I have received more then 5 calls from this # on 1/28/14 I decided to pick up the call and told the guy that he had the wrong #. But he wouldn't listen to me. So I told the SOB that he need to learn to speak English before he uses a name like Alex Golden.  So the SOB called again on 1/29/14 and left 2 messages on my phone.  These guys are from India. Because I here him talk in Hindi on my 1st message and then call me back and tried to leave a message in broken English. They are  SCAMMERS -- DON'T GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION!!!!!  I'm Indian but was raised in the USA. So I knew from the start that they were not calling from the IRS.  Also IRS doesn't call you they send out certified mail that you have to sign for. My advice is let the answering machine get the call they will get tired and stop calling. For me I will have some fun with them before I let them go!!!!!!!

Someone with an Indian accent who identified himself as David Jones, left a threatening message saying that it was a "time sensitive IRS matter" and that it was very important that we return the call--very similar to the phone message that AA posted on 25 January.  He also said that either I or my attorney of record must return the call, and threatened that we dare not ignore the message.   He identified the number ((425) 209?103?3) at a hotline to his division at the IRS.

A man with foreign accent, going by the name of "Jim Washington" has been leaving messages for the past two days (1/23/14 & 1/24/14) of "time-sensitive" nature from the "IRS" requiring an "immediate call back".  Called them back today (1/25/14), and "Jim Washington's associate" (who, BTW, sounds just like "Jim Washington") claimed that there was a failure to file Tax Form 99T and that $9000 was owed to the "IRS" ASAP.  When inquired why we never received any written notice, was told that a notice was sent in "November of last year".  Then threatened that an arrest is forthcoming between "11a - 1p, today, and that all assets will be frozen and won't be able to be assessed".  Didn't get too far, but man was very rude, then hung up after making the threats of frozen assets. These people are SCAMMERS.  Have no idea WHO this phone number (425)-209-1033 is registered to, but someone should immediately shut down their SCAMMING operation!

Same situation here as DV from Stamford, CT.  Man with foreign accent, going by the name of "Jim Washington" has been leaving messages for the past two days of "time-sensitive" nature from the "IRS" requiring an "immediate call back".  Called them back today, and "Jim Washington's associate" (who, BTW, sounds just like "Jim Washington") gave the same song-and-dance that DV cited.  These people are SCAMMERS -- DON'T GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION (e.g. credit card info, banking info, tax info).  In fact, report them and their phone number (425)-209-1033 to your local Sheriff Department ASAP.

Jan-24-2014. Got a call from this number.  Someone speaking broken English in South-East Asian accent left a voicemail claiming to be from IRS. Jan-25-2014. I called back on Saturday and 'IRS' is at work. Same guy picks up the call. Confirms my homephone# and says that they have founds descrepency in my 2008-2009 returns and I must pay the balance due of $2000+ immediately (today) by buying a tax payment voucher from Walmart/Walgreens or few other stores. Then I got transfered to Mr. Kevin Ferguson. Same coversation was repeated and he asked me for far is Walmart from my place. I asked him why does it matter as I am willing to pay the dues immediately. He says "don't act smart, your bank accounts,  Driving license, other properties will be ceased by Sheriff's office in half an hour" and then hae hung up. Every word of these guys mouth spelled a big scam run by idiots.

Like another person posted, I also got a message from Jim Washington, claimed to be, or in relation to, IRS, with time sensitive information.  However, the call was from 415-803-3279 and the message ask me to contact him at 425-209-1033. Well, it is Saturday and IRS should be closed. The message is very suspicious and I did a look-up online and saw these posting.

We too received a call around 10:30 AM EST.  Spoke with a lady who claimed to be a para-lega, she had an Asian/Oriental accent.  Claimed that there is an issue with the IRS form files last year.  That I should contact a Sr. Officer named, Mr. Kevin Peterson at this number.  She also claimed that I could call back today as he working.
When asked why I haven't received a notification regarding this matter via mail, she said she didn't have additional details, she was simply an informer.  I find this fishy, and don't expect calls from the IRS on a Saturday.  Glad that I checked online and found several similar calls.

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.

An person with an Indian accent tried to call me this morning and wanted to talk to me and wanted personal information.
I told him to shut the f**k up and he hung the phone. Ironically, I have an Indian name, and he tried to butcher it with a fake American accent. I guess we are outsourcing scam work as well now.... Too costly to do the scamming from here????

Received early Saturday morning 5 continuous calls. Once I just picked up and waited, the person coughed, but did not say anything. Third call or so, he left a message that was only a phrase, not understandable. Fifth time, my sleep was gone, angry, I answered, but they would not talk. I said "morons" and hung up. They have not called again. Their number 425-209-1033, from Seattle, WA, is not traceable.

From someone, Jim Washington, claimed to be, or in relation to, IRS, with time sensitive information.  The caller had an foreign accent--could be south-east Asian.  He mentioned insufficient fund in my tax account.  Oh, he did direct the message to my name.  I'm guessing it's a scam; just like other reported:
