No, they just call tomorrow from a new number. Not answering doesn't make them stop. Never answer, that will make them stop eventually. I am changing my OGM to say "Because of scum spam calling, new callers must first leave a msg saying who you are and what number you are calling from, or you will never be answered. Sorry for the inconvience."
If we all do it this crap might stop one day.

just don't answer any of them, hang up the call. IF they don't get an answer they won't call back. As soon as you answer, they know they have a valid #.

I find that by not answering these calls, I don't get repeats. Any # I don't recognize, I don't answer, click the "hang up" button. That seems to eliminate call backs.  Then I also look it up (on a site like this), and if it's SPAM, I update my "SPAM" contact and add the # to the listing. That way, if they call back, it shows up as "SPAM" and I know not to answer, just "hang up" the call in mid-ring. I rarely get call backs by treating unknown calls this way. I figure if it is actually important they'll leave a message for me so that I can call them back, otherwise, they're never going to get an answer frome me.

I reported the number to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY - they ask if you have done business with the company in the last 18 months and then will need the number and the date of the call.  I have talked to companies like this before and the scam is that they say they are a non-profit organization to help consumers.  Non-profits are exempt from the do not call list however, I think this is a scam. I have told them to take me off their lists and they have not so now they will be reported every time there is a call from whatever number they call from.
Good luck dealing with this issue but make your voice known so these calls will STOP.

Hey Genius retired law enforcement.  Have you ever heard of Caller ID spoofing?  I hope you had a nice trip to Utah because that is all it was.  You must think these people are idiots to be scamming the same place as the phone number they are using.  The info you got I can find on the internet.  In short genius it is a fake number!

They hung up on me seconds after I answered.  Most likely just an auto dialer phishing for valid numbers to harass.  This garbage has gotten ridiculous the last few months.

THE BAD NEWS: Card Services calls aren't going to stop anytime soon.

THE GOOD NEWS: You can retaliate, reduce the misery, and even have some fun.

RETALIATE:

Waste these turkeys' time. Keep them on the line by acting like an interested prospect. Give them bogus data, including a combination of two different credit card numbers, scrambled Social Security digits, and a modified ZIP Code. Important: provide a credit card company's real 800 number.

After they call the credit card company, you can give them the same credit card info as before with two of the numbers transposed, thus causing them to make a second verification call. Or you can respond, "Guess what ... H-O-O-N-N-K-K [from a $6 air horn] you've been PRANKED! Call back tomorrow for more bullshot." Now they're the butt of your joke.

REDUCE THE MISERY:

Landlines. Enroll for the free service at nomorobo.com. Simultaneous ringing, a free feature many providers offer, enables nomorobo to receive, answer and, after one ring, automatically hang up on nuisance telephone numbers.

Cell phones. Block the number, an option that becomes available on the iPhone if you click on the "i" on the right in the list of recent calls and scroll to the bottom. Unfortunately, Card Services will keep calling from new spoofed numbers, which eventually should motivate you to retaliate.

HAVE FUN:

Turning the tables on the perpetrators with mischievous deception and the news they've been duped provides instantaneous vigilante satisfaction. Plus you serve your fellow call recipients by slowing down this evil operation's efforts to defraud them.

It's a credit card offer. Asked to dial 1 for the great credit card deal, I did that. I told the jerk that answered, that the number called is on a "Do Not Call" list. The jerk lied that the Do Not Call List does not apply to cell phones, He's lying.

They called a number on the National Do Not Call List (a cell number at that) and left NO message. Put among my Do not answer SPAM listings which won't let it ring through in the future.

Credit cards should have id theft protection. Record calls with them. If you give credit card info and they process there will be a card processing merchant listed. By law the credit card processing company has to have a copy of the  scammers telemarketing script. The scammers also are portraying to be your credit card company. The credit card company can also file charges against them. If you are on the do not call list, the violation is $1500 per call. This can be through small claims court for under $100. You can go after the telemarketer and the credit card processing company. You can make money off this. They try to charge you about $1000 for something you can do yourself for free.
