thank you.  I was convinced it was a scam based on everything I read and the strange verification questions, but I could not figure out exactly what they were trying to gain.  After reading this, I checked my cable again and my Cinemax did turn on, so it was an actually offer from Comcast.  It was well over a week before it went active.  It appears these calls are from Comcast, but being conducted by a very suspect group they are using to conduct them.

They call me every day between 3pm and 9 pm and I never answer. (because I've seen on sites it is some bull comcast 'promotion').  I'm wondering if I answer and tell them to stop calling if that would even work....

This IS a legitimate Comcast offer, but is hampered by some horrible internal setup and communication of this offer.  It seems like it is being done by a crack (or maybe crack-smoking) squad of commando promotions people within Comcast, and the front line sales and support employees know very little about what is going on.  Below is my story and how it was resolved.

I got an initial call from this (347)329-3194 number and was offered a year of free no-obligation Showtime for being an HBO subscriber.  Sounded good, but alarm bells rang when they wanted to confirm my details after having called me.  I in turn called 1800COMCAST to ask if it was a legitimate deal, and the support rep looked into it and said that it was, but in her position she could not follow through on that offer.  She suggested contacting the (347) group back directly, which I tried a few times but never got through, so I forgot about it for a few days.

Five days later I got another call from that number (a woman this time), and at that point accepted the offer.  They stated some of my basic account info (last name if I recall) and asked me to confirm my mailing address, and also asked for an email address I believe.  Activation of the channel was to take about a day or so, but after a few days still no Showtime.

I then called back 1800COMCAST and was transferred through 6 different people, and it was obvious that none of them knew the facts about this offer internally.  After being disconnected, I finally called back and reached Tyler in support who checked with his manager and Sales managers, who were able to confirm the offer and find the internal documentation (codes or whatever they need to enter) on it.

My guess is that Comcast is doing these promotions because another round of fare increases just came out.  I got a letter in the mail with quite a few changes (read increases) to a variety of their offerings, so I think they're trying to counteract that with a round of promotions.  But their follow-through on the offer, internal communication, and issue resolution, plus the way in which the offer originates (with what is nearly a cold call) seems to be leading many people to believe it's a scam.

has called me EVERYDAY for the past 3 months sometimes multiple times a day. just called again at 5:06 pm when I answer they never respond so I only answer once in a while to see if they say who they are...  PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!

Someone calls me on my cellphone every evening, at least once or twice.  I have the "Contact" saved as an "Unknown Caller."  I do not answer and let it become a "missed call."  Is anyone else having this same problem?

This number has been calling me everyday at about the same time for the last week. Im not answering either. I'm going to contact my cell provider also about blocking this number.

Did you answer? I refuse to answer it ...I want to answer saying, "POlice Department How I Can I DIrect YOur Call".

They WILL NOT stop calling me. I refuse to answer. I notified my cell provider and told them to block this number or I am canceling. THis is ridiculous.

THis number called last night, and I was leary of it. I did not answer, but instead googled to see if anyone else was having problems. COMCAST SCAM.

Yeah. Same scam thing. Caller says she is from Comcast offering free Cinemax. First thing when I pick up I get a message saying the call will be monitored for blah, blah, blah. Usually, I only hear that message when I am the one doing the calling. Nervous woman's voice next asks for some account information. At that point, I realized it was a scam and hung up. Caller ID just says "New York"

Agree... said they were comcast, offering a year of cinemax.  Asked for my address, which is available publicly in any phonebook.  They had my name and phone number when they called and didn't ask for any additional personal information?  Thought it might be a scam, but wasn't sure what they were trying to get?  Cinemax obviously did not turn on.

This is a scam to get your personal information. They called an offered me free comast services, but when I called comcast to confirm, they denied that this number is a comcast line. It's a scam.

Same as PA, I received this phone call (once a month for several months) and finally answered, whereby the agent claimed to be offering a year of free Cinemax.  Turns out that I am not the account holder on my house's Comcast account, thus called 1-800-COMCAST and spoke to a real service rep, who said that the company does not reach out and offer free activation of premium services, etc.

Definitely a scam or some kind of phone phishing, would not answer if they buzz you.

Someone saying they were calling from Comcast called to sign me up for free Cinemax for a year. Yet when I called Comcast 800 number, there is no record of the call and they don't know the phone number.

mostly around lunchtime...

Late day calls every day for at least a week, sometimes more than one call a day. Never answered.

Keep getting calls from this number, nobody there when answer so I don't answer it.  Getting calls morning, afternoon and at night until 8:00  who is this and could you please stop it.

Call every day for 3 weeks. Usually in morning. Now morning & night the past few days. No answer when I pick up.
