The Scammer is escalating. We just moved to the Austin,TX area and are looking for a home to rent. Found a home in nearby Leander, TX through Hotpads.com and the local ReMax Reator's office. My wife and I took the tour of the house, liked it, made an appliation and after five days, we received word that we were approved. We paid a $2300 down as the deposit and first month's rent. The owner's name was Milaken Holmes of Dallas, TX and the contact number was 469-213-0078. We have never received the lease or the keys to the home and ReMax is no where to be found. We had no idea this kind of thing went on down here. Oh well, welcome to Austin, TX. We had been promised a three year lease at $1,300 per month with the option to buy. Everything about this was very slick and seemed very real.

Asked me to Western Union deposit for a house of $1000 and would mail me keys for the house. Scam!! Its a shame people fall for these at times.

I contacted about an ad for a rental and he sent me texts stating he was out of town and I needed to fill out an application and mail it with a $750.00 deposit and to get the keys.

They posted on a trulia a selling/rental website to rent a property and used other peoples home as if there own. After sending me an application and asking me to send money via Western Union I knew they were fraudsters.

Aloha, this # 469-213-0078 sent me text message and wanted to buy my desk (from a Craig's List ad).
"The texter was "glad to inform me theie office will be mailing an overnight certified check from salary to cover the cost of the desk, please remove advert from web and consider this item sold to me. They wanted to be the best offer and include an extra $50 to my money as the best offer"...
My ph# was listed in ad and person now also has my address. Luckily I'm married to a police officer and we have video surveillance, which we've now made the scammer aware of.

Answered my Craigslist ad for a room for rent. They sent me email requesting my personal email address ad cell phone number. Looks like a scam to me.
