The caller from the overseas boiler room claimed to represent Green Energy, which under further questions, she/he revealed to be a solar company that wanted to send and install one free solar panel.

Caller insisted that this was not a sales call and knowing that this was the second time that they had called my home, I demanded to be taken off the call list.  I informed the caller that further calls from them would cost their company money.  I reiterated my demand that I be taken off the call list immediately and then I bid he/she goodbye.

I just received a call from this number and it was two guys pretending to some home security system company.  It started like a wrong number, but then I corrected them. Then they proceeded to try to go with the flow. While we do have a home security by the company they pretended to be, what was the dead giveaway was that they were asking if we had a system in our home...and I had figured they should already know that we did and they wouldn't have to ask.  Then they tried to do this good-guy-vs-bad-guy routine. So I told them that this sounded suspicious, and I hung up.

As others have said here, the name showed as AOL MOVIE PHONE (and I think Movie Fone would actually be correct if it were really that AOL service) on my caller ID.  So please beware of these scammers!

Just got this stupid call on my Caller ID and left no message.  When I called back, I got a pre-recorded message saying, "Hello and welcome to the movie phone."  etc.  So I hung up.

It's still MoviePhone as of 11-14-11, in the CA Bay Area where I received the call. It hung up when I picked up after a few rings but I called it back (anon) and got a showbiz-sounding dude with voice prompts to find local movies. I assume the purpose is just to promote theater viewing.

I am supposed to be on a NO CALL LIST, but it just doesn't work, especially when these phone geeks who are in some other country hijack the system and get through.  When I get a call from these heavily accented mother f*****ers, I put them through a psychological maze that leaves them baffled and angry.  I play with them like the rats that they are.  It does not solve the problem.  But at least I leave them feeling like they are a parasite.  And they don't even know what just happened in our phone conversation, because I talk to them pretending to be a crazy person, and then I belittle them.

AOL 415-777-3456  calls all day long and hangs up if you don't answer.  So I answered today and aksed who it was.  In a very heavily accented Indian sounding voice, he said, "This is John", something I did not understand, then " This is not a sales pitch." I interupted and  I asked him to take me off the calling list.  We shall see...............

Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru.
But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies.
From Wikipedia:

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.

It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!
Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!

Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!

These f****ng a***oles.  Who are these people?  Why don't they get a real job?  If you get a call from this number, just know they are scammers,  and they intend to steal all your money and ruin your life, if you let them.  Give them some real s*** over the phone.  They DESERVE it.  They are calling illegally and should be held accountable.  The phone number comes up as MOVIEFONE when you call them back.  If they call you, talk back to them in crazy language, it really f**** with their head.  Say something like.."Why is a mouse when it spins?"  Or, "My desk is eating salad".

No one on the other side. I left it on speaker and they hung up after 10 seconds or so.

Just got a call from 415-777-3456. It used to associated with Movie-Phone, but apparently no longer.

If you've been getting calls on a daily basis and no one is on the other end chances are that it is being made from one of those boiler rooms. The computer dials several phones at a time. The person who answers their phone first gets the special treatment--they're treated to a sales pitch.
