It's a simple process to beat these guys.
 1) If you don't already have it, GET CALLER ID.
 2) Make sure you know how to turn off your phone's ringer.
 3) When a call comes in, do not answer it unless:
    A) At least a phone number and/or name is displayed;
    B) You recognize the number or name, and;
    C) You want to speak with whomever it is.
 Unless an incoming call meets all three of the above criteria, simply turn off the ringer for a while. You can turn it back on later when you think of it. If these a$$ clowns keep calling long enough without ever getting through, they WILL eventually give up and move on.

This number has called me consitantly, at least 4 - 6 times daily.  When I have answered, no one replies back.  So, I'm just not answering it now since I have seen previous testimonials.

Apparently in 2002 I owed money to Sprint, some couple hundred dollars. After 6 years, today I received a call from RPM, located in WA, seeking to collect this debt. Considering I've never missed or been delinquent on my payments I thought something wasn't right. As soon as I disagreed with the caller and started questioning them, they hung up on me.
Just be aware if you have caller ID and see this number don't answer, these clowns are trying to pull a gimick and rip you off.

They call me bothering various times daily. They are trying to see who they can steal from by claiming they a person owes money for a bill. The people that call have no manners. They either insist I owe them money on bills that never existed or they do not answer the phone.

this number shows up on my caller ID everyday, but never a message left on my voice mail. If I didn't have caller ID, I would never know they even called. If they're trying to collect on a bill, sell something, or contact me for whatever reason, at least leave a message.

I sued these people and forced a nice cash settlement out of them. It was quite satisfying!

I check back on these forum every now and then to see if these SOB's are still up to their old tricks, and it pains me to see that they continue to victimize people on such a large scale. Here are my suggestions, based on my experience:

Document all calls. Keep detailed notes. Never provide these people with any information. Regardless of what they say, you are under no obligation to prove yourself innocent. Download a copy of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and familiarize yourself with it. If you send a cease-and-desist letter, use certified mail. Your receipt has powerful standing in federal court.

Do not count on the FTC or any state attorney general to do anything to defend you against these people. They simply will not act. Don't even mention the Better Business Bureau; they have no enforcement power, and the RPM representatives will understandably laugh if you threaten to report them.

There are law firms that specialize in consumer protection, and you may find one that will represent you on a contingency basis. That means you can smack these SOB's not only with a statutory settlement for yourself but also for attorney fees--and with attorney fees, the sky's the limit! You can use this fact to really stick it to the "collectors."

The dirty secret of the "collections business," I learned in the course of my defense against them, is that they usually have no legal claim against those whom they harass, even if the purported debtor really owes a debt. These "collections companies" are in reality shakedown rackets that buy names and phone numbers of people who may have owed money, BUT THE DEBT IS NOT TRANSFERRED IN ANY LEGAL SENSE. Thus they don't care if you once owed money to Sprint or merely have the same name as someone who did.

So please take heed: This particular company is a frickin' sitting duck, because they're in the U.S., subject to federal law, and their physical address is right out there in the open. Their business model is based on the correct assumption that most people don't know the law or, if they do, won't act on it.

Defending yourself is simply a matter of educating yourself, knowing your rights, documenting every contact with them, and finding the right lawyer. Better yet, find a lawyer who's hungry and will take your case to the next level, making it a class action.

Thank you for posting the information on this company.  I called them, and yes, they sure are a collection agency.  Treated me like a dead beat right off the bat.  They clearly made an error and had my cell phone number as one of their dead beats.  They agreed to remove my number, efffective in 24 hours.  I imformed them that they were harrassing me and in violation of the Fair Debt and Collection Act, which can be a serious offence.

My attorney has advised I proceed with Legal action in this situation, which I agreed to.  They are in violation of many laws and could constitute a class action.  Stay tuned for details.  You too could join the class.

My cell phone number 239-247-4552 receives a call from this number 3x per day for the past 6 weeks.  The number is not in service when I traced it.  It is a land lind in Bothell Washington.  I have traced it to the block 101st Ave. NE. in Western Washington.  I live in Florida. My cell phone carrier AT&T could not assist me unless I pay $5.00 per month for a block. The call was answered 2x's and nobody was on the other line.  Dead silence.  What to do, what to do?????

Receiving a call from the 425-984-6247.  When they DO say something, they are very rude and get angry when they don't get who they are calling for.  They are calling 5 or 6 times a day.  This just started a couple weeks ago.  They said once that they are RPM.  But when you call this number back, it says it can't be called.

I get a call from 425-984-6247 daily.  If I answer, no one says anything on the other end of the phone.  If I let it go to voice mail, no message is ever left.  If I call the number, I get a busy signal.  I don't know who this is or what they want, but they are calling a television station phone.  It is NOT my personal phone.

They keep calling. Three or four times a day. I picked up once and got a unintelligible response. I no longer answer this call, but they continue to call, allowing the phone to ring four times, the ringing stops at four rings. As I reported this happens at least three to four times a day.

I have been getting these calls daily at approximately the same time. The first few times I picked up there was nothing on the other end. Just silence. I tried calling the number back once and I just got the "off the hook" signal.

Keep getting calls from 425-984-6247 a couple of times a day for the past week or so on my cell.  Found out their tollfree number is 888-425-9175.  Just spoke to someone there and requested that my number be removed from their system immediately; she said it will take them 24 hours to do so.  We'll see...

Constant daily phone calls from (425)984-6247.  It's been going on for months.  Morning, afternoon, and evening, it doesn't matter, this number continually shows up on my caller ID when they call, but there is never ever anybody on the other end of the line.  Even when I pick up, it says it will transfer you, but after a brief pause, the line then goes busy.

It's gotten to be very, very annoying and I am ready to file a complaint with the FTC.

My original post on this number is above dated 13 Feb 2008. The phone calls to my cell phone started again and lasted throughout the remainder of the day so I decided to call them back once more. I spoke to a young lady by the name of Cassandra. In a fairly polite but very firm matter of fact tone I explained to her that I wanted these calls to stop immediately and I was not taking any BS excuses or else I would be naming her personally in a lawsuit for harrassment. She was pleasant and very helpful and promised me that the calls would stop within 24 hours. It took slightly longer than that but the calls have stopped.
