I find some of the remarks posted about these ?faux telemarketer calls? amusing.  I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012.  Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls.  Maybe not from the same number, but they?ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on.  Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ?robocalls?) ? once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls.  If you have the capability to ?block? the number that called ? that is the best action.  If you don?t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ?talk? and ?off? simultaneously.  If you really want to block them ? there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install.  Of the 380 calls I?ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months.  So the message is simple ? blocking works?.

Looking for owner info.

These scammers hurt us in two ways.  First, they steal our money and second, they damage the ability of honest charities to collect funds for legitimate purposes.   I'll put Call Type as "Non-profit Organization", but they certainly profit for themselves.  

I get calls from this number repeatedly but the caller never leaves a message. If this organization is legit, why don't they leave a brief, polite message?  I never donate over the phone either, Big Tex

Thanks for the heads up on the appalling donation/charitable expenditures ratio at BCFA, BigTex. One cent (1!) out of every dollar they collect in donations from compassionate citizens goes to help others & the other 99 go to pay themselves for their own bureaucratic administration & overhead? Maybe that's how the federal government does things these days, but plenty of other more legitimate charities do better.

The Breast Cancer Financial Assistance Fund, also known as the Cancer Fund of America, was established in 1984.  All it really does for charity is to collect donated goods and give them to families who have gone broke due to breast cancer expenses.

Since it's beginning, the BCFA/CFA has spent only $891,812 to help breast cancer victims and their families, while paying over $80.4 million to telephone solicitors and over $17.6 million in overhead.

469-206-4582 called my home phone at 326PM today.  Caller ID said BCFA.  They have called before.  That is the Breast Cancer Financial Assistance Fund, although they have been known by a couple of other names.  The last time I looked, they were not listed on Charity Navigator.  I never donate over the phone anyway.
