I didn't answer the call but they left a message.  It was Staples calling to upgrade rewards account.

This is a Staples call center and they apparently support multiple divisions of the company.  I called and spoke to one of their managers who removed me from their list.  They had my info from when I signed up for a rewards card in one of the stores, but they let you opt out.  The group that called me was "telesales" and the manager that took me off the list was Ronnie (forgot his last name).  He told me that his group follows up on purchases in the store and from online shopping.  They offer discounts and other promotions, so maybe it's part of their rewards program  He also said that they are closed after 5:30PM Eastern during the week and closed on weekends, so if anyone is getting calls outside of that, it is likely a spoofed caller ID like a previous poster mentioned.

It is a Staples sales center and they will remove you from their list if you call and ask to speak to a manager.  They obtained my number when I signed up for their rewards card in one of the stores.  However, they were very pleasant when I asked to be removed from their list.  It took me a moment to get to a manager because I didn't know which of the divisions called me.  Turns out it was "telesales" and they support retail stores.

Debt Collector
Also, to know if its a legitimate Staples call, or anyone else... if you answer and its silent, noone there... its probably a debt collector re-direct

If it were actually Staples, there would be someone on the other end of the phone talking to you.  We receive calls from our account manager too that are legit, others are not, as I said before, Wyndham is after me with a vengeance, and have tried every tactic in (and out) the book

Its not actually from Staples... It's from a debt collector, probably Wyndham, as that is who is after me.  They use the Staples number as a re-direct to hide who they are, which is illegal.  They call to see if you answer and if you are still working there.  They use the Staples # because they know most offices have a Staples account.

If it could be documented, it could be a good lawsuit for Staples, and good for us too.

I am a Staples employee. This is our retail/rewards account management team. We are employees NOT vendors and nor are we contractors. As account managers we assist business owners with all facets of their office supply needs with Staples. It's a way that we here at Staples say thanks to business owners for the continued business over the years. We provide business recommendations, product research, and overall save our clients time and money over all aspects of their Staples needs. You are getting calls because of the amount of business YOU and YOUR ORGANIZATION bring to Staples.

I ASSURE you we here at Staples value each and every one of you's business...which is why we are calling.

Thank you.

I have gotten a call from this number for the past two days. However, it doesn't even ring long enough for me to answer it. Never leaves a message.

Someone from this number keeps calling me and when I answer, they hang up.  They are calling a cell phone number not a land line.

They never say a word, just rings and then nothing.

Yes.  It's Staples. Our rep calls us regularly...but I have a different number to return his call.  Perhaps this basic number is another division of Staples. I couldn't answer at the time they called.  They didn't leave a message.  I don't like that when these companies call, and call, and call and don't leave a message.  If you leave a message I'll call you back.  If you don't then your loss.

Someone from this number called into my phone system and was on the call for 42 minutes.  No one from my office spoke with them, so that means they are either just pressing buttons and trying to figure out my phone system or they call and don't actually pay attention to the prompts.
If it really is Staples, it's a bad business practice.  I'm guessing Staples is hurting for revenue and has employed some telemarketing company to shake some sales.
Otherwise, it's a scam.

I just called the number back like you suggested, hit 0 for the operator and she could not help me.  You would have to know your rep's name and request from that person to have you removed from a list.  Didn't work for me.

I have received 2 calls at my office within the last 10 days from 407-475-4200.  The caller ID says Staples.  When I answer, the caller hangs up.  I called the number to ask to be removed from their calling list and my call was transferred to voice mail. We'll see where that goes...

You must work for Depot or Max.  This center is closed and the system shut down at night, so there aren't any calls.  In the worst case, you are getting a spoofed caller ID which is caused by one of two credit services call centers in the same area.

I think the only way STAPLEs will stop is if we all start shopping at another office super store.  I am never shopping at STAPLES again as they keep calling my cell phone several times a day and at night and leaving no messages!

Received several calls during the holidays with this number all not leaving any messages.  One had someone in the background in a car moving around (very strange).  Glad to know that this site exists to find out what the heck this number was.  Filed complaint on Staples.com website and recommend that everyone also do the same in addition to their posts on line here.   A reputable company like staples will either research their problem with the telecom guys and fix it or file a lawsuit against the folks doing this to not tarnish their own brand name.  Hopefully, their customer contact list did not get outside of the organization.
