called 4 times in the last month, no one on the other end, it disconnects after a couple seconds like it is one of those automatic dialers, and no one is available on the calling end to transfer to.

they called me @9:52am im not sure if i answered so i tried to see whose number it belonged to since i dont have long distance, but i see they have called severel other people. i thought it was my son's bus calling. do any body know who they are?

This number is affiliated with the Disabled Firefighters. Their M.O. is to call your home, but not say anything and hang up. I think they're trying to find out if the number in their databse is a working number. Frustrating, to say the least, because they're not obliged to adhere to the Do Not Call List ... if they're a charitable (501.c.3)organization.

Difficult to trace - - receive about two calls per month from this number.  As above, no one on the line so don't know where they are from.

This place is ran by John Wright of Indianapolis the Company is Called the Campaign Center located in Bloomington Indiana. They are ran by felons and drug addicts. Mr. Wright is friends with the Family that owns the disabled firefighters fund. They are all spidered webbed together threw out the USA ripping folks off calling in the name of the disabled firefighters fund,Disabled veterens fund as well as cancer for kids and every other kind of program that might trigger the emotion so we give money. If asked they are suppose to say that 15% goes to the charity but the truth is that 85 percent goes to MR. Wright and the like and 15% goes to the charity at witch point they pay all of their adminestration fees. When it is all said and done .07% goes to the one with cancer or what have you. Google Disabled firefighters fund or any charity of the like and educate yourself on these cons.

Opearation False Charity is a blanket statement, some Charities are false and some are not they are just victims of high fundrasing costs and a very weak economy. These economic times it is true every dollar should be used to help and less to Fundraisers maybe Congress will come up with a legal amount of how much Paid Fund Rasiers can recieve, so struggling Charities do not have to accept such low amounts of donations. I wish people could have seen the faces and the letters of the Brave Firemen and Women that were helped, and the countless times DFF was able to help them when no one else would. I wish we could have done more and now sadly some of these Brave Fire Personal will suffer and thats a shame.

I'm in MA... have received two from "disabled firefighters fund" in two days.  They claim I have given to them in the past (which is not true).  I got fooled by the "police protective fund" once and I believe they may all be the same telemarketing company.  I thank them very much and tell them what a great idea and I'm going to cut a check and go to my local police station or fire house and donate immediately.  I always get cursed and hung up on.

Yes this person is right. EVERYONE needs to complete the complaint forms about this company!!!

It's a commercial business "The Campaign Center" calling for a non profit org "Disabled Firefighters Fund" .. and they ARE BREAKING THE LAW!

Several people here have reported receiving calls AFTER 9pm ILLEGAL... also the DROPPED CALLS the ones where we are answering HELLO HELLO HELLO and there is nobody there.. ILLEGAL.

Hey Straight I guess you were confused 4 people with families, were helped alone in Ohio, not counting the other states if you were to count all the families and burn centers nation wide its more like over a 100 in less than 2 years. I know DFF past and they are NOT here any longer the management, and we are working to get Grants and Funds in other ways.I wish you could see and hear the very thankful Fire Fighters we have helped and their families than maybe you would understand? I can assure you ANY state that doesnt allow Fundrasing will be checked out and be worked with and I hope you have a nice New Years 08, and I truly do understand but we are helping the Fire Fighters and Burn centers and thats what we will continue to do my respectful regards.

That's good advice for a simple way to end those telemarketing calls, but do you really have to be such a jerk about it?  Why are so many people in this country today so rude like yourself?  This forum is for people who want to know who is calling them at all hours and some do not know how to get them to stop calling.  You are the one who maybe doesn't need to get a life, but rather improve your life instead of being so condescending to everyone.

