Just received a call. Same talk. I answered and he asked if I could hear him. I said yes and he proceeded to ask if I had heard of or supported projects with the Bluegrass Pipeline at which time I hung up. They must have lost their deal with warp.

Most cordless Panasonic phones have a built-in call block for up to 30 numbers. I bought one.
I also have AT&T for land line service, and it allow you to block up to 10 numbers.
AT&T also features Anonymous Call Rejection, which blocks calls from anyone who conceals their number or identity, such as PRIVATE CALLER.
Those are some good options to block telemarketers and scammers, without having to buy a separate call blocking device.

Obviously a robo caller because it was blocked by Nomorobo. I've been using Nomorobo since its inception. Nomorobo is now catching almost 100% of those calls that used to get through to my phone. Bless the inventor. Great free product!

After numerous calls without answering, I picked up on a call when I was bored. Eventually he says "Hello? Can you hear me?". I said "No". Silence. then "Hello? Can you hear me?" I said "No". He started talking crap about survey. I looked over at Sweetie and talked over him. "I wish I could hear what they are saying. Must be a really important call. Calls all the time." He stopped his spiel and says, "Sir? Can you hear me?" a little testy and I said "No". He hung up.

calls at around 8:45pm.This was the 4th.time tonight.12/20/13

Why are you calling me. My phone is on the DO NOT CALL LIST. Please follow orders or we will file a complaint.
Frustrated 2013-12-20 13:48:05 Unknown
I now think that these scammers are using the DNC list to acquire numbers to call. I have had my land line on the list for years and constantly receive these robo calls. I recently renewed my registration and added my cell phone. I have never had a robo call on my cell until I registered it on the DNC list. I am now receiving robo calls on my cell phone. Figure it.

I've gotten two calls today. Didn't answer. I have a $50 phone that will block calls. I'll block them now. I honestly think that these people have a phone number sharing network, because since I started blocking calls, they are less frequent..
DrD 2013-12-18 23:46:03 Unknown
Unavailable is caller ID so we will not answer. That and other unavailable numbers call at different, often inconvenient times, which can be quite disruptive.

Reported to AARP today. They do not believe it is their survey, and if it were theirs, they would not ask for any personal information.
This is a scam
Do not give any personal information over the telephone.

347-502-2530. Caller ID: New York. No one there.
PS 2013-12-14 21:16:04 Unknown
I get calls from Washington D.C. and New York. They usually hang up or leave a message saying can you hear me? I have no idea why they call or what they get out of it other than to annoy people.
miss D 2013-12-13 19:41:59 Unknown
caller said his name Zack than can you hear me than laugh and than hung up.
Julia 2013-12-12 21:50:14 Unknown
Got call , caller ID said New York. # 347 - 502 2530. When I answered, it was silent on other end. I am on the do not call list, but still receive calls like this. How can these vultures be stopped from calling? I called back with a pre paid card so they would not know what # I am dialing from and got a message to dial one for a do not call back to this #. I pressed one and got the message, that they would not call back and that's as far as I could go. It is some kind of scam, because I used the pre paid card and it does not give them the number I called back from, so how could they take my number off? I wish I could find out who they are. they would get a call from me and it would not be silent on my end of the phone. .

Telemarketing scams are EVERYWHERE!
Never give out personal information over the phone. Not name, not address, especially not financial information a d social security numbers.
Callers can say they can be anyone. I'm 34 and not even close to being an AARP member. The elderly are the most targeted because they are the most vulnerable and less likely to realize and report.
Be smart folks. Never ever give out personal information over the phone. It is a pain in the butt to get your identity back (it is a nightmare) and your financials back in order.
Warn others and beware.

Save your time and effort, just call back and press 1. The automated do not call request service is effective.

347-502-2530. I got the call a few minutes ago. The conversation started this way, can you hear me, can you hear me. Then he said he was from AARP. I told him I don't have AARP just my Mother. He than proceeded to ask if he could have my mailing address to get information for her for the up coming changes in AARP. I told him that if she has AARP then she would of already got the information. But he kept on asking for my mailing address. I told him that I would have to ask my mother if she received a letter from AARP telling her about the changes. He said ok well in the meantime can we get your address to send the info for her, I said NO I have to talk to her. He said well we might not be able to call back. "Duh" he isn't calling back because I felt it was a scam. Also this number came on my phone as a cell phone number. Who calls from a company on a cell phone to talk to clients. Scam scam scam that's all I can say. It just didn't feel right talking to him.

Call from347-502-2530 at 519 PM today. Caller ID said NEW YORK. I let answering machine take it. A recorded female voice said, "please stay on the line for an important message. A live representative will be with you in less than 30 seconds. ". Then the line went dead.
I have AT&T and I am turning on my Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR). It's free and all I have to do is get a dial tone and hit *77. It can be canceled by hitting *87. ACR blocks all calls where the caller conceals their name or phone number, such as private caller or unknown name. It won't block them all but it will stop a lot of them.

You said "The DNC is not a department of the government. "
Actually, the DNC *IS* a department of the government. I discovered that when, during the government "shutdown", all of a sudden, I was getting more telemarketer calls than usual, and I went to that website to see if my phone # "dropped off" their list.
There was a notice on their website that due to the goverrnment shutdown, the DNC site was disabled, as they are a government agency. www.donotcall.gov

Keep taking the medication and keep the therapy appointments, they will work eventually.
Unless they are taped and sold to the Russians or was that Koreans?

Really? I find it VERY ironic that the very thing you claim (quoting massive figures of calls made, etc) is not possible..... Yet isn't that precisely what the NSA HAS BEEN DOING????? And the very reason they are building the data center in Utah? Think about that.... What you claim can not be done, HAS BEEN DONE. And more.
Start demanding the NSA - NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY start ENFORCING (their job) the protections of the people of the United States as already established by law. As phones are now mostly (including cells) VOIP - That makes the harassment calls and especially the 'scam' calls originating from other countries subject to the ELECTRONIC TERRORISM protections.
If they're going to spend all that time spying on your calls -- make them tender the full trace records of every call connected with your number. Then demand they do their job and go after the terrorists attacking you. (They already claim they've gone after and protected US from so many terrorists already -- none of which they can name. Perhaps this would be something they'd look forward to do -- as these terrorists they COULD NAME OPENLY.)
Then again, why should they waste time protecting the people that fund their paycheck????
