I got a call from them and thought it was for a good cause. They came out and picked up my electronics and told me that it was to be donated or recycled. When I went down to see there operation I was horrified! What a scam. everyone donates to them thinking they are doing good and the truth is far from it. Dirty warehouse off the main road and kind of hidden, front door its a retail space and there I seen my laptop for sale! no donations just sales. a sign out front charging for electronics for recycling and trailers in the docks. I wish someone would investigate the owner and such as he was driving an escalade and was a complete a** to me. I don't buy the story or what they are selling. This place stinks and the next time I have electronics I will just call 311 to find out what I can do with them.

I got a phone call from 403 262 4488

turns out its www.era.ca ( Calgary Computer Recycling Organization? )

I pressed 1, and some girl answered the phone. I asked her where I can take a TV and old laptop. She gave me the address. At that place I saw a lot of cheap laptops , and according to their website they give them away too. I got my cousin to test them, called them, and they gave him a job testing monitors for a laptop for a day. He got one better than what i dropped off... AWESOME

Era are a great community focused organisation, they sell some computers to community groups and  have helped hundreds of charities and community groups with free computers and facilitate donations of computers on behalf of companies in Calgary in Canada - computers that would otherwise be dumped.
I can't believe that there are people that would rather dump their computer then give it another life. what have you done to make this world a better place today ???

The "operate" as a non for profit "humane" organzation but its really a business run by Eastern Europeans (Bosinans)  They fool companies into donating their hardly used machines (and even charging them to donate) and then give away a little bit of that and then sell the rest on kijiji or ebay.

They also harvest email address from canadian companies from their websites and spam them.

Era.ca is an actual non-profit from Calgary Alberta and they do good work for real.  BUT they are a pain in the a** and although I've asked them to take my information off thier contact lists a number of times they keep calling and emailing.  My advice is to stay away from them.

My answering machine picked up and recorded an amateurish sounding robocall (pre-recorded message).  The caller claimed to be representing a non-profit charitable organization (no name given) that collects old computers & electronics for recycling.  The web address http://www.era.ca was quoted.

I viewed the web site given in the message and I have some concerns that it's a scam.  On the site they list a bizillion charitable organizations that they work with - the list seems unusually large.

At any rate people with old computers & electronics in my community can just take them over to the city's Eco Stations (recycling depots).  I fail to see the need for this intermediary.

This call came just 30 minutes after I received a call from the fictitious (spoofed) number 1-140-884-0208.  Prior to receiving these 2 calls today I have gone for several weeks without having received a single unwanted phone call.