I went back and looked at your statement about the Fundrasier charged with the Fraud, I want to make it perfectly clear ANY FRAUD is not welcomed by DFF and I take FRAUD very seriously.The ownership of that group are all going through the legal system and are innocent until proven guilty so lets let the law run its course, mean while we will make sure we continue to help as many Fire Personnel and Burn centers as possible, and do our best to get Fundraising at a more reasonable amount in 08, and beyond. Lastly to get off DFF call list please call their main charity number and during NORMAL business hours and they at DFF will make sure you are not inconvienced anymore or can answer your questions. DFF helped 4 fire dept people in 06-07, to approx estimate of over 50,000.00 thats just Ohio alone.

With all due respect your research is incomplete, average of 7% goes to the programs and the rest is spent on Paid Funraisers, and Charity overhead. I give you years ago in 03,04, it was very low but as off 05, it has grown to almost 7% in 07, You say below 3% is recent? have you gotten a recent updated audit? as far as your slanderous comment DFF is a fake Charity I would remind you to get your facts straight,DFF is registered in every state that is called upon for Fundraising, so dont spread a lie or reveal false allegations.The Paid fundraisers does other charitys and your comment we are all tied into together with Cancer Assisiance, and National Disabled officers etc is again imop a Slanderous comment and not truthful, DFF is not owned by anyone or is tied into the charitys stated above on this page. What your talking about is a Paid fundrasier who was charged with fraud for the charitys they were operating again get your facts straight. DFF was one of the other charities they were working for, but wasnt charged with any crime because DFF didnt do anything wrong.Paid fundraisers are a BIG part of most charitys a FACT, some charitys pay Fundraisers a lot less than others another FACT, there are no rules on how much a Paid funraiser can get another FACT, Paid funrasiers dont have to tell the people they call how much they keep and what the charity actually gets unless the caller asks another FACT. I respect the AARP and I also know that Paid Funraisers dont work for free, 40-50 hrs a week,commission, people screaming at you just for calling, its a hard job but we also let disabled fire personal know who they can call and get help from, and thats one of the great reasons they are there the charity to help and they do help.I have many fire personal call and thank us for the help and we know good is being done. Some of the stuff on DFF is old and out dated from 2004, its doing much better now just give them a chance it will get better.

Did some research on this charity and it seems that a couple of call centers in Iowa got shut down and and the owners of this of the call center were arrested for scamming the public out of over 10 million dollars the police sent undercovers to work at the call center where they were told to use a script that made it sound like they had donated before as well as a slew of other illegal issues you can find this story at www.aarp/bullitin/consumer/scam_alert_purse_strings.html thats right the AARP web site and the chairity in question thats right the DISABLED FIREFIGHTERS FUND!!!!!

How is 3% a lot of help moron or do you run a call center?

Hi Folks again I wanted to let you know that your name can be taken off the list of the Paid Fundraiser by calling the Charity directly, during Normal business hours. I think the only thing you will need is a pledge number, your phone number area code first, the state you are calling from.I hope this helps no one should be bothered if someone wants the phone calls to stop from a fundraiser this is all you have to do and it will stop that call.Remind you this applies only to the one charity, other charities may call you also, so if that happens do the same thing as above I hope everyone has a nice Holiday season.

If anyone wants to get there name taken off the charity that is calling you all you have to do is get the main corporate number of the charity. I suggest going on the website of the charity in question and call them directly during NORMAL business hours.It takes about 3 minutes all they need is your name on the receipt and a pledge number, and its a done deal. If you dont have a pledge number then might I suggest you make sure who is calling you and what charity they are representing, and again go on their website and call them directly so that they can at least let the fundrasier know you dont want to be called again.I see some of the posts here are just complaining and thats not going to help. I hope this helps because people have a right to be free of calls etc, its understandable. Take care

Get your facts straight, Paid solictitors file reports with every state to do fund raising so for you to say its a fraud is your lack of knowledge. I find is silly that people write such hogwash because of the lack of knowledge of the subject. Ohio has recieved quite a bit of help for the firemen and thats a fact not fraud. The Do not call list doesnt apply to non-profit, so get your name of the non-profit list no big deal it takes minutes wow what a concept. As far as your statement that its being closed down state by state again wheres your fact? your wrong again. I hope you try to get the facts straight and not bend it wrong. Just a thought?
