Got the same exact call left on my voice mail today--ver batim, John Smith; the accent so thick I could barely discern he alleges he was from something-something New York, and that a lawsuit had been filed against me.  He assured me that if I called him back RIGHT AWAY he would do whatever he could for me, but that if I didn't I'm not sure what would happen, it didn't sound good, but again his accent was so thick I couldn't understand him.  Also in the message was something-something Social Security number, goo-goo gaa-gaa something something something......Good Lord, if you're going to try to pull of a scam, try not to sound like some amateur in his bomb shelter in Beirut or some other Godforsaken place.  I've save the message in my archives, and when the mood hits me I will share it with law enforcement.

Hi I recieved a call today and the man said he was a collector for "CASH ADVANCE" and I had got a loan in April 2011 and it was for 300$ and I needed to go to New York for court. and I googled it and found out was a scam. He said his name was Mark Williams but he had a foreign accent. tdhe number I called him was 3155192920.and he left hat number with my job and he had all my information. PLEASE DONT SEND MONEY ITS A SCAM.

WOW amazing!!! just got the same call as all of you today! from a "john smith" @ the same number. he had my address, social, and email address! i knew it was bogus though because i had never ever got a loan from cash advance. he kept calling me but i was at work then i got home and was able to talk him, i confronted him and was asking all these questions about when was the loan taking out and where. he couldnt give me a straight answer. even said the loan was from a student loan i took out in 2008. thats when i really got him cause i wasn't even in school in 2008. then he hung up on me.

I just received a from an Officer John Smith stating the very same thing. I owed money to a cash advance. I proceeded to tell him I have never had a cash advance. I asked him what was the amount and the exact name and address of the company I owe money to. He hung up. I called right back and he stated " he sorry we got disconnected". I stated that my accounts would be frozen and I am under investigation. I asked him to send me some info and he stated he could not. So, I hung up and decided to do my own investigation and ended up here. This is a very bad scam and I have advised my family and friends of this. I know I should not have legal actions for me in the amount of $389.00. Please EVERYONE BE CAREFUL!!!!!

I got a call from the same person today smh at what people try to do to get money. Instead he said I had a student loan right there I knew something was wrong because I haven't even attempt to apply for college yet smh

Same thing happened to me.  Exactly the same operation.  The amount was $300.00 + $.

06/23/11 A friend of mine got a call today, same modus operandi.

I called him back and told him in impolite terms what I would do to him if he ever called again

I got a call from am poorly accented man with the name Officer Jack Frost. I couldnt hear the rest of it from all the other accented people talking behind him. He has called my cell 6 times.

Funny thing is I am in Kuwait and using a vonage phone line I haven't been in the states for 7 years

I just got the call myself same BS and I found it funny because i can't remember any federal law enforcement officers being so polite.

yea he call to say i own money and that i have to resolve this matter or go to court so i say go court so that he shut up and hang up he wanted a statement to write i requested this amount of money and and sign it by me and fax it wit mt id card but i didnt so i say to him this is a fraud and and a scam. he just couldnt understand him

Same thing happened to me today. Told this guy he should have my FBI # and file and I would have my federal probation officer or the FBI contact him to take care of it.  His voice started shaking like he was going to cry and then wouldn't answer my questions.  Too bad for him he called the wrong person.

samething happen to me today, he stated that I had money wire to my back account and that I owed $239.00. I call back and said that I am going to call the cops and he became very aggressive over the phone and that he will see in court.

Just FYI he is still at it... just recieved the same phone call this morning.  When I told him he'd have to talk to my lawyer he hung up.  Imagine that...

message left was a man identifying himself as Officer John Smith and  stating he is from Lou Investigations contracted to do investigations with   the Federal Crime Department .   He was saying that my social security number  is on hold and that I am in serious legal trouble.   He said my residence is under investigation.    This  guy has a thick Iranian  sounding accent.

Man called left a message saying "I am from the crime investigation department in New York"  When I called back from cell phone he asked if he could call me back on my land line.  He did call me back and proceeded to tell me that I owed $400.00 to CashAdvance.  When I told him that the town I lived in didn't even have one of those stores nor had I ever used CashAdvance for anything and confronted him.  He hung up on me.  I called him back and he started saying he would take me off of his list and that he didn't have any money and needed help.

I got the same excact phone call yesterday

I received call from "Officer John Smith" gave me a case number and told me that a loan through CashAdvance had been turned over to them. Said that he did a check and that I had no criminal background and all this stuff. He had a very thick accent. About 2 or 3 years ago I did get money through them. But I believe it was paid off. Anyway he said I still owed $239. I told him I was at work. He said he understood, but to give him a couple of minutes. I told him to send me the stuff in the mail. He said he couldn't - so I hung up. He did call back twice and I sent it to voicemail. Obviously - no messages.
