Or next time you call you can tell them you want them to take you off their calling list. By law telemarketers have to after being told this. If they don't then you may warn them that you have already told them to take you off their list and if the calls persist then you will be talking to your lawyer about this incident. I happen to have a company cell phone and this has worked on the first time except for once. I told them this is a company number and we do have a lawyer on staff and they will be talking to him next time they call. Crazy thing happened, they were extremely apologetic and removed me from their list...never heard from them again.

They won't stop. But you can keep them from interrupting you. You have 2 choices.
1) Contact your cell provider. See if they can block the number.
or
2) Put them in your contacts list. Assign them the ring tone "no ring". That won't stop the calls but it will make them easy to ignore.

I have been receiving a recorded message to "lower my interest rates" and I contacted an operator to get off their calling list. He gave me this number (401-285-0700) and it was a recording saying how long they could keep an idiot on the phone.

I also recieved a message from a friend saying, "Hey omg my phone is about to die and i need to tell you something please call me right now... 401-285-0070 its important."
I didn't call the number, rather googled it here to find out what kind of hoax it was, and I found this post here.

It's apparently a joke forwarded through text by your friend. When you call the number, there's a recording of guy with a heavy accent saying that your friendship with said person has been outsourced. Kinda lame...
