i am so sick of these stupid debt collectors trying  to collect their money FROM THE WRONG PERSON. I have had this phone # since 2008 on Pay As You go cell phone. thise is my emergency cell phone and i give this phone # to NO ONE EVER. The person that had this number ran their credit into the ground HARD enough to bury themselves. then either moved or disconnected their phone. i have received all of their debt collector calls since i got this Phone #. i call back explain to whom ever i am talking too that i am NOT Rocinda or Resoreo Rosa. and please remove this # from their list. that last about 2 weeks and i start all over again.
Rgs phone # is 1-866-941-8600 or 1 866 253 8555.  they are bunch of A$$ hats.

These people keep calling requesting to talk to a relative that has passed away having to do with a debt incurred by an errant relative who used other peoples phone number as their own. No point in discussing this with them.  A police report on theft identity was put in last year and this should have been taken care of. They continue to harass an innocent bystander.

I want to enlighten some of you on some things. This company, RGS, is a collection agency, not a solicitor. The "do not call" list has nothing to do with them. That only protects you from calls from solicitors and has NOTHING to do with this type of call. However, as a licensed debt collector, they are bound by the FDCPA, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The FDCPA has very explicit and strict guidelines by which they must go by. If you owe a debt then they are trying to collect it. If you do not owe anyone then they have your number by one of three means. Either you were put down as a reference when whoever owes the debt contracted for it and thus they have every right to call you. I understand that you may not have known about this but it still gives them the right to call you, but only until you tell them to stop. The second way is they got your information through some method such as running an Accurant or other service that gives associated names and numbers of an individual. I worked for a company that used these to locate people and they are very thorough. We were very careful to use only information that we knew was obviously a good lead. Some companies however will use everything on these reports and call any number. These reports can show, relatives, neighbors, other residents who have had the same address or others who have had that number. Again, it's very thorough. If this is the case, you are still covered and after you tell them to stop calling, they must do so. There is a misconception that you must request the cease and desist in writing. This is not true if you are not the debtor. You may simply state that you are not the person they are trying to contact and that in accordance with the FDCPA you are hereby notifying them to cease all further communication. At that point they must do it. Now, even if you are the debtor they don't know that and must comply. However, if you are the debtor and they know that then, based upon the debt agreement, you may be required to send in the cease and desist in writing. Usually this is not the case though. Since I doubt that you have kept your documents you may just have to go with it if they tell you it has to be in writing. The third way they got your number is if it belonged to that person prior to you. Again, tell them you are not them and do the FDCPA speech and they should leave you alone. Hopefully all of this helps. Again the do not call list does not apply to debt collectors. Only Solicitors. The FDCPA covers debt collection practices, is very strict and is one of the few pieces of legislation that actually protects the individual. Like I said before, usually just mentioning the FDCPA is enough to get them to stop. One last thing, as far as the calling you at work thing..... Whether you are the debtor or not no one can call you at work but only if you inform them that this is a work number and that you are not allowed incoming calls. There is a whole different set of rules for this in the FDCPA and they have severe penalties because it is a dual violation. You and your employer can sue them so you almost never have issues with this again.

I agree w/you.  I owe no one and any debt I do have is paid on time.  If there is a do not call list, then why in heaven's name are they allowed to call you unsolicited?  It is flat wrong.  Time to make our congressmen do some work for a change and pass some laws re: this.  I have had it up to my eyeballs.

Received a call from these people tonight, came across caller ID as RGS.  Answered the phone got "Please continue to hold" 3 times then a woman came on the phone and asked for me, but mispronounced my last name adding an "A" where there was none.  She asked if the person whom she mispronounced the name was available and I pronounced the last name correctly.  She said is he available.  Then she said this has to do with your Washington Mutual account, I told her that I don't have a Washington Mutual account, then she said "I'll verify it on the phone"  I told her to read up on the Fair Debt Collections Act as she was not following the act and that if they thought that I owed some debt they should send me paperwork verifying the debt.  She kept trying to verify it on the phone and I repeated that she could not.  She said "let me have you talk to a manager" and I hung up.  I've never in my life owned a Washington Mutual account and have had the number they called from blocked.

