Well I am sure you are proud of yourself for knowing it isn't  manned late at night Debb. No telemarketing or fundraising company has lines maned after 9 pm their time. But I am more then sure you are smart enough to know that..

No it is not fraud. for it to be fraud no monies would go to the charity at all. So yes it is legal for one two you dont want the calls  get and unlisted unpublished number and three for the love of God grow up.

Most people in telemarketing make a very good living and follow very strict federal laws. Just because you women got bothered doesn't make your statements true, nor does comcast sell your information

its not amvets. i have friends that  work for them what they simply do it get a sheet called a call sheet which these people have donated before to amvets. they simply say hi ------ this is ---- with amvets just calling to see if you had any donations to put out for us on ----- day by ----- A.M . they either reply with yes or no. amvets gets donations but not money donations. so if these people are calling saying they are amvets . they might be and if they are you can call amvets and tell them that they are asking you for money.

Committing fraud should not be confused with doing a "job". Maybe you should learn to spell, too, too otherwise you're going to have to make a living lying on the phone and on the internet for the rest of your life or until you go to jail (whichever comes first).

I just got a phone call from these people, and as soon as I asked how they got my phone number they hung up.  We've only had this number for about a week, the only people that have it are family and close friends.  As soon as they  hung up on me I googled it to find multiple postings about this number.  Seeing that the others were comcast customers as well, I called comcast.  They assured me that they do not hand out numbers and put our number on the do not call list.   This is really irritating that they say they don't give out numbers, but it seems to be all the same people(comcast customers) who are having these complaints.  I guess if this continues, we will cancel service.

This number kept calling, so I finally answered just to tell them to cut it out. After I answered, a recording said that they were experiencing a high number of calls, so they put me on hold! After a few more seconds, Then I heard nothing but silence.

I got a call from this number on my Virgin Mobile cell phone. My number is very new, and no one except friends have it--plus Google via the Android system. I've got a few apps that could theoretically grab the number and do something with it, but all seem to be respectable apps.

(2-10-11) Been receiving this call about every 2 weeks now. Have not answered call and caller leaves no voicemail. My understanding from all the informative posts on here, this caller is Soliciting on behalf of AMVET. This means any donation offered will be skimmed off the top by this Solicitor before it gets to the AmVet Organization. I suggest if you want to make a donation, go directly to the AmVets.org website, find the donation hyperlink, and email them to first see if they will receive the full donated amount. I found this email link: vwortz@amvets.org. You could probably get this "Third Party" Solicitor to stop calling your number by asking vworts@amvet.org.  At the same time, a friendly gesture of $1 to $5 would mostly likely confirm this request to be removed from all call lists administered by AMVET: Third Party, Supporters, Contractors, or otherwise. Never the less, they are suppose to honor your request no matter if you donate or not. Accordingly, you can ask your Service Provider (Like comcast, qwest, ect.) to stop giving or selling your "Personal Private Information" to Parties outside their Company(ies). This is called 'Opt Out'.  Most will respect your request in apprehension that you might go with another Service Provider.  When opening up new accounts with Service Providers, always ask to be "Opted Out" of transferring any personal information to Third Parties. Hope this helps!

We joined centurylink. At the start of the month. We havent given our number to anyone but family and friends. Now we get calls from all sorts of 800 numbers. This being one of them! It comes up as AMVETS.
So I guess comcast and centurylink have been selling the numbers! Outrageous! if i didnt need internet for school i would tell them where they can stick it! We dont even answer out phones anymore. I paid extra to get caller ID so i wouldnt have to talk to these people. I just added our phone to the do not call registry. Hope it helps. If not I guess we just have to wait for the phone to stop ringing.

After researching for about 30 seconds, it is very clear that anyone and everyone that has gotten the Comcast bundle, is getting these phone calls from AMvets and Seattle Times.GOOD JOB COMCAST, DP the service with a flock of harassment calls from multiple different companies!

What an eye opener- bundled with comcast a month ago so I could work from home I have had absolutely horrible service- my phone and internet have been down a total of 4 days with no explaination or apology-My phone has been ringing off the hook with this number and others- it is obvious someone sold my info.  Thanks Comast you promised me a bundle for $99.00 and billed me $260.00 on my first bill then profit from it!

I believe Comcast is selling our numbers. As I mentioned before I never gave out my number the first few months. I received many calls from Amvet, Seattle Times, and other businesses I have not answered or done research on their numbers. I finally answered Seattle Times and hung up very quickly. A week later they called and  I picked up. They asked to speak to my mom or dad!!!!! I told them excuse me? I am old enough to be married go to college and have a kid I am not interested! and he politely apologized. And Thank Goodness I have not had a another call from them. He did seem pretty embrassed and I am thinking about embrassing any other company that calls. I also had some Comcast rep. try and Sell me the bundle??? and I ALREADY had it!? Comcast needs to pay more attention to their customers. The only reason I am with them is because no other place can provide service since the location of our apartment. Or they are too pricey.

Your post is so helpful! I got the phone TV and internet bundle because it was cheaper and just like some other people NO ONE had this number and AMvet is the first to call me on it before I even handed the number out to anyone. I'm glad I have done research and found your post before even considering answering this number. I have NEVER answered their calls and it has been 8 months later and I am still receiving their calls.

Recieved many calls from 360-230-1607, and I happend to be home tonight and answered.  A guy calling me by first name told me he represented Amvets and blah blah how its so important to support them for what they do.  First of all I do not donate money over the phone.  I asked if he was directly from Amvets and he said he was from a company that handles their donations.  When I asked how much of my donation would go the Amvets he told me almost all of it.  I hung up because I knew that was NOT TRUE.  The guy is from a company called DCS and they keep 90% of the money.  They are do not call exempt because they are representing a non-profit.  Personally I think Amvets should put an end to these for profit companies that keep your hard earned money and dole a little bit out to a charity.

They claim to be AMVETS. They are not, they are harassing scammers for money who will continue to call you. PLEASE go to this address and file a complaint.
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

If you tell them you are on a do not call registery they do not care, they continue.
If you tell them you can't donate they do not care, they continue.
If you tell them to STOP calling they hang up on you and call again later that day or the next day.

Please help to stop these crooks who are stealing people's money and harassing people in their own homes. I have been going through this mess for a month.

Also...  I gave NO ONE that number. Not one person. The only way anyone could know that is my number is if they worked for Comcast (my phone company). The people who call ask me by my name. Therefore Comcast is selling our information to these scammers.

Thank you Comcast for making money off of harassing me. Please anyone else... list your phone company too.
