Got a text message using the name Kathleen Hoffman and asking me to send her an email to kathyhoffman16@outlook  for more details. She wanted to buy MK products.
Yes, several folks have tried to scam MK consultants.  I see these texts from other numbers and ignore them but tell my director about them to warn other consultants.  Could be an identity scam.  Don't trust them.

They have now started using Leslie Bibb as name.  She is a famous model and actress but they still use the same number.  Please see text below, then my response.

"morning to you, hope you had a great night,I'm Leslie Bibb, I would like to order some May Kay products, I'd really appreciate it if you could please email me at  lessyliebibb13@yahoo.com  for more details.
Thank you."
My Response
Thank you so much for your interest I see that you already have my contact information and I will assume you have my website.  Due to the large number of attempts to scam Mary Kay reps I now ask that new customers I've never met who would like me to send them products to please place yoir order to do on my website using a credit or debit card and I will ship it to you.   I look forward to your order.

Makeup artists on movie/modeling shoots usually use high end makeup like MAC or professional brands like Ben Nye and Mehron.  And they always take a good supply.  They never contact a Mary Kay or Avon rep at random.

Same exact thing just happened to me. Thank goodness I had heard about a scam like this before so I was cautious in my response. Mine started with a text message from 352-577-9405 saying it was Stacy Perkins wanting to order & asking me to email her at staccyperkins@yahoo.com. I did & she replied with the exact same email message reported above by numerous people about her being a makeup artist on a movie set coming to my town blah, blah, blah, with a list of items needed. I replied to say I'll be happy to help but have heard about people getting scammed like this & asked her how she got my name & phone #. I also asked her what movie she's working on because a movie has never been shot in my town before. We'll see if she answers.

I just got a text from Stacy Perkins, same phone number, email staccyperk16@yahoo.com. I don't know anyone by that name so I decided to look this person up on facebook (the 2014 version of yellow pages!) and found this thread instead. GRRR... I'm so frustrated! I won't even accept checks unless I personally know the customer. We will see what response I get back.

This are straight "Nigerian" scams that are sent by email as well as text.  They are now targeting Avon and Mary Kay reps, as well as photographers.    They don't know you personally per se, and send a mass email or text to hundreds of reps.  They play a numbers game just trying to hook one or two targets.

The way to respond is to simply ignore them and spread the word to fellow reps raising awareness of this scam

(This answer is based on 7+ years of experience in dealing with e-mail scammers as a "scambaiter".  I am currently a moderator at an anti-scam site as well)

How did you respond is the real question. As long as you did not send any products, or try to cash any "payments" you should be ok.

Mine said her name was Stacy Perkins and is w/M&G Modeling&Promotions out of Tampa, Fl and they will be in Wilmington, DE for a shoot the 1st week of December. She wants my full mailing address to send me payment. Why try to steal from hardworking people. I experienced death in my family. I wonder if that is how they choose to target people. Jerks.

I got this text message today:

Good morning Tiffany, I'm Amy Hawks, I would like to order some May Kay products, I'd really appreciate it if you could please email me at hawkeyamies16@nnamoney1.com for more details. Thank you.

I have read other reports about this person with the exact same email and a similar phone number. They are trying to scam Mary Kay and Avon independent sales people. Don't fall for it!

I wish there was a better way to report these kinds of people so that the police can track them down and make them stop.
