rec'd a call, but no message was left.  Called the number back and the woman answered as Clean Energy Experts.

I had a similar call just a few minutes ago asking to donate $100 towards training programs for the members of the California Firefighters Association. I love these calls and will answer them all night long. I listen, act very sympathetic to what ever cause is being promoted and ask LOTS of questions. When I asked if the California Firefighters Association didn't receive funding for training from state and local municipalities I was immediately asked if I would like to speak with the agents supervisor.  The party was just starting. We had a long conversation but to make this short the young lady very quickly, and unsolicited, revealed that the California Firefighters Association had contracted with Zintel, the company initiating the call, for the Firefighters to "received 10% of all money raised." She added that Zintel had already raised "millions of dollars" for the fire fighters. "I'm sorry," I interrupted," Did I hear you correctly? You said the California Firefighters Association get 10% of every dollar raised?" To this young woman's credit she made no effort to sugar-coat what was going on here and actually apologized. As I said to her, "So the fire fighter's cut has been millions of dollars and Zintel's take is in the neighborhood of 9 times millions of dollars?" "Yes,sir," she replied. "I'm sorry, it's not me."

Just got a call from them. When I answered all I heard was static for a few seconds, then someone said "yeah, yeah" and hung up on me. Irritating.

I finally had someone answer, they calimed to be the "California Firefighters Association". I told them when they asked me how I was doing today, I told them the honest to God truth, " I'm unemployed and I was recently diasnosed with pre- Leukemia" He said well keep us in mind.

I thought, that's cold! I was annoyed. I looked up in the California State Attorney Generals search for this charity, NO RESULT....

I figured it's a fraud...

called when I was not home. Caller ID said "local call" although I am 916 area code. Did not leave a message but stayed connected using all remaining time on my answer machine

Got a call last nite at 8:41 PM and that's toolate to be calling.  I let the answering machine pick up and there was no message.  Caller ID just says San Francisco.

Him: "Hi can I speak to the owner?"
Me: "They're not here can I take a message?"
Him: "This is Todd Sutton, I'll just call back later."

just got a call from this number - work nights and woke me up again.  Called number and said it was the "California State Firefighters Association."  Scammer for sure - asked local fire department and they say it does not exist and they wouldn't cold call homes anyway.  someone should rip these scammers a new one

They may claim to be a fundraiser for fire fighters, but I do not trust any one of them calling me out of the blue. I've received several calls like this over the past month or so, from different numbers and even different cities, towns and even out of state. MOst of them cliamed to be from a police charity, etc. Seems very fishy to me. Never know if some callers are scamming, rather than actually raising money for legit purposes or organizations. If I want to donate, I will be the one calling or going to a website directly. Just remember, better safe than sorry! DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE.

Really? I called them back after the y purposely hung up on my saying "Hello" several times! I called back and some phony message claiming to be California Fighfighter's Association.
If this group is LEGALLY allowed to do this to soo many people without ANY legal ramifications, then something is SERIOUSLY wrong with our system.
Serial killers can talk nice too! I would never donate even someone else's money to these fools!

Wow...4 years later and they still call..they called twice today..no message left.

This guy got my number from http://ocgold.com, and asked "is this a business." When I said yes, he hung up. Peculiar behavior.

I get a call from this phone number every morning but nobody is on the other end.

Calling me Sunday morning @ 9:00 is total b***s***. These jerks also call from 415 992 7228.
Unknown/unwanted numbers automatically go to VM. No msg ever left. Next time both numbers will be entered into my phone call blocker.

They call three to five times a day, I have resorted to picking-up the phone while it is ringing and then and dropping the receiver: if they are charged for a long distance bill so be it. Suggest everyone pick-up and drop the receiver.

How can we report these kind of scams...

I have received at least three calls from this number: 415-992-7228. I do not pick up and they do not leave a message. Thanks to this board, I now know what they are all about. I will take appropriate action!

They keep calling every day and at different times. I just hang up on them.

I also get these calls. I have been on the do not call list for years. Does not seem to mean anything to these people. They call at least 4 times a week. No message. No answer.

These guys have called me several times. Told them I was not giving to anything or anybody.
It a so called "charity", and therefore are exempt from the do not call list.
If they become rude or obnoxious, call your State attorney general and file a complaint. I know California A.G will follow up. Had them help me a couple of times.
Also file a complaint with the BBB. That will stop the phone calls.

I won't be surprised that this is the result of att selling info to these morons.

I've been receiving a call from that number as well, and funny thing is my caller ID says it's local when 415 is NOT my area code.
