Just got the same call today.  

I called San Francisco PD and they said they are well aware about the case.  The call was made from India and just routed using a 415 area code.  I asked the dispatcher why those numbers are not shut down.  The dispatcher said they tried but there is no way to shut them since it is just routed from India.  He asked everyone encounter the situation to put it on the internet, FB, any other social medias and tell everyone you know don't fall into it and becomes the scam victim.

415-215-4089. PUT INTO PHONE LOOKUP TO SEE THAT IT IS A BIG SCAM.   IRS ONLY SENDS LETTERS OUT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM......... DONT GIVE ANY INFO

I received two of these calls exactly as many described here, except the phone number was from (415)251-6183. Many red flags prompt me to check it out as a scam:
1) foreign accent - East European?
2) Common name - Jean Anderson
3) No mention of where she is from except the "litigation"
4) Noisy background - like in a call center
5) Make believe file number and ask you or "your legal representative" to call

Someone called our house from 4152526183 and left the message.  I couldn't understand a single word  he left in my machine.  I called his number back talk with this person.  He said that his name Eric Jones working in IRS Investigation Department. And he said some one put a case against him and he needs to speak with the particular person from my house.  This is a scam.

Same  purported IRS tax owing scam.  Pay now or be arrested.  Heavy foreign accent.  I told the guy the FBI is after him.

Same guy new number 415-251-4974.

The above is the script,  even they cant speak proper english...And iRS never calls you, they send the mail and letters. ..plz guyz take care and forward the message as soon as possible. .so every 1 can knw.....

We got a similar call.  When I called back, all she wanted was the name and phone number of my CPA.  Not sure why that is helpful to them...

Received two voicemail messages from the same number. Man with a heavy Indian accent stating he was Mark Williams calling about an IRS problem and I should call back or have my attorney call them.  IRS sends notices to people when they owe taxes. I called the number and it would not connect from my cell phone.  The called my home number.  Suggest renewing the DO NOT CALL again your numbers.  I believe this is definitely a scam.

SEEMS TO TARGET FORIEGN, ELDERLY, AND VERY YOUNG ADULTS.

local police departments and state police in Virginia have had numerous
COMPLAINTS about this scam tactic.
Seem to target foreign, or very young adults, or much older adults and
manipulate them into PAYING TAXES right away or face jail time.
They have taken people for thousands of dollars EACH.

I got a call from this number stating that they found deficiences in my income tax and they are going to arrest me if dont call them back.  Her name is Anna and she is from IRS investigation bureau. Agent Id. 10-784-182. and she is asking for my social security number and details.

I got the similar call today ..he said his name is Trey Bell IRS Agent Id 90-012-8816. He said they will be arresting me tomorrow . the sheriff is going come and have my attorney on stand by.

called our number and left message stating he is steven parker from irs .i called back lady answered told me they are coming to arrest me

i got the same call from The IRS Litigation Department from a man with a heavy indian accent saying his name is Kevin. He told me I will be arrested tomorrow for back taxes and to have my lawyer be present when they come to arrest me. They will forward my information to be forwarded to the Credit Bureaus, put a lien on the house, put a black mark on my social security number, and garnish my salary. I was so relieved to know other people have received the same call and that this is a scam. I can rest tonight knowing that this is nothing to be concerned about.

i received same message, said his name was david green, i have tax deficiency for 6 yrs, yes heavy indian accent guy, my give my husband the phone, told my husband that i will be arrested on monday morning, the sheriff will come to my place, my husband is a smart person, he said "you don't see this is a scam, don't give any personal information to them, and to contact the irs and let them know, in fact if there is a problem with your tax would'nt they contact you via mail? The guy said i will get a letter in 2 hours time, i returned this call to him at 2.30 pm, where would mail be received at that time.

Got 7 messages the same day from the 415-690-8134 number and   pretending  to be  IRS officer and they told  me I owe taxes and the way they were talking doesn't sound right.They threatened me that there is a warrant out for my arrest and I will be arrested next Monday morning .So I confronted them they disconnect my call. FAKE FAKE..........................

Got a call at 10:05 am Saturday 12/14/2013.  I was told that I was under investigation due a discrepancy in my taxes.  I asked why I had not received correspondence and apparently I should have already received something.  I found it rather odd that they would call on a weekend of all things.  Oh, and yes, their English was severely broken.

Anyway, I was supposed to contact this number and ask for a "Michael Carter".  All I got was a beep when I called that number.  This smelled so much like a scam it was humorous.

They left a message from this number saying I owed the IRS back taxes and I will be locked up next Monday

I got a call from (415) 690-8134, and an Indian-accented male told me he was the IRS.  I referenced the "case number" which was left on the message for me, and he pulled it up and knew my name.  He said I was going to be arrested on Monday.  He read me some long legal-sounding notice and then when I said it was a mistake and I knew nothing of what he was talking about he said I would be arrested and he hung up.

Got the same call from a man w/broken English who said he was calling about my income tax and it was a "time sensitive" issue and I needed to call back asap.  He left a reference number but when I called back a female answered.  I gave her the reference number then she proceeded to tell me I was not who I said I was.   I told her someone called me left a reference number so why would I be calling back if Im not the person the message was left for.  She said something else I couldnt understand then hung up.   Every time I call back (even on different phones) when they realize its me they hang up.  

Just received a call 3 minutes ago, man with really heavy accent. Also threatening income tax and talking about legal action. the # that called me 415-690-8134 came up Belvedere Ti Ca on my caller ID and was called Thursday Dec. 12 at appox 12:30 pm

Same call.as.others reported.  I didn't answer.  Message was left as others have said.  Glad I looked it up.

I returned the call from the "IRS" and gave them my "case number". Heavy Indian accent asked for my attorney's phone number so they could send documentation about my "case." I said I didn't have an atty and he replied "Get an atty and call me back!"
