I got one of these today, from "Investigator Strickland" of the "Fraud Investigations Unit."  The person  he said they were "investigating" lived in my house before I did -- i.e., more than 10 years ago.  His callback number (which I won't use, of course) was (205) 282-6192

Can't get rid of these scam artists -- they continue to call and leave messages for someone who had my number several years ago.  They change their numbers around, but it's the same outfit.  They leave a message to call 800-957-1987 about an important legal matter.  I've reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and my state (MO) Attorney General, but haven't heard of any prosecutions yet.

It's best not to answer their calls -- and don't make the mistake of calling back on their toll-free number to complain; it just lets them know that they have an active number.

The number from which I received the call traced back to a Magic Jack landline in Youngstown, OH.

I keep getting phone calls from this number, but everytime I answer it no one says anything. I even let it go to voicemail but the caller never leaves a message. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with this other number that called me today. A woman named Adrian Lucas called me from (202)239-0495 today. The number has called my phone before usually on the same day as the (330)406-0431 number but I've never answered thmm before. This woman first called my brother and said I was going 2 be arrested for fraud so I called her back. As soon as I asked her what it was about she started yelling at me telling me they were getting a warrant. I hung up and started to worry until I googled the 202 number. Its just a scare tactic she uses to get people to pay bills that have went into collections. But I've learned in the past that once a bill is sold it can be sold to more than one agency and I made the mistake of paying one and finding out it was sold to 2 different places. I know my credit is a little messed up right now but I'm not going 2 give any money 2 people I don't know and who threaten me. I just wish I could stop their harrassing calls.

I also received calls plural from this woman on my cell yesterday.  I do not know in regard to what as no company name is mentioned.  I also wondered why would I get a cryptic phone message rather than a certified letter regarding the issue on business stationary with identifying information.  This is an illegal practice in Pennsylvania.  I have reported the calls so perhaps it will help!!!

she just called me also, saying that 2 felony charges will be issued against me in the county I live in for some debt I incurred in NJ. I live in Florida. she must have some very good connections if she is able to issue warrants in one state for a debt incurred while living in another state. TOTAL SCAM! I asked for their address and she stated "I cant give out our address for security purposes"...HA!!! She called in from a Florida number, also uses an Ohio number, won't give a company name or address, and then will try to pry you for personal information. SCAM!

I just received a call from Raquel Thompson at WORK, of all places, asking if I knew (my brother's name). She said there were charges against him for check fraud and he needed to contact her asap. I asked first how in the hell did she get my work number and second why don't they call him. She said she was going to try calling him after me. Um, hello, idiot. This is a total SCAM. FYI...the # they asked to call was 1-888-959-8352. Good Luck!

My mom is too! This is definitely sounding like a scam! Raquel is rude and definitely not practicing good business. I'm certain this would not be a criminal matter. And why is there not an official name for the office. Where is it located? How come they don't have a website. Definitely not legitimate.

I got the same call from Raquel Thomspon. The only difference is that she claimed to be calling about my brother-in-law. I can't believe the nerve of her! Anyway, I was VERY NASTY to her in my reply message and don't expect to hear from her again.

Same message here - except they used a name of  a person that has been using my phone number. Banks and creditors have been calling my house for years with the person that she mentioned. Strange.... Will wait and see if they call again....

I'm getting the EXACT same thing - I guess we both have had complaints filed against us - ha, ha, go figure.  Definitely sounds like a scam - they probably want some info, to try to commit fraud themselves.  Would like to hear if anyone else is getting these calls.

I received the following voicemail message on my cell phone from an unnamed company today:  "This message is for (First and Last Name).  My name is Raquel Thompson.  I?m an investigator with the Fraud Investigations Unit.  We have a major complaint being filed against you.  And per State and Federal law I am required to obtain a legal statement before proceeding legally to _______ County.  (First Name), it?s in your best interest to contact my office immediately at 888-959-8352.  When calling in reference Case No. **** *****.  (First Name), if I do not hear from before the charges are filed, I advise you to govern yourself accordingly and good luck."

I can only assume this is a scam.  First, no comapny name was provided.  If this was a legitimate claim I would imagine they would be more than willing to provide the name of their office/company and not just simply say they are with the "Fraud Investigations Unit".  So friggin what?!  Just because I, on occasion, conduct some research and/or investigation doesn't make me an investigator or make me an employee of an investigations unit.  Nice try though Raquel!

Second, I don't currently live in the county they are going to legally proceed in....or the state that county is in for that matter.  Which means they don't have my current information.  Information they would have access to if they were a legitimate company, planning on filing legitimate claims/charges, since I am a legal resident and filed taxes w/in the state I currently reside in.

Third...don't threaten me.  I mean really, Raquel.  Not a good business practice...fraudulent company or not.  It's just not good business.

So, now that I'm done venting.... Good luck to you all if/when you receive a call from this number and are provided with the above-referenced toll free number and asked to return a call regarding supposed fraud charges being filed against you.  Oh...and tell Raquel I said hello!!
