Telemarketer
I have had calls from these types of people before. They called me today around 4:30pm and asked for me by name. He told me that I had won a Grant to go to school and tried to tell me the correct answers to say when he transferred me to someone else. I hung up on him because I knew what was going on. These people try to get you to say certain things because they sell your surveys to colleges for money and you never win a grant. I have never fallen for what they have said when they call and now when they call I make fun of them and annoy them until they hang up. Every time I get a call from someone like this it always comes from a different number, but the calls always come from a northern state; today they called from New York. After they hang up on me because of me messing with them, I block the number.

Calls multiple times a week introducing himself as a representative of a Women's Health Branch of the US Government. You can't call the number back, I constantly ask him to remove me from their call list. Obviously that is futile after reading these posts. I have threatened many times.

I just received a call from a man who sounded Indian like all you are saying. Telling me that I am 1 of 4 people who are qualified for free money from the Us government bc I pay my taxes or pay my phone bill! All he had was my phone number and email so he said to me he has to confirm all my other info before he can send me the money so I played along just for the hell of it!!! When asked for my address I gave him a bogus one and he said "ok yes that is what I have here!" Then my birthday I gave him another bogus date and again he said " great that's what I have here!" So at the very end he wanted my debit card number and when I questioned him on that he said, "sir, you have my word! The money's will be transferred in 14 days!" That's when I went off on him told him I was going to the FBI with this recording and blah blah blah!! He suddenly started speaking a foreign language which sounded mid eastern and I hung up!!! I knew from the first few seconds of the call it was a scam so I figured Id just f*** with him and string him along until the end and it really pissed him off!!!

Received a call from this number and a man with a thick East Indian accent asked me if this was a business.  I told him yes.  He then proceeded to ask me what kind of business.  I told him.  He then asked a follow-up question and I asked him why he needed that information and he said it was for a government program.  I said I wasn't comfortable giving him that information.  He asked me why I wasn't comfortable and I told him that I just wasn't.  He then said, "So, f*** me?"  I said, "Excuse me?"  He said it again.  He then said, "Can I f*** you?"  I hung up on him.

This number has called me THREE TIMES today already :(  very annoying!!!  My daughter answered the phone and said that they were talking to her like they KNEW ME. Kind of unsettling if u ask me...she had to state quite firmly that she WAS NOT me...is there someone to report these types of callers to?

I received the same call today, from a guy he told me his name was Marshall. He had the same accent and offered me a grant as well for education. When I asked if I could use it towards my current education he hung up on me.

I received a call from this number on my office phone.  The caller had my name too.  I don't give this number out except to business people, high level executives at oil companies.  I am really curious how they came to possess my number and name.

I received a call from this number, a guy with a heavy Indian accent begins to talk but I can hear a bunch people in the background on phones, so probably a call center.  He says he is from the government grants department or something like that, and I cut him off saying I was busy and I hung up.

I use to get these type of calls all the time. Almost daily. All of this happened when I started looking for a job a few months ago and plastered my resume online. I suspected one certain website in particular. On Careerbuilder, it tells you how many people look at your resume. Every week I would see that between 12 to 20 people looked at it. I was like "Oh sweet only a matter of time before someone calls me for a job interview". Only thing was that nobody ever called saying they found me on careerbuilder. Only calls I got were from linked in and craigslist. I got suspicious and took my resume off careerbuilder. Ever since then the calls slowed down DRAMATICALLY. So my theory is these hacks go on websites where your email is public, such as careerbuilder and other sites.

Received multiple calls from this number. Finally answered and it was a man with a thick Indian accent saying that I was one of just a few people chosen to receive a government grant that would never have to be paid back. I asked him if he would like my social security number, bank account number including passwords and pin, and my credit card numbers. Oddly enough he hung up on me! Oh well - no free money for me today!

I have been getting constant calls from this number with no voicemails. finally i decided to answer and a guy with a heavy accent mispronounced my name more than usual and told me i had been selected for a government grant which i wouldnt have to pay back and it would be mailed to my home address in the form of a check all i had to do to recieve the money would be to answer four vital questions from another guy. i asked him if i could say no thank you and he hung up without saying anything else. these scams are so easy to spot i dont know how people still fall for them.

I have been getting phone calls from this # for the past two weeks. The caller, 347-263-8312, never leaves a message and calls several times a day. The calls start as early as 7:30am & this evening at 8:30pm. I looked up the number through Google and read lots of complaints...I have added this number to the "blocked list" so whomever is calling will no longer be a disturbance to my day.

Haha ... I had to laugh, and keep laughing when this guy called me. Pretty much same story as most of these... Indian, heavy accent, hard to understand. Told me he was calling about a grant. I told him I wasn't interested. He said this is not for education and I was going to get free money from the US government for my own personal use that I never had to pay back. I started laughing at him, I asked him if he even lived in the United States. He said he did. I said, if you do, then you know this government and are trying to tell me that they are going to give me money I never have to pay back?? He said yes mam! I am going to have you talk to my adviser and they are going to ask you qualifying questions and here is how you will answer these questions. He asked a few questions, all the while telling me how to answer them - what is your favorite subject, when did you graduate, how important is education to you. This money is not coming from the government but from the education department, so you will qualify and depending on how interested you sound will depend on how much money you get. He wanted to know what I would use it for. i said if it is personal then why would it matter what I use it for? He said they just want to know how interested I am ... I said well how much am I supposedly getting, because if i get $10 then i would buy a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk, how am I supposed to tell you what i would do with an unknown amount of money? He says well you must not be interested, I said of course I am interested in free money, but there is no such thing as free money - I am still just waiting for you to tell me what the catch is. He got back to his questions and asked me if I owned a computer. I told him no, he said you don't own a computer? I said no. He said is your email address ......@yahoo.com? I said I don't have an email address. I said how do I supposedly receive this money? he said it is sent to my address, he asks me is your address - rambles some address off from upstate NY, I laughed and said no, that is not my address. He said the adviser will ask you what your email address is, just give them the ......@yahoo.com email, they just need to send you a confirmation email and tell you how much you qualify for. (the same one I told him did not belong to me) .... I said to him, you want me to give them an email address that doesn't belong to me so they can send me information I will never receive? He said what about family or friends email address .... I said seriously, you want me to give them an email address that probably belongs to the person who lives at the address you gave me? I said him, I would never give out someones' email without their permission, he then tells me, "You are wasting your time" and hangs up on me! I tried to call this phone number back, but i get a recording that says "The number you dialed cannot be reached from your calling area"... I knew this was a scam from the get go - my hope in answering these calls is that they take my number out of their system. I am on the do not call list and so far my approach has worked pretty well. I barely ever receive calls from people like this. I just hope that no one thinks this is for real and is smart enough to not divulge any personal information to these scam artists - I am on a computer right now, which is indeed my own, but he has absolutely no need to know i I do own a computer, he also did in fact have my correct email address - but again he doesn't need to know that. The mailing address was not mine, but with the email address when he wanted me to use one I told him didn't belong to me! There were so many things wrong with this conversation right from start!!! I hope people are smart and don't fall for this.

I received a call from this number today around 1130am. I answered it because I was on break at work. Some guy with an Indian accident told me he worked for the finacial aid department world organization or something like that and that I, and 14 others have been choosen for a grant that I will never have to pay back. He keep directing me to different advisors and telling me what to say to them. I told them I was at work and didn't have time and to do a call back. I immediaey looked up the number on Google. It was really strange.
