Caller (Robert Wilson) left message stating he was with the Federal Trade Commission and that a very serious allegation had been filed against my social, blah blah blah.  It is a scam group out of India to get you to pay for something you don't owe.  They use different numbers to call you and will say they are with all sorts of firms and that you owe money.  Have fun with these guys who call.  They don't understand most english but they do some so if they are going to waste your time then you might as well have fun and get a good laugh. Use BIG english words and talk fast, they will get mad and cuss you after a bit.

Yep, same thing has been happening to me, it has been downright harassment, thanks to everyone who relayed their experiences now I will have a field day with this guy next time he calls!!!

Got a call from Robert Wilson a few days ago at my work number.  Called him back.  Identified myself and asked him who he worked for he informed me it was the Federal Trade Comission.  He then spoke to someone else in the room not in english.  In the background other conversations were occurring.  When I informed him I was an  attorney and worked for the federal governement he hung up.  Called him back and asked him for his address so I could subpoena my file from them since I am unaware of anything the FTC would be doing concerning me, he informed me that he could not give out the address.  
I asked him what was the nex step in his protocol, again he spoke to someone else in the room, again not in english.  Again he hung up.   (I would say"Mr. Robert Wilson" was Indian but that presumption would be based on the accent and the fragements I could catch)

I have also just recieved a call from a robert wilson a few minutes ago and tried to google the number he had a real heavy accent. scared me at first but now I know.

i am also getting these phone. both on my work number and cell. i told him it was ia scam, he said he would have me arrested . i told him to go ahead i could you some time off..

It came up as an unknown #, The ind. name was robert wilson. unkown what he wanted.

I have been receiving threatening calls, supposedly from this same Robert Wilson, a male with an extremely heavy indian accent. He states that if I don't return his call within 24 hours, dire things will happen to me. This has been ongoing for weeks, and always the exact same message. Can they be stopped at all?

I had the exact same thing, they left a message I couldn't understand hardly what they were saying b/c of their acscent being so heavy stating they are Robert Wilson and if they don't hear from me or my attorney within 24 hours I am big trouble and I don't this matter to unfold into something terrible.... I reported the number and had it blocked from my phone... It's like you are being threatened if you don't call them back to arrange payment I have no idea what they are talking about and I can account for all my bills and owings and I owe them nothing!

I have been called by this number numerous times in the last few days.He has left me the same messages as stated above and even called my job harassing them which I almost lost my job over. I have no idea who this guy is and already can't take it. He calls me numerous times every single day! How do I legally get this reported and dealt with? If he knows where I work and my job phone number what other information could he have? I feel violated and completely threatened.

I just got a call from this number also.  He said his name was Robert Wilson, but he had a very heavy Indian accent.  He called my cell at first and since I didn't recognize the number I didn't answer.  He then called my work phone.  When I answered he said there was a legal matter in my name that needed to be handled immediately.  I told him to not call my work number.  He gave me his number and said I need to call back immediately.  I will call him back and let him know that I'm aware of the scam and that I'm reporting him.

THIS GUY IS CALLING ME EVERYDAY WANTING MONEY SAYING HE IS AN OFFICER FROM SOME COMPANY. THAT IM IN SERIOUS TROUBLE CALLING ME AT WORK ALSO.

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself.

The calls are not originating from within the US. The criminals are utilizing VOIP and spoofing numbers to make it appear otherwise. They probably got your personal identifying information from a website you visited in the past.

I got a call from this number stating that it was urgent for me to call back right away. That there were some very serious allegations against my name. But when I rerun the call our of curiosity there is a message asking you to leave your name and telephone number. They also want you to tell them which officer you calling from. The most interesting part of it all is I live in the virgin islands and have been for the past 40 years and this company is located in Rhode island. I'm not even sure how they're got my name and telephone.

Got another call this am and they left a message saying I need to respond right away.
