I received a call from this number stating that I was past due on my account. I'm set up on auto-pay so this really concerned me. I verified that my last payment had gone through and signed on to my account to make sure that everything was in good standing. Everything was exactly the way it should have been, so I called BGE's main number (not the numbers provided in the message). She confirmed that my account was in good standing but went on to check the number that they called only to see that my number was associated with another account. She removed that number from that account and said I should not receive any more calls.
If you are getting a call from this number, it is real. If you're past due, pay them. If not, someone may have mis-dialed or, as in my case, someone had my phone number on their account. Just ask them to remove it.

There are 4 or 5 collection agencies that handles BGE debts.

Your phone number could have belonged to someone else previously and is still in the system for that other customer if it was not changed.  This is the only way you would have gotten a call if your account was not past due.

They say nothing about a turnoff notice and they called twice all fuqqin ready what's the deal with this s*** I've never been behind on a bill foh  .....

I just got a call from this number, BG Collections - they have an old telephone number - but this is an authentic number.

It is Baltimore Gas & Electric automated collections.

I just got the same thing. I suspected it might be a fraud, but I did a google search on the phone number and found this page. I called the regular BGE number and it seemed someone else had my phone number on their account. Maybe it was deliberate, maybe it was accidental, but they said they would delete the number from the other account. Hopefully that will fix the problem permanently.

I just got a robo-call from this number, and it said if I have questions to call same number. I called the number back, it's BGE Collections. When given the number options, I pressed 0, though that was not mentioned as an option. I spoke to a representative, and she saw that my account was current. I asked her how someone could open an account with my phone number. She told me that she couldn't discuss it because of Privacy Act. I said, "WHAT?!?!?!" I mean, they call MY number, but can't discuss how an account was opened using MY number!!!! She said that maybe the numbers were transposed or something. I guess I can understand that. She said she would remove my number and they wouldn't call again.

I received a call from this number last month, where I checked online to see that my bill was paid.  After I saw that it was paid on time I forgot about the call.  Then, about a week ago I received another call from the BGE number.  I called to check it out.  It turns out that someone stole my identity and opened up a BGE account in a neighboring city.  Lucky for me they didn't pay their account on time so they called the number associated with the account, which is mine.  So, I'm writing a letter to the company to fix this.  If you get a call from them, know that it isn't a scam... They are just trying to get a hold of you.  Lucky for me they called me so I can fix this problem.

I pay my sister's electric bills which she currently has with BGE. Since I started paying them, I have been getting calls from that dumb azz company claiming that they are going to cut her service off, but I have always paid them on time. I was getting calls and a few letters in the mail when I had zero balanced due, so I decided to call the company have this crap cleared up. I was told that "you're not showing any balance due, so I do not know why you are recieving a turnoff notice" (SOMETHING'S KIND OF ODD ABOUT THAT). In short, I think it's a low budget service, and if anyone is considering moving to an area that this company services, I suggest you stay away.

This is definitely an automated call from BGE collections trying to give you a chance to pay because you are extremely late on your bill. I know because I am...but hey the economy has affected everyone you pay bills when you have the money. But this phone number is definitely from BGE and it is a serious call!

This is not a law firm, it's BGE's direct collections line. They do not call unless you have a turn off notice and they'll only call once or twice.

Twice in the past month, I have gotten an automated call from this number and it says "This is an urgent message from BGE.  The account associated with this number is subject to denial..."  I hang up before the message is complete.  I don't even have an account with BGE, nor do I even live in their service area!  I googled the number and it seems to indeed be a BGE number.  Wierd.

They call me claiming to be from BGE and they say that a turnoff notice has been issued for myt account. They say to call the number back if I have a question. I will not and haven't yet. Don't call them! I've already payed my bill and don't want them calling me! They're crooks!
