This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I received a call from this person again today and today the person calling was Karen Rogers. They are downloading a case against me today in the county. If this is accurate, and it is not, I sure have a lot of cases being filed against me in the county since April when these calls started. So entires Karen Rogers calls me from multiple phone numbers in different states on the same day. It is like my number is on a list under multiple numbers and Ms. Rogers just leaves these messages without realizing she had called me two other times that day. She must travel a lot each day as she makes her phone calls! Sometimes there is a listing attached to the number. Today it is Legal Mediation. Sometimes it is listed as Fraud Unit and various other names. It is ridiculous! I do not answer these calls not do I return the calls. When it all started, I did answer and return the calls and these people are mean and very rude! They get mad if you call the police and one time my lawyer and I spoke with them on 3-way calling and they were very angry when my lawyer informed them they were frauds and that he didn't want to hear from them unless they mailed a written complaint signed by a judge with proof of the debt owed. Of course, nothing has ever been mailed nor have I ever received anything in writing. I have never received a Pay Day Loan and I never will apply for one. I do not know how they got my number but they are extremely annoying and now they are calling me multiple times a day. I am keeping a log of the calls, the phone numbers, and the names of the people who call. I have shared this with the police but I don't think they are really doing anything.

Have received multiple calls previously from this number, but they have not left a voice mail until recently. The message stated that the caller was named Karen Rogers "from the financial crimes division." Division of what? I don't know. Anyway, she went on to state that I am listed as a person of interest for something or other, and that I am "required" to call her back by a certain time or a warrant would be issued for my arrest.

This was last night @ 8pm EST. I currently have two more voice mails waiting for me from this same number, so I am sure it will be more of the same.

I have several years in the field of commercial and consumer debt recovery.  I am now a financial litigator and I can tell you quite simply that this is nit a legitimate firm. The FDCPA dies not permit scare tactics to consumer debt. If the balance is less than 9,999.99, a third party is required BY FEDERAL LAW to submit a civil case within a local court. They use a vague verbiage to make a consumer pay a debt. You should report this as the company that is claiming you owe is a third-party collection agency. They CAN NOT LEGALLY FILE LEGAL ACTION ON CONSUMER DEBT WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY BARRED IN THE STATE THE CONSUMER OR THE ENTITY THAT YOU MAY OWE US IN. THIS CAN BE DISREGARDED AS THEY ARE IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF SECTION 801 OF THE FDCPA.

Lol. Same thing happened to my GRANDMOTHER who is 82 years old. Claimed that she took out a payday loan back in 2012. They had an affidavit for her regarding the incident. I had asked for the information they had and they could only give me her address last four of her social and one of my OLD email accounts. I asked them what account it went into and they said they weren't sure how it was processed. I then told them they are required to give me written proof. The representative got very frustrated with me and hung up. Be very careful people.  Good Day

Debt Collector
I just had a call from a Lisa Wiliams @ 404-410-1518 saying they would be downloading an affidavit @ 5:00 pm EST for Grand Larceny & Theft.  Claims I owe 1601.39 due TODAY or I would be arrested tonight.  She said she the company name is Cash Central & they have over 300 payday loan companies, all under different names.  She then let me talk to an "arbitrator" by the name of Lance, went thru the same spiel as others went thru, demanded full payment today.   I told him NO & he got mad & hung up on me.  I knew it was a scam, 1st - I don't have any payday loans & 2nd - it is illegal for any bill collector to threaten arrest & demand a payment immediately

Contact the State Attorney Generals office. I received a call they claimed I owed two loans. When I began to question the person she hung up on me. Well, I called back and got further information. The ss # was wrong, email address was wrong, and the birth date information was wrong. The person to whom I was speaking to understood that I was not going to accept this mess. She cleared my record or should I say the bogus record with my phone number attached. What these folks do is called a skip trace to find folks with the same name then they make the random calls hoping to find who they are looking for. They cannot threaten you with arrest or anything else for that matter as it is against the law. Again, report it to tne State Attorney General's office. I hope this helps. Oh yes, make sure you get the name of the person you spoke to so you may add it to your complaint.

This is a long summary, but you need to read it carefully if you think you are being threatened by a debt collector.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

* Every collector must send you a written ?validation notice? telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don?t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

* Debt collectors may NOT
- repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
- falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives
- falsely claim that you have committed a crime
- falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company
- say you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt
- say they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so
- communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.
- say that legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action
- use a false company name
- take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally;

The debt collector may not garnish your wages unless there is a court order to do so.
+ Many Federal benefits (including Social Security Benefits) are exempt from garnishment

You have the right to sue a collector in a state or federal court within one year from the date the law was violated. If you win, the judge can require the collector to pay you for any damages you can prove you suffered because of the illegal collection practices, like lost wages and medical bills. The judge can require the debt collector to pay you up to $1,000,

Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General?s office, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

So are they fake? I got the same message for Karen. I called back and they said the debt was to Cash Central which I have never heard of. They said that Cash Central covers 300 pay day loans companies. I have two unpaid loans. BUt they would not tell me who they were the individual loan company. Not sure what to do. When I called back they said they were with a mediation company called Bloomberg and Cohen.

Just got a call from these people.  Said I have and affidavit blah blah blah. . I've unfortunately had to sign up for payday loans online and this is where these scammers are getting your information from.  They prey on the weak and misinformed.  Keep track of all your info if you ever have to take one of these loans out.  I'm fully paid and have nothing to worry about.  Also ask them to disclose the full SS# to you rather than the last 4.  If they contain the whole thing it is illegal for them to have it so they will never tell you the whole thing.  They'll simply say I don't have that info or I am not allowed to tell you.  That's when you say send this information to  my lawyer and give them a friends address and name, gets them to stop calling everytime.

This is a scam caller. Karen Rogers leaves a messages and always calls from a different number saying I have financial crimes downloading into my account today. What BS. I have No legal action against me in any state, plus they always say its downloading today, however it's been several months that I've been receiving these calls. The last one came from number 404-418-7979 same person. Same exact message. Its a scam. Do not call them back, they will say you owe thousands of dollars and want your information.
