i got a response.. The message was too long to written up that fast! so i thought it was fishy.

Same "guy" same message on a listing we put on a homeschool website!  I don't get it.

I received a check today for $2800.00 from this person who says he is John Ramos, I am selling an item on craigs list for $250.00 and i am supposed to send back the balance thru money gram to his shipper.
This is a scam and the check is no good and now he is texting me saying i better do what he says or i'm in trouble. There are so many of these scammers out there, this is the third check i have received this week, NEVER SEND ANY FUNDS THRU MONEY GRAM OR WESTERN UNION UNLESS YOU PERSONALLY KNOW THE PERSON YOU ARE SENDING TO, NEVER FOR ANY REASON !!!

He's still at it...same stupid routine on ads from craig's list...seems as though he has nothing better to do with his time......unless hopefully he starts doing "time" in the pen for mail fraud....

LOL you would think that they would have studied harder in crime school, probably too much time in the showers or biting pillows in the cell. Third time for me on Craigslist, one actually sent me a $2500.00 check via Fed Ex, to buy a $100.00 bike. Fake check from some "save Africa charity" from Missouri, return address in Maine, mailed from Arkansas, wanted me to send cash to Florida. They chased me for a week, worst thing, when I told them I am a Lieutenant with the Virginia State Police, they still kept it up. Had to laugh thought, because as soon as they put their fake check into the mail, or other courier like Fed EX or UPS, it becomes interstate mail fraud, and is a federal crime. If you get something from one of these "Bright Bulbs" don't open it, just take it over to the post office and give it to the Postal Inspector.
