When I called this number back, it was a Union Bank branch. Nothing shady for me. They were calling to verify a check I wrote.

I got a call from one John Andrews at this phone number.  He claimed to work for two companies, Kroll and BPLSI.  He wanted to meet me at 11022 Aviation Blvd in Los Angeles, near the airport, about a job opportunity.   I searched 11022 Aviation and it is a restaurant called Proud Bird. He was very vague about the job description, saying that he didn't know what position I would qualify for but he needed to meet with me tomorrow to discuss that.  He was very pushy about meeting me but still refused to divulge any information on what I would be doing.  I am tempted to go just out of curiosity, but the whole thing seems very fishy to me.

I received the same phone call today from John Andrews (323) 900-9238. He claimed to work for Kroll as well, but did not mention BPLSI. Both Kroll and its parent company have minimal websites with very little information, so I am concerned with this random phone call.
He wanted to meet me on Friday at a restaurant called Opus on Wilshire. I was willing to hear him out, and agreed to meet him but now that I'm reading this it does indeed seem fishy. If anyone else received this phone call today please respond here. BTW I posted my resume on MONSTER.COM if that resonates with anyone else's suspicions. Thank you.

So I received a message from a John Andrews today as well. Really vague. Didn't even leave information on the company he worked for. It seemed really fishy to me, so I decided to run a search on the number...Voila! I posted my resume on Monster. But I also posted it on CareerBuilder.

My information matches Kyle's exactly.  I updated my resume on Monster on Monday, received this call today.  I didn't remember sending them my resume.  Caller John Andrews, wanting me to meet him at Opus restaurant on Wilshire either Thursday at 7 or Friday at noon.  He spoke with a Nigerian-type accent (I used to have a college prof from Nigeria with the same accent).  I'm glad I found this website as we all agree, something feels wrong about this.  There was also no mention as to who was paying for this lunch!

Same info:  "This is John Andrews, I've got some good news for you. Please call me at 323-900-9238."
Sounded like a scam immediately.

Have resumes on both monster and careerbuilder.

Same thing. Left me a voice mail with "good news." I replayed the message about 3 times in an attempt to figure out WHERE he was calling from - then I tried Googling the number. Woohoo! I also have a resume on Monster and Careerbuilder.

Recd a call from this number claiming he was a debt collector.  He was phishing for information such as my parents names and such.  I will be filing a police report tomorrow and encourage each of you to do the same.  This is where identity theft starts.  I too have a resume on monster and career builder.  I will also be contacting them as well.  For those of you that he stated a company name that he represented, you may contact the company and make them aware of the situation.  Often times companies will conduct their own internal investigation and contact local or federal authorities.
These con artists only achieve success when no one takes action!

He wants you to start a pre-paid legal franchise. Its supposed to be legimate but you wont make enough money out of it. He, however will make money out of you though. Stay away from Pre-paid legal! Mant people consider it to be a pyramid scam.

Hey all, look here...this is your typical shady afiliate marketer:

http://johnaandrews.buildlastingsuccess.com/

he is probably at a call center in Jamaica. If you want to get charged lots of money for nothing, go ahead and meet with him.
