just recvd a call from someone saying they were relatives and wanted to surprise visit us. at first we were very leery but thought hey it could happen. they called about an hour later and said that they were in a accident and that the person they hit wanted to get paid money. my so called family member didn't want the police involved and wanted to know if we could help with paying the guy he hit with some money since all the family member had was a check. when asked where they were located they were not sure. the relative had us speak to the man he hit and he said he needed to get to mexico and could  not wait for the relatives check and if we didn't come through with the money he would get the cops involved. while on the phone with this guy we called our relatives in California and they confirmed that our so called relative was in California at work. we continued to ask the guy for his location and he wouldn't respond so we just hung up.

My grandma received a call from this number, my mom answered it claiming to be family on his way to visit. He called a second time saying he ran into some trouble and needed some money. My mom said she didn't have no and the call ended.

My husband got a call from this guy who didn't want to tell me his name...but kept asking for my husband, so I handed him the phone. He then said he was the son of my husbands cousin, and my husband asked which one, he kept avoided his questions, he said he was in Ca, and wanted to visit... he then called back and said he and his children were in an accident... needed money.. hubby told him to contact his insurance co. man got upset hung up, and when we called back... no answer and disconnects... THANK god, our family knows we aint got any money... this NUMBER is FRAUD!!! please be cautious 1-331-530-9891.. due to federal shut down... can not file complaint.

received a call from 331-530-9891 today called and told me the same story as everybody else saying they needed $700 pressuring for the money and needed the money transfered to Tijuana they knew and acted like one of my family member. Got mad when i asked several questions they made up excuses.

:  Just received a call from 331-530-9891 with the same story about a nephew wanting to visit, asked for my cell phone number.  Said he was in Austin, Tx & would be at my house shortly to visit.  After he made me guess which one of my nephew's, I asked him what his Mom's name was and he made excuses, like don't you trust me,  When I kept urging for his Mom's name,  over & over, he hung up.

Just received a call from 331-530-9891 with the same story about a nephew wanting to visit, asked for cell phone number and address, also about banks in our area, because wanted to cash some checks.

Calls claiming to be family, but he is just trying to get money out of you

FRAUD...this number called and was saying they were a nephew and they were coming to visit and they needed 800 dollars to buy a trailer and they had a whole lot of stories why..but we called our family who the person said he was and they said no it wasnt them so we found out it was fraud..thank god we didnt give any information out.. Please beware with these numbers it said Illinois Call on our caller id

Wish we had heard about this. Just forked over money to someone who sounded very much like my cousin. It isn't unusual though for family to call asking for money so we didn't question it at first, It started getting fishy though especially after 3 days of calling.

My grampa just got several calls from this number.... they were Asking  for $300 -$500 for a nephew that  just had an accident while driving over here....  His nephew had only $700 on him and the officer needed more $$ to let him go.... My aunt and uncle called and found out that his nephew was safe and sound at his house.... This is very scary for anybody and especially for an elder man!

My mother has also recieved phone calls from this number. Same story. Mexico, family, car accident, money. They knew quite a bit of info already. Also asked for cell number because they were coming to visit. Did anyone have a situation where they knew any of your other family members' names beside the person they were calling???

my mother recieved a call from this man, stating that he was a officer from Tijuana. Backing up the the caller before ( 331-394-8544 ) stating that he was a family member in need of help due to car accident in mexico. Also saying that he didnt want to lose his job.
Be aware of this contact number also, we of course would never fall for this but my mother did. She was taken for a large amount of money.

I just received a phone call from this number. the guy on the line said he was related to us and needed money because he was in Tijuana. After refusing to send money he got mad and once he was questioned why he was getting mad he hung up. We quickly called our family members in mexico and found out that they were okay. One of them mention they have recently been threaten by the Zetas in their community. they said they wanted money from them. I don't know if they are related, but  a word of advise, always question calls like like this, and never give out your information, no matter what.
