I received the same call from the same man with the horrible accent. He said your husband must call me today....I said, Nope, not happening, because you are not with the IRS. He got upset. A few minutes later - the number called again and then sent a text message. Unreal... Total scam. It started last year.

I got a call today from 415-251-8504 from a Jerry Roberts telling us to send him my lawyers number and gave me a ref# and to call back as they notice a problem with out tax returns...

I received a voicemail from a Gavin whom I could barely understand through a thick accent. They had my last name right but that was all. When I called back I got the same jerk that left the message and when I told him I'm not who he's looking for, he unprofessionally placed me on hold without saying anything, got back on the line and said 'hello' then put me on hold and this went on for about 3 minutes til I wised up, hung up & decided to google the #. Glad I did. This is a scam ! Report them to the FBI and block the #, they will try to extract info from u so don't give them ANY real info ! They even called today (saturday) after I found out they were scamming me and I just yelled in the mouth piece of my phone saying 'I reported u to the FBI And know ur scammers, f*** u! DO NOT CALL ME, EVER (x3 times) lol f##cl these jerks!

Just got a call from this number... highly doubt irs is opperating on a saturday... heavy indian accent would not tell me what the call is for. Gave me a Case# and everything. You could hear the recorder in the background.i hung up on them and they called right back .

The guy calls me around 8:00 am telling me that I owe money.  His name is Ricky Johnson and is calling from the IRS.  I call the "other number" to get in contact with Michael Carter, 415 251 8504, and I ask him for Michael Carter.  I tell him that I really need to speak with Michael.  The guy tells me that Michael is on holiday, so I grill him asking what holiday it is.  I tell him that the IRS doesn't operate on the weekend and Mike needs to know the difference from holidays and vacations.  He needs a talk from HR.  They'll pick up if you want to troll.  These people are terrible and claim to be a major government institution.   The IRS will usually send a letter or take back taxes/tax related charges out of your following refund.  They'll send a letter before ever calling.

Call today twice; first time no message a hang up on answering machine.
Second time left a message same as those reported;  could not understand the man; said I had inconsistencies
in my income tax and need to call asap to prevent litigation!  This is the second time in the last
three months the call has come thru.  I checked and knew it was a scam!  Please check before
giving out any personnel information.

I got a phone call from these con artists two straight days last week. The first time (at 9 something in the morning local time and 6 something in California. I knew 415 is a San Francisco bay area area code.)  I didn't grab the phone till the answering machine had already picked up. Called himself Ricky Thompson, was asking for my wife, and said that either she or her attorney needed to call back. When I got on the line, he told me he was from the tax litigation department of the IRS. He didn't get any threats towards me or my wife, because I told him that he was a fake. He said 'what?' I told him he was a con artist and that he'd better get off the phone before I call the cops.

The next day they called again between the hours of eight and nine in the morning. He started asking for the wife again when I said 'Its you again'. He immediately hung up.

In between these calls I called them back. Told them somebody was going to come over there and shoot you in both kneecaps before cutting your balls off and sticking them in your mouth. When through, pictures would be taken and then posted to the internet for your family and friends to see. Then I hung up and so far as I know they never hung up. Person who picked up the phone was the same who had called me both times.

James Anderson called me from this number this morning. He stated that I have a warrant issued on my name and the cops will be here tomorrow morning to pick me up. After asking him for a reason he said that I have unpaid taxes and being charged with tax fraud. Asked me to pay $6,173 now and he can close the case or if we go to court then it would be arounf $14,718 which will include all the court fees.

Call came to a *work* cell phone number not associated with any tax return.  Cut heavily accented male voice off mid-spiel, telling him I knew the call was a scam and I was going to report the number to IRS and anyone else I could.  I also blocked the number on my cell phone.

Received the call on my work cell phone.  This number is *not* associated with any tax return.  I answered with my standard work response, naming my company and requesting to know how I could assist the caller.  The heavily accented male voice started his spiel re the claim to be from the IRS litigation department . . . I cut him off telling him the call is a scam.  He tried to get back to his spiel, but I told him I was calling the IRS to report him and his phone number and would report the number as a scam and hung up.  I also blocked the number on the cell phone.

These guys called me the other day and I told them I knew they didnt work for the IRS and that I reported them. I called back several times because I wanted to get answers.. and also I was having a bad day and wanted to take it out on someone. Finally they kept answering and hanging up right away.

They called me again today.. I answered and said "I talked to you the other day and I told you that I reported you to the IRS, who are you and why are you trying to steal people's money?" and the guy started saying "I like you.. I love you, I love your voice." So creepy.

Thanks for the info about the scam. I got a call from 415 251 8504 from "Mike Belly" with thick Asian accent. He left a message stating that there were some tax deficiencies and to avoid litigation I or my lawyer should call back immediately. Also, this was highly time sensitive. When I called them back, they hung up on me.

Criminals claiming to be IRS employees,but they are NOT!!! I did contact FBI.

They operate out of India.   The US government can't do anything and the Indian government won't do anything.  Seems to me we in the US have the technology to stop these calls, but it isn't being used.

Call blocker is your best bet.   They won't stop calling.   But you can protect yourself.

Just received the call this a.m. on my unpublished office number.  As above, an extremely heavy Indian or Spanish accent that after listening to the message left more than ten times was able to cipher out a few bits & pieces.  Had the full name of my spouse, never could understand the caller's name, did contain a reference number for some case "Jackson Litigation Dept." was prosecuting for some "illegal" actions of some sort that I could never fathom out.  Could have been the "IRS" but certainly could not under stand that from the accent.  Caller ID showed "Novato, CA".  Did not call back as if they are in CA they 'could' get a judgment there if legit, but would have to then reduce the CA judgment to our state to collect being on the opposite end of the country.

I have 2 phone messages from this number 415 251 850, 4 hours apart on Saturday.   I did not pick up the call because it was coming from a number I do not recognize.  A woman voice with heavy accent claims she is Sammy Taylor and asks for me or my attorney to call her back.   I had to listen to it seven times to determine what she says.  She works for the Tax Letigation Department, and this is a time sensitive issue.   If I do not take immediate action, they will deduct my income.   I am glad I google this number to see many people are getting similar call.

Just had a call from phone number 1-415-251-8504. An Indian Lady with such a thick accent left a message that I needed to call regarding a tax lawsuit against me and to call their tax litigation dept. immediately. She gave a claim number too. Her accent was so thick that I could hardly make out what she was saying. Plus she didn't even use my full name. I decided to check the internet before calling this piece of s***! Thank God for that and the internet! I could only imagine how many people would get scammed with out the web to check these kind of things!

All you had to do is tell them you are reporting their telephone number to the FBI.  I bet you, had you said that, they would have hung up the telephone immediately.

IRS enforcement by court or administrative action is a last resort.  They always start by sending you a statement showing their position relative to you tax claims.  This is always done by US mail.  The IRS DOES NOT initiate actions with either phone calls or e-mails . Most IRS offices are more than happy to work with the tax payer to resolve disputes without either administrative or court action.   No way would the IRS start a court action over deductions without going through a lengthy negotiation process with the tax payer.

This is a common scam run by extortionists working out of India.
