Debt Collector
Called my job and phone numerous times requesting to speak to my attorney. I told him not to call my job and continually threatened to do so. Changed his number and pretended that he was from my job firing me and I was a fraud and will presented with papers the next day. When asked who was I speaking with, hung up the phone. I don't like anyone threatening my job.

Pat them NOTHING! Your caller was just a scummy, smoke-blowing FRAUD! No one is going to show up at your door. We regulars here know these scams from the inside out. Your caller was nothing more than a bogus and/or fraudulent collector trying to use intimidation tactics in the hope that you'll hand over some money. Ignore him or block his calls.
Legitimate debt collectors are required to mail (NOT e-mail or fax.) you a notice of validation within 5 business days after initial contact with you. Legitimate collectors almost invariably mail you notices BEFORE phone calls are made. Needless to say, you will receive nothing from the clowns at this number. They are nothing!
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Debt Collector
I received same calls yesterday. They guy told me Good Luck at the end of the message. Have these people came to anyone's work or home? I know I did not take a loan out anywhere. So I am wondering if someone did take something out in my name. I have a new baby and can not have someone show up at my house Because my husband works a lot and we are home alone. Do I just pay this so they will leave me alone?

They called my phone 3 times in a row.  I did not answer and they left a voicemail.  Then they called my extension at work, I answered was told I needed to contact an attorney due to a fraudulent loan.  Then they tried to shake me down, told them I wasn't giving them anything and it was a scam, the Indian guy then responded that I'll see what kind of scam it is when I get arrested at my place of work tomorrow and then he hung up

I received the same phone call today and for many years I honestly thought my name was easy to say until today.  They stated that they were from some law firm ( could not understand her) and basically with the broken english stated that I had an outstanding debt that needed to be paid.  At that point I informed her that I had already contacted my bank and that they needed to remove me from their list.  she attempted to contact me two more times at which time I hung up and she hasn't contact me again today!  You are correct, they do utilize different numbers and different individuals but if you are unable to say a common name correctly then there is a problem right off the bat.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

My husband got a phone call today ay 3:15pm. He was told that he would be arrested and put in jail for 30 days and lose his job. They knew his name and his place of work. He told them no he didn't. When I heard this I put the call on speaker and said you have got to be kidding me and he said no I'm not. I asked him for his name and he gave me that it was Jason Dean. I asked where was I suppose to of taken a loan out from and he said from American Cash and I asked when did he do this he  said Feb of 2013. So I asked for a date and I was told that he couldn't give me that information and would receive it tomorrow when they come to arrest my husband.

Called my phone 5 times in 4 mins.  Left one message stating his name, which I couldn't understand (just like all the other calls that these people make), stated that I needed to call back now or have my attorney call and if they don't hear back then Good Luck to me!!  These people will changes #'s all the time with the same foreign speaking people and call repeatedly.  They will get to a point of threatening your family.  I had to get the police involved before and the calls stopped for about 2 months. Not sure why our government won't do anything to stop these people, I have tried by contacting the FBI and am told its a local police matter.  How can that be when the calls are coming from over my state line or another country???
