Almost the exact ting happened to me except I never went to the airport. When I called my relatives and verified my cousin was not traveling the jig was up. When she called back I told her I was reporting this to the FBI and she quickly hung up. Total scam targeting Spanish speaking people. The number is surely re-directed but it could come from IL or France.

Lady called saying she was my cousin and that she needed a pic up at the airport. Then she called and said she was stuck in customs in Mexico and needed me to wire $1000. I called and found out my cousin was not traveling. This lady is a crook trying to scam Spanish speaking people out of $1000.

The FTC warns about the family emergency scam here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt111.pdf  I think names and addresses are considered public info so giving them away isn't particularly harmful but the scammers may try to use the info you supplied to scam your siblings/family/relatives. Best to warn all how you were almost scammed in detail so they can recognize the scam in advance should they get called. Report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx

I received a call from this number last night.  The person kept calling my Tia (aunt in spanish).  Claiming to be a long lost relative.  Here is the kicker she had my name and my sister.  She actually sounded just like one of my cousins from mexico.  She said she would be flying into our town the next day for 2 weeks and wanted to stay with us.  She asked that me pick her up at BWI airport at 12 noon.  We actually believed it because she sounded just like our cousin and they had given her name.  We showed up at the airport and as you can imagine no one was there.  An hour after she was supposed to be there she called and said she was stuck in mexicali and because of all the presents she was bringing to us she was asked to pay taxes with money she did not have.  She then proceded to ask if I would speak with the immigration officer where they proceeded to ask me questions to verify her identitiy.  I gave only my last name and the city my family is from in Mexico, but when they asked for money to pay the fines, I suspected something was wrong and called my cousin at home and her daughters let me know she was working.  I realized I was scammed.  I did not give any money, but I did give my first and last name and the location of where my family lives.  Should I be worried?  By the way when they called back I called their bluff and they immediately hung up
