"No Name" call to my cell 5:37 p.m. 12-9-13.  I don't answer; they don't leave message.  I block # on cell, but am limited to 5 #s without a charge.

At one time, I was very diligent about reporting these calls to DNC, TN DNC, etc.  The TN DNC will not do anything unless you "answer and talk to someone" which I AM NOT DOING!!  The reporting seems to get us nowhere, so I've given up reporting to any of these organizations.

This is NOT trivial nor a small annoyance. Perhaps some morons have nothing better to do, but I have. The ftc making millions does NOT stop the calls, nor does it help me!

I go to the person... then put my phone on mute and let them answer.  Eventually one of them removes me from the list.

I have reduced the # of calls dramatically this way.

Don't have a credit card

Get scores of calls from this company--

Robocall with option to be 'removed from list' (yeah, right) or to transfer to a rep.

Reps always hang up when you tell them you don't want them calling/don't need their services

Different phone number everytime they call

I love these people, I am soooooo rude to them it makes me laugh when I insult them.
I suggest to everyone just be a total a***ole to them until they ALL stop calling.

Or I have a better idea, these companies should be listed with their address and company name so we can all go there and meet them personally.  I for one would love to shake their hand WINK WINK.

Just some food for thought, if you try to scam someone you get what you deserve no matter what it is.

Bill and Jim, calling the Do Not Call registry and/or your senator and or the FCC is not going to help.  I have already done all of that and filled out the requisite online complaint forms.  The callers are criminals on another continent who do not care about the registry or any US law.  These criminals use a computer to auto-dial as many people as they can hoping to trick someone into revealing their credit card information.  The computer spoofs the incoming phone number.

For the past 2 years I have received calls on my cell phone from DOZENS of different phone numbers with area codes from all over the U.S.  I have 8 full profiles on my phone of blocked numbers, and I will add this one today.  The calls are typically from "Rachel" at "card services" and if you say anything at all to them that suggests you are not going along with their phishing scam, they hang up.  Then they call back from a different phone number the next day, the next week, the next month.  I heard a story on NPR over the spring 2013 that the FCC was offering a cash reward to anyone who could invent a way for US citizens to block these calls from Rachel because they have not found a way to do it.  I wish someone would figure it out fast!  In the meantime, I do not answer calls from unknown numbers and I try not to let it bother me.  The only other option is to shut off my phone.

Computer-generated robo-calls / phone spam.

Since it's computer-driven, they can spoof all info about themselves, including the originating phone number. (That's why, when you call the phone number displayed as being the calling number, it's usually disconnected.)

And, since they just start dialing some given number and then dial the next, and the next, and the next, etc, they hit Do-Not-Call numbers as well.  They don't care.

I don't know if there are enough people who respond to blind calls and "press 1 now to talk to a representative" and actually SIGN UP for the product/service/scam to make it financially worthwhile to run these operations, or if what they're doing is collecting "live numbers" (=actually assigned to people) for a database to sell to some other scam outfit.  Or both.

Whatever.  They should rot in hell.

How and why are these people calling me if I'm on the National Do Not Call list?  They don't leave a message and when I call the number back, I get a recording stating that the number has recently been disconnected.

Caller ID Unavailable, called at 12:38 pm and left no message.  It's probably about some mortgage or re-fianance which I am on the no call list so don't know why I am getting this solicitation.

To everyone that either - complains that these people don't adhere to the Do Not Call list, try reporting their number, or try to be removed from their list:

DONT BOTHER!

It wont do any good, these people are criminals! Why would they care about the DNC list?
Reporting the number? What good will that do, its a faked spoofed number.
Asking them pretty-please to remove you from their list, ha! See the comment about them being criminals. Didn't you get a clue when they either hung up, were rude, or cussed you out, that they are not a legitimate business?

The only way to stop this is to stop making it profitable.

- Tell everyone you know about this criminal scam.
- Waste as much of their time as possible, string them along, give them fake credit card numbers (use an online credit card # generator, so they are properly formatted and validate, but not real numbers), give them the customer service number to a credit card bank (but not yours! - just google one) Give no personal info whatsoever! Use a fake name. I consider it a victory when (sometimes after 10 to 20 minutes) they finally realize that I am intentionally messing with them, and they start cussing me out!

Tell the next scum-sucker that calls, that you have all of your cards listed in a BANKRUPTCY. Offer them your "attorneys" phone number. Tell them that you are SURE that they don't want to violate Federal Law that prevents them from contacting someone who is currently in bankruptcy.
