It's automated. They say if you want to know who it is you have to add them on Yahoo messenger, then claim their battery is down.
Report the Yahoo ID to Yahoo abuse and the phone number to Text Plus:
If you are receiving anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or harassed, please email abuse@textplus.com immediately with the textPlus number/username and your number (that is, the number receiving the inappropriate messages).
They get your info from Facebook, probably one of those apps. They can access your information if you allow the app.

This happened to me too. Called me by my name. Asked who they were. Said their "iPhone s" is going to die. told them to not text me cause I don't talk to strangers. Super weird though.

I think it is automated. They data mined Facebook or something to get your name and number. They probably want to hack your Yahoo account.

I also received a text from 13346498659 that said, "hi Melissa". When I asked who it was, they texted, "Do ya use yahoo messenger?!? cuz im me my id is txtgirl302". I responded, "No, and lose my name and number. What your doing is illegal and I will not hesitate to report you". Her response was, "Sorry !! Mi Iphone's about to die :(".

i got the same text askiing if i use yahoo im and to add txtiewoman58 when i responded with who are you i got the response of omg... my android is about to die so my suggestion is report them to whoever

Same reports as above. Texted me by first name at 8:45 p.m. CST. on 11/16/12. Wanted to me to add txtflirter66 to yahoo messenger. When I requested info on their identity, response was "Sorry my Android s gonna die.". I also said no phishing was permitted in my pond. No further contact.

I got a text message from this number by name too. Telling me to add textflirter06 to yahoo messenger. i told them i don't have yahoo.
