THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION NOR HONOR THEIR REQUESTS. They work with a team of scammers and once one person gets any information, they forward it to these people. IT IS NOT A LEGITIMATE COLLECTION COMPANY. THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!! I just recently answered a FAKE work at home opportunity from an email and of course I knew it was a FAKE. I've been working with several police authorities to help investigate and catch these thieves. After I busted the previous scammer, then the next day I got a phone call from these scumbags.... NEVER BELIEVE THEIR THREATS OF GARNISHMENTS NOR TAKING YOU TO COURT OR ARRESTING YOU. IT IS A LIE AND A FRAUD. The local news in my area covered a story on this scam being that they've targeted my area and unfortunately a lot of people fell for this scam. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY . DO NOT ENTERTAIN THEIR CALLS. HANGUP AND FORWARD THEIR NUMBERS TO A FORWARDING DISCONNECTED NUMBER OR USE AN APPLICATION ON YOUR CELL TO AUTOMATICALLY HANGUP WHEN THEIR CALLS COME THROUGH.

To "file a 1099c" means that some or all of a debt was cancelled and you can have tax liability for the "forgiven" portion. It has no relation at all to wage garnishment, which is to say the DRS rep described here was a clumsy liar. What's likely is that there was no proof of claim, so they have to bluff their way out with illegal threats.

} "She told me the validity of the debt was not in question ..."

What a laugh. It's absolutely in question if the alleged debtor is doing the questioning! That's a basic right granted by the FDCPA. This call is packed with violations. I hope you have the good sense to sue before Thanksgiving this year.

SoL varies by type of debt, most of it falling into four categories. In Georgia the number is four or six years depending on category. Officially I've read Open Accounts (such as credit cards) expire at four, but in 2008 a state appeals court ruled that to be six. The lesson there is to always look straight at your current state law and contact your state regulators when this question matters to you.

Collection of debt is legal regardless of account age in all but two states. (Georgians aren't that lucky.) Litigation or its threat over time-barred debt is what's wrong.

In Georgia, collection companies have 7 years from the date of first delinquency to collect on a debt, legally. Tell them you will take legal action if they continue to call and harass you.

Debt Collector
I got a message from this number from a Mr. McClain. He left a contact number of 866-421-4998. He said it was an attempt to collect a dept. I was not aware of any debt so I gave them a call back and spoke with a woman. She would not give me the name of the company or even her name. She gave me a rundown of my dept and said that this was my last chance to pay the settlement before they filed a 1099c to garnish my wages. She quoted a balance on a department store card due from 1998 with a balance of over $18,000.00 due on a card. I don't even remember having this card. She said they offered me a settlement of $2000.00 and that this was my last chance before they started garnishing my wages. When I said I was unaware of any debt and that I did not receive any letters from her company she became defensive and said this was my last chance to pay and not be garnished. I told her I was not going to pay anything until the validity of the debt was determined. For that I would need to have more information and that I would need to contact my lawyer. She told me the validity of the debt was not in question and that I needed to pay or be garnished. When I told her that I was not prepared to pay without more information she hung up on me after telling me to look for the garnishment to come out of my paycheck. After doing some research I found that the company is DYNAMIC RECOVERY SOLUTIONS and that they have a long history of this type of call.

Then I lost her, due to a poor signal on my cell.

It's a collection service.  I got a voicemail saying that "this is a contact number for a matter in our office" and that "I'm obliged to tell you that this call is an attempt to collect a debt."  However, he left a call-back number of 866-428-8102.

This number just came up on Caller ID asking to call "Miss Troy" about an urgent matter.  The callback number that they left was 866-295-9370.  When I Googled that number it is for some collection company called Pinnacle Recovery Systems.  Good the 866 number and it will give more info from other posters.

I received a call from 404-220-7478 on 10/18/2011 at 10:06AM. There was a voice message left from a woman with a very serious tone to her voice, but sounded like a pre-recording, The first part of the message was cut off and then began with "As soon as possible, it is very important. Our office phone number is 888-912-7923...It is very important that we receive a return call as soon as possible. Thank-you very much"