They are a debt collect agency. These agencies pay the original debt holder a percentage of the original debt then they call or write hoping to get you to pay something. Its a numbers game. Just ignore them they cant do anything to u. Ignore their threats if you already have poor credit due to life events their threats will mean nothing.Dont be tempted to pay them or even talk with them = once they have made contact they will step up the calls. Options
* Toss your phone and get a burner- I know its a hassle but they no longer have your tel no, I change my phone often to stay off the grid.
* DONT give your number to any one unless you have to once on the grid they wont let go
* If you keep getting calls go online and find a web site where you can get a free template for a 'Cease and desist letter' send this to them by mail and get a receipt return. Once they have this they cannot BY LAW continue to contact you.
* If you are in debt etc. consider Chap 7 bankruptcy - it may cost about $500 - but speak with a lawyer. Chap 13 is also an alternative but most of these fail.
* Finally dont forget that eventually all the debts will disapear from your credit reort - may take up to 7 years. Dont be tempted to deal with people who say they can fix your credit..they cant. Dont negotiate with a so called credit counselor unless they are reputable and free most are in cahoots withCC companies - the CC companies would rather get something from you even ifits only a %$.
" DONT let them intimidate you. Stay strong. Their debts are unsecured also 7 will eliminate them.
+ One group YOU must deal with are the IRS make arrangements to pay them by installment. Dont ignore them - they have the power of the FED GOV and wont let go. They will be happy to make payments arrangements with you BUT YOU MUST keep them informed they will not give up otherwise and have the power to take eveything you own. They are also exempt from a ch7 bankruptcy = their debts cannoty not be written off.

I'm replying to my message from yesterday as a follow up.

Today RGS Financial called my home phone number and spoofed the Caller ID with the phone number 512-772-1277 again. They left the same message that I put in my previous post.

RGS Financial called my house from the phone number 469-341-3352 on May 6, 13, and 16, 2013, but never left a message. Yesterday (5/20/13) they called again from the phone number 512-772-1277 and left this message on our answering machine:

"You have an important message from RGS. This is a call from a debt collector. Please call *couldn't understand what was said in this part* at 1-866-941-8600 ext. 2170."

Ok, first of all, they only said YOU have an important message. Who the heck is the *YOU* they're calling for? It could be ANYONE and ,most likely, not even someone at this number!! If they can't give a SPECIFIC NAME of EXACTLY WHO they're calling for then it really must not be that important.

Second, I do believe that spoofing the Caller ID to make it look like the call is coming from a local number in the area code of the number they're calling in an attempt to trick that person into thinking that it's someone they know is against the law.

Third, if they're going to waste people's time then they could at least LEAVE A MESSAGE or give MORE INFORMATION when they do. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!

RGS keeps leaving messages on my cell phone saying they are a debt collector (I have absolutely no debts) and using up my cell phone minutes.  They obviously have a wrong number but don't leave the name of who they are trying to reach. I finally tired of the calls so called back to find out who they are trying to reach and told them they had a wrong number. She kept asking my name and I told her it was none of her business, because she had a wrong number and I just wanted to them to stop calling my number. She very rudely refused to tell me who they were trying to reach.  She said "if I tell you, you'll just tell me that person is not there".  I told her to stop calling and then she basically hung up on me. Well, that was a waste of time and an exercise in frustration!

Repeat calling to a Louisiana Landline phone 318 area code. It is a collection agency, trying to collect a debt from someone (not my debt) that I do not know. They don't give a name of company or person that is calling, don't give a return call number. I guess they are using an automatic dialer, because the message on my message center keeps repeating, please hold....and the persons name they attempting to collect a debt from, and if you are not (name of person) please hang up and delete this message immediately. A few times I have answered, and told them I am not this person, I don't know this person, don't know where this person lives or a phone number, please stop calling.  THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I can't mail a cease and desist letter to them because I don't what the company NAME or a mailing address. Today, 03/05/2013, there was another call, went to message center, but NO MESSAGE WAS RECORDED. Only the number on caller ID.

ON ONE CALL ONLY, I THOUGHT THEY SAID "RDS" BUT NOT SURE.

If anyone knows the company name and a mailing address, please send information to: Chloe C. Boullion, 290 Clinton Bates Rd, Winnfield, LA 71483.
