got a call during class at 3:05 pm EST.  ignored the call.  will try calling back or wait for another call.  not doubting it was probably a scam.  whomever it was didnt leave a message either.

I have been getting several from different companies. The beauty is that I don't have any magazines, so I know it's a scam. But I haven't been able to get off the list. When I asked for the supervisor and asked for the name of the company (Registered Publication) to get the name of the source where they get my name so I can stop it at the source, they just said it was a lead company and won't give out the source!

We are also on the Do Not Call List

This just happened to me also.
It is very strange. I think it might be a phishing attempt. If they find someone who is waiting on some magazines or something, they can begin a discussion and pull information out of them. For example, "Let me help you. How long have you been waiting on that? Can you tell me which credit card you used? Did you know we have a birthday special. When is your birthday?" Etc.
I'm hoping they are harmless if one does not give them any information. It is sad but true that there are bad people out there looking to prey upon innocent people.
I think the best advice is to just not give any information at all.

I received a call out of the blue at about 2:30pm mountain time from some one named joseph. "samantha?" I said "yes, who is this?" (i was surprised, i wasnt expecting a phone call, and this is a phone number I didnt recognize) "joseph, are you enjoying those magazines the publishers are sending you?" (im not receiving magazines...) so i said "I have no idea what you are talking about" the young man on the phone asked me again,"are you enjoying those magazines the publishers are sending you?" again i replied, "i have no idea what you are talking about!" CLICK. He had hung up on me, when called the number back it was for "publishers customer service-it was an automated line, i held on the line to speak to a representative to see why i received a call, and when a csp picked up i heard "mwaaaaaahhhhhh ssssssaaaaa" CLICK they hung up (i did call using the *67 feature)I finally got a hold of someone still *67 my call and the person knew exactly who i was on the computer, when i asked how he knew me he said caller ID. i told him i blocked my number, they said they keep records for five years, thats when i asked for a supervisor (which sounded like the same person) i managed to find out that the company is located somewhere in  florida, and the supervisor i was speaking with was named robert hendricks, who gave me the name of his company: registered publications. When I "googled" the name of the company i didnt even find a single trace of this company. My next step is filing a police report against this company because they have my personal information and I never gave it to them. How did they get my information to begin with?
