You guys really have no clue. You want to throw the FDCPA out there yet you are wrong.  First no they can't tell you what company they are with even in employment verification because doing so automatically discloses that the person has a debt. It's not a scam. They are on the up and up. The 505-6156 phone number is a 402 area code I found out. The things to slow them down. Ordering an itemized statement only stops it g of a short period of time. The attorney thing are you kidding unless your attorney is hired for purposes that relate to the debt then it has no bearing on what you are talking about. How about if you have problems with this Ed guy you ask to talk to his supervisor? No they dont just handle medical debt. I've even heard that they dont report to your credit which I've checked and they dont. Here's the simple fact if you just block them from ever contacting you or you never work something out with them then you will probably get garnished. But seriously you really need to check the laws you are quoting and its entirety before opening your mouth. By the way I am a former Debt Collector so yes I do in fact know what I am talking about.

Ed Rother just called me today asking for my wife. I asked him what he wanted from her and he said that he wanted to talk to her about a letter he sent her. I asked what it was about and he said it was about some personal stuff. He wouldn't explain further. He also said that she gave him my number. It seemed very weird and unprofessional. He asked me to have her call him back. I said yes, but I won't have her do it. It sounded like a scam to me.

I haven't found a phone number or address for Ed Rothar yet.

I have recieved calls from this number several times. He is looking for Cheryl Dwyer. (A completely different number called twice looking for Tim Dwyer, was told it was a wrong number and stopped calling) He left a message with impossible & convoluted logic. He did say if it wasn't Cheryl Dwyer to call 505-6156 (no area code).


The next time I get a call from this number I will ask them to remove my number from their database. If they refuse or become difficult I will explain I am on my way to 714 Tara Plaza to personally handle this issue.

i got a call from ed rothar too.  if being harassed here are some tips;
1.tell him your call is going to be recorded (he will say that is not authorized and he doesn't give you permission..then you reply with in the state of Nebraska you don't need permission to record)
2.tell him to send you an itemized letter with what you owe before you further your discussion
3.tell him you spoke with an attorney and will get back to him.

I also discovered that he isn't abiding by the law so please if you have a conversation with any debt collector you write down as much information as you can about the conversation you had

he is a scammer  makes these bills up and you dont owe s***...  Watch out

Then he shouldn't be paying them if he doesn't know what it is for.

It is a debt collection agency, ACS. The number is to Ed Rothar. Did anyone find out if this company is just for medical bills? Or do they do more than that? My fiance has been dealing with them for a while now paying off a debt, but he said it wasn't medical.

"Ed" called and left me a message also, he did not tell me the name of the company he represented or what it was in regards to. You think this would be a part of their policy.

No message just hangup.

Guy named "Ed Rothar" left message on my work voice mail to verify employment on an employee, and gave me a reference number to give when I called back.  (He hacked and coughed horribly throughout the message-- very gross!) When I called back he didn't give a company name so I asked.  He rudely said, "It's not important," and then loudly said, "Who's calling"?  I hung up.  He called back and left another message saying there was confusion when I called him earlier and he is following privacy laws by not telling me anything more.  Well, I am going to follow the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and call him back to let him know he is prohibited from calling us again.

I keep getting calls from this number as well. I usually don't answer it. They keep asking me for an "Autumn Fox". They've left messages for her and whatnot and in the message the guy says at one point "If this is not Autumn Fox, please disregard this message." I HAVE disregarded the message. So he cals this morning and he's like "well I haven't been told that there ISNT an Autumn Fox there." I'm like You have said in your messages if this isn't her, then don't respond..Have I responded? UH NO. He's like well I know she's there. I'm like NO she isn't. and hung up. This guy is seriously freakin annoying.

Sparky is correct, just got a call from them for my wife's bills that I had no idea about.  From what I can gather from the gentleman on the other end they are a collection agency for medical bills.

Accredited Collection Services (ACS) this # came up on my caller id with the name underneath it.  I know they collect for medical bills, not sure if they collect for other things too.

Don't know who this is, I am on the do not call list however. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer! The phone calls are getting annoying though!
