Got the same call yesterday,same program. I was given a authorization code and told to call Kenny Loton, a very American sounding name. He answered with a very thick accent and, as the original caller also had a very thick accent (I could barley get the code, number and name from her), I was extremely concerned about this entire offer. I had selected payment by Visa card. Rather than mailing me a Visa card preloaded with my $7,000 Mr. Loton wanted me to give him my Visa card number. I instantly informed him this was a SCAM and hung up on his butt.

Anytime, anybody wants to give you money,but requires a fee upfront...IT IS A SCAM!!!

I called number,they said they were calling from the treasury department in Wash.,D.C. I asked "how's the weather in Washington D.C. today" and they hung up, ha,ha. Another scam gone bad.

Got a call today from 347-682-3701. Very thick accented male represented that he is from the U.S. Department of Finance and I have been chosen to receive $5000 grant. Well, my lucky day! I thought that this pitch might be fun, so I played along. He said that I had paid my taxes and not filled bankruptcy and was one of 1700 people to get this "totally free money". He had my name and address from public records but that was it. I was suppose to call some number he wold give me to talk to his supervisor to claim my grant.

This is where I exploded on him. I called him a thug, a thief and a liar. I asked how he could sleep at night? I chided him for waking this morning knowing he was going to steal from people today! What a loser. I asked him to name the branch of government that he worked in. I asked him to name the agency that the "Department of Finance" reported under. What act of Congress authorized him to give 1700 people $5000? All he did was argue and state emphatically that he was legit! He then hung up on me and immediately called me back!

He then stated that he was with the government. I challenged him to prove it and accused him of perpetrating a fraud and felony. He told me that I was wasting his time and mine. Who cares. He hung up and I put is number on my call block list. What a jerk! Me, I had fun! At least the ten minutes I spent with him kept him from calling someone else.

I just missed a call from this number on my business cell. I tried to call back but got no answer. I was googling the area code n saw the link for this page with all of your responses... Is sad we live n a world where people try to make a $1 either taking advantage of unwilling participants or piss'n the rest of us off SMH

Wow, you must be really good at languages if you can discern between the thousands of possible accents of English in the world. And you also aren't afraid -based on your assumption- to use a racial slur in a public forum against someone who is actual doing something wrong because of what they're doing, not who their ancestors are.

I'm curious as a student of dialectology - what is a "middle eastern accent"? What phonetic/phonological features are shared by the Middle Eastern languages? I'd really appreciate a reply because otherwise I'll have to assume that you, a huge ignorant probably ugly and fat c***, actually said that out of stupidity.

Got a call from them today............government grant scam!

Call came in yesterday (Oct 1) and displayed the name "Kenneth Jones" -- no one I know!  No one said anything wo I hung up and decided to add it to my blocked call list and look it up here.  Glad I did.  It really is incredible how these people can get an actual phone number to conduct these scams when you almost need an attorney to conduct other personal business these days.  Oughta be a law . . .

He said he was from the Federal Government Grants Department and that out of 700 people I had been chosen to receive a $7,000 grant. I asked why, he replied that since i have been paying my taxes and had not filed for bankruptcy. # I- I have not filed taxes in over 5 years.(I am retired). #2- I filed bankruptcy in 2005...  I knew from the git-go THIS IS A SCAM. I played along. The man then told me all I had to do was pay a $190.00 processing fee, which of coarse was fully refundable (HA HA) I said OK what do I do. He said we can take the fee out of you bank account, a credit card or Western Union. I choose Western Union but said I did not know where there was a one, he even looked up a location and gave me one to go to. Then he gave me a Grant ID # and told me to call Keith Miller at 202-470-6879, so I called. Surprise surprise! Keith Miller also has a very THICK middle eastern or like accent at this time I was tired of playing there games. During the entire call I was on the internet and saw notices that THIS IS A SCAM even though I already knew. So I asked Keith Miller How do you sleep at night? He just kept talking on script. I asked again.BLAH BLAH BLAH then he transferred me to his supervisor Patricia Taylor  Guess what THICK middle eastern or like accent..I gave Patricia Taylor a mouthful.   Sorry for the long reply everybody.. If you do answer GIVE THE HELL

I've gotten multiple calls even though I asked to be put on the do no call list. Annoying!

I sent an email to Mayor Bloomberg.  Why don't we all send one in?  Maybe someone in his office will listen.  311 did nothing to help, except suggest I file a police report.

I just received a Phone call from this mystery man "Kenneth Jones". When I answered all I heard was noise but no reply. This is a waste of time. I can't understand how anyone got my phone number as it is not only private but a VOIP phone so you can't just look it up.

Been getting a bunch of calls from this number stating that they re some kind of government agency and that i have embezzled money and that I can settle it out of court or in court.  Same thick middle eastern accent, supposed to be some kind of law enforcement.  Same background noise and distorted connection that everyone else is getting.  Called several times.   Even called my job.

We should be able to have numbers never allowed to call us again if we want. All the tools we have online for our accounts  we ought to be able to not let any numbers not to call us....The telephone companies are leeting people get over on their customers without our knowledge.

I get called from this number and twice now I never answered since I do not answer calls I do not know. They never leaqve a message and when I call back it says that it is not a working number. This is bs. The telephone companies are letting our numbers go out to others without our permission. We ought to be able to opt out from allowing anyone to call our numbers.

they keep calling my cell my work they wont stop harrasing me.  I told them I called the FBI he told me to suck his c***  He told me no one will ever catch me.  They are calling my job 4-5 times a day... They change phone numbers and it is the same accented man.  American Law Firm  Harrison Law Firm It is ridicoulous  I am at this point ready to change my phone number and my work place is going to tell them I have been fired.... They need to get a life and or just hang themselves

Got a call from this number about an hour ago. I didn't answer it since i don't know anyone in New York. They didn't leave a message.

Didnt recognize the name KENNETH JONES so I didn't answer the call, and no message was left. Though by the looks of everyone else's messages, I'm glad I didn't answer! Thanks for all the posts about "Mr. Jones!"

extreme rudeness, multiple calls

Got a call from a thick accented male saying I was chosen by the US government to receive a $5000 grant. I informed the man that I did not apply for a grant..that grants had to be applied for.  He again tried to convince me that the money was free to me never having to be paid back...I told him that was too good to be true so he hung up.  This is the 6th call from different private numbers but this call came from Kenneth Jones  347-682-3701   Poor Kenneth probably doesn't know someone is using his number this way!

Wife just got call on cell from this number, heavy accent, he sounded to be masturbating, what a sick sob.  he knew her name too

Received a call today - didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail.  30 seconds of background noise, no real message.

I have been getting calls from this number for about 2 weeks. Today a man with a middle eastern accent called and I told him he had the wrong number. He then proceeded to call me 6 times in 2 minutes. Considering this is harassment, I finally called the number back to explain that if he kept calling I was going to call the police and report it as harassment. However, a female answered the phone and said that she had no idea who has been calling me. She said she worked for a computer company who specializes in computer based phone calls (for the deaf). I hung up angry, but since then the a**hole sand rat has not called back. If he does, he'll be dealing with my husband. : )
