Received call from 'Voxeo' today...no message...I was out. I receive anonymous suspicious 800 type calls all the time, even though I'm on the do not call national list. You can can contact the federal communication commission...www.fcc.gov...and they will investigate this number and hopefully, they will be prosecuted for their devious deeds...good luck.

I had exactly the same experience yesterday. The call came just as I was finishing up the installation of the new modem.

It is indeed the test call number from Comcast. I just replaced and activated a new "Internet / Digital Voice Modem", and the activation process sent a test call to ensure that portion had properly activated. The call came through immediately, and I pressed * to hang up. End of story.
As seen in numerous postings here, this is the case. If you do not have Comcast, then it dialed a wrong number for some reason - such as the person activating had entered a wrong number. If it keeps calling (it's an automated call/recording) and you are not answering this "unknown" number, it will likely keep calling as an unresolved test until you finally do answer and then and press the * key.

If it is truly the test call number for Comcast, then why must they call so many times!!! It would be typical of the cretins at Comcast to sell your private number to another entity just to annoy and aggravate you, which seems to be established Comcast policy. Otherwise, it is suspected to just be another spam fraud caller using a computer-generated number or tie-line with area code 407, as one of the callers for this number left a very lengthy voice message in Gajurati (one of the languages in India).

I've been getting these calls on my Google Voice number--I have Comcast internet and basic cable, but not Comcast phone (we did have it for about two months nearly 4 years ago).
I'm initiating call block on Google voice for this number...will see what happens.

This is the telephone number for Comcast's new line test call. It is not a scam though it is a third party working with Comcast. They call after the line is hooked up to test the line and make sure everything works. If you get a call from this number and you did not just get a new phone line, the call probably should have gone to someone else.

These folks call at all hours with a pre-recorded message, "This is a test call from ComCast, Please press star key."
Problem is, Comcast says it isn't them and they can't seem to stop the 'test call'. They manage to stop it for a few days or a month, then they start again. Hourly. One time started at 2:00 AM

you will find that number on all our 'so called private" secure phone answering machines through Comcast. Vocax is a spammer for Comcast, so we are paying Compcast to not have spam calls, and then they tell our numbers to Vocax. I want to know what can be done, it should be illegal without our permission, and this results in the leaking of our private telephone numbers to other people. For example, I was threatned and harrassed by a woman who called my new unlisted number, and asked for Youlanda, I said she was not there. She said you are a liar and I am recording your call, and I told her, I am recording your call for the police.

Within four days I had four unlisted telephone numbers, and all four had problems. I am most upset my number was sold to a company hired by Comcast. Check your phone listing for messages for 407-376-6889, then google it. You private unlisted number is not so private. I am recommendeing people contact police, FCC, your Representatives etc and tell them we want the spamming we are paying against to be enforced, and not double dipped or billed by Comcast. I am really upset about this issue, as should we all be.

I started receiving tele-marketing calls the day after comcast connected my service.
I've had so many missed calls from this number - it comes through at least 4 times per day.
What happend... comcast used to be so great....

There is NO DOUBT Comcast sells your new number. Within less than a day of having a new phone line installed with Comcast digital, I began receiving telemarketing calls. I did list my number on the "do not call" lists for both national and state, however, that is kind of after-the-fact. The marketing companies already have your number by then, and it can take up to 60 days for your number to be removed from their lists.
If you are thinking about getting a new number with Comcast, BEFORE they install it, tell them to make sure your number is NOT RESOLD to anyone else!

As prior person said - this is simply an automated call from Comcast immediately after you have a Comcast VOIP line installed. The call is used to make sure that your new phone line is working.

Voxeo is the automated call back system from Comcast, it is part of the test after the install of the system into your homes.

I get a call from this number everyday, every 10 minutes. It has called over 85 times today. It says its a test call from Comcast and to press the star key to disconnect. This has been going on for a while now but it has just gotten more frequent.
