I have had this person calling me too. and it's staticy and I can barely understand the person. It's freaking me out. Thanks for the info!

This is a SCAM.  if you do answer the line,  report the number to the local authorities and they can help.  They make it look legit but it is not.  One guy even had the nerve to route the call from my local police stations number.  Boy did he get a surprise when he called while they were at my house and the officer answered the line.  Just ignore and they eventually go away.

Pro tip!  Speaking properly, knowing our laws, and not sounding like an English-as-a-15th-language tier .05 help desk moron working for a tiny ISP might make your scam a bit more believable.

Folks, it's a scam... plain and simple.  Ignore them and they will eventually give up.  Do NOT call them back regardless as to how official or scary the message seems.

There are losers, scammers, bottom-feeders, and then these folks.  Don't give them the satisfaction of calling back.

I just received 3 calls in a row from this number, of which I didn't answer.  I never answer numbers I do not recognize.  Too many scams out there!!!!  He left 3 VM's to a person I've never heard of.  

Please, always let strange numbers go to voice mail then delete them.  Never ever call them back!  You will not get rid of them.

This man keeps harrassing me about a loan I do not owe.  He will not stop.  He asked for my attorney's name and number and after the 3rd time I gave it to him. He called back again and I told him I already provide him my attorney's number and to stop harrassing me.  He said for me to have attorney call him. I said no. I said he asked for the information and I provided it.  I owe no money so take it up with my lawyer.

I just got a call from these guys... you can barely understand them as the accent is so strong, and what IS discernible as English is broken and poorly constructed.

I think we're safe from these clowns.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Lawyers do not call cell phones or email you for matters of this sort; they send certified documents to your address.  Ignore them.  Do not call them back.  What they are doing is a crime.

Caller left me a message saying I owed money.  Everything I have is paid for.  I didnt call them back.  The voice sounded computer generated.  Not real.

I sure am glad you all posted. I just received a call from the nut and at first I was worried. He said I took out a loan from "easy advance cash". He said he was from Gerber Legal Services. He had my E-mail address but didn't say anything about my home address.

The person who called me said he was from a  debt collector. He had an Indian accent and he didn't sound legitimate. He told me I owe him $760 and if I did't give it to him he would have me arrested. He then told me my address and he will be at my home later on to do so. I hung up on him. I called back the number and he told me the same thing. How do I report this person?

The guy is a semi-retarded scammer... ignore the call.

Guy called said I was being sued for some loan that I never took. When I asked for information he hung up.
